"Could you give me back your glass? I think I brought you cachaça instead of cappuccino" I couldn't help but laugh and to my surprise she didn't get upset, instead she also laughed at the situation.
"It was funny, I admit. But I'm serious."
"Hmm. So the devil wants to hire me? Was it because of my charm?" I ran my tongue over my upper lip trying to look provocative, but I was far from it. I never thought I was sexy or anything, I didn't have big breasts, thick legs or a huge ass.
"I don't know about that, but if you accept the contract you can ask in person."
"So Satan will come to me?"
"No. We will take you to him."
That conversation took a funny and strange turn at the same time. But the cafeteria was empty and I had already cleaned up a good part of everything so I decided to stay there and see how far that woman would go with that supernatural chat.
"And what do I get from this contract?"
"Everything you want. House, car, mansions and even an island of your own. You will be superior to everyone you know."
"Wow, tempting. And what do I lose? My soul?"
"I do not know that. I am not allowed to read the contract."
"Let me guess, I win all these things and live ten years before I go to hell?"
"Ten years?" she laughed "child, this is not something taken from the series you watch. You will have the right to live as many years as you want, with the stewardship you want."
"And am I going to see Lucifer? The terrible Lucifer?"
"Yes. You will live in the same resistance as him."
"Do you know what I think?"
"What?"
"I think you need medical treatment. But I liked the chat, very funny. I needed to distract myself a little."
"Accept the contract and you will see that I am not kidding."
"For your wisdom I do not believe in these things. I don't believe in the devil."
"But he believes in you, so he chose you hand."
"And what is so special about me that the devil chooses me?"
"That's the question, you have nothing. No friends, no parents, no relatives and no social life."
"So you hurt my feelings," I smiled, trying to hide the fact that she was completely right. I had nothing, I was nothing.
"Kaila" she shook her head negatively" it's time to turn around, it's time to put these people under their feet and show them who's boss. This is what he is offering you, a glorious restart.
"Very cute this talk of you restarting but I live in real life. If you want anything more, just call me" I got up from the chair and turned my back to the counter.
"It's a cold day today, huh, said Hilary, noticing my approach as she fiddled with her cell phone."
"Yes, I think it will rain."
"That is good. I love the rain."
"You love everything, Hilary."
"Lie, I don't love my salary."
"Then give it to me."
"Only if you make me come?"
Those words left me red as an apple in its final stage of ripening.
"How disgusting, you pervert."
"You don't, do you? Leave it cool Kaila" she laughed noting my shyness - everyone enjoys it, I bet there are thousands of people enjoying it right now.
"You should become a call girl."
"Sure, do you want to be my client? I know how to use my tongue in a way that will drive you crazy" Hilary bit her lip looking me up and down and then burst out laughing.
"Idiot..."
"I really am."
"i***t and pervert."
"You who are very fresh and shy."
"I have principles, did you know?"
"Of course there are, and judging from your own way, these "principles" of yours have never been properly penetrated."
"I will kill you."
"Kill, but not now. I'm in the middle of a very hot conversation here" she turned her attention to her cell phone.
"Judging by your way, this conversation must be with the owner of the cafeteria."
"Now I'm going to kill you. Are you implying that I'm self-serving?"
"I said nothing."
I turned my back on the counter and the mysterious woman had left the establishment. On the table where she sat there was a rolled parchment, money from the capuccinho and a very fat tip.
I took the parchment and there was a red ribbon tied around it. Was that the contract? Near the glass I found a note left by the woman:
"The contract must be signed in blood."
I had no doubts now, that scroll was really the bizarre contract she had talked about minutes before. A great idiocy in my view.
at the moment
I looked up and down the sidewalk, then up and then looked at the contract on the floor. Nothing happened apparently, my clothes are still thrown next to me and the cold was beginning to mistreat me. The night became more foggy by the minute and the movement in the streets would soon give way to the early morning desert. I had nowhere to go so I sat there and huddled while I watched the lights of the houses slowly fading. Everyone was going to sleep in their comfortable beds, next to their loving families. And I, well, I was on the verge of madness. Homeless and now without sanity, I can't believe I actually cut my finger to write my name on stupid paper that was handed to me by an even stupid person. Two bright lights appeared on the street on the right. Certainly the headlights of a last vehicle that passed through there. But it was not just any vehicle, it was a luxurious Limousine that seemed to cost more than the whole tacky neighborhood. The vehicle stopped right next to me and it scared me. I got up quickly from the floor and took a few steps back while looking in all directions to see if anyone else was witnessing it. The glass of the window where the driver was lowered slightly but the interior of the limo was dark and I couldn't see anything.
"Miss Kaila Wight?"
It was a man's voice.
