Ch 7: Noah

1221 Words
I wake up with a dry taste in my mouth. As my brows furrow, I feel the cold hard surface my face is currently laying on. I slowly blink, my eyes open and take in my surroundings, feeling slightly disoriented. I looked around to see my beta sprawled on my couch and I realized we never went back to our rooms last night. Fuck! What time is it? Xavier: Took you long enough. Noah: If you were awake this whole time why didn’t you wake us up. We have things to do and places to be. Xavier: Yeah, yeah, yeah. All I care about is how we haven’t spoken to our mate in over 8 hours. That’s too much for me. Our very being craves her. Noah: I rub my chest, acknowledging the ache that’s been there since I left my beautiful mate at her friend’s house. Xavier: So much for teaching our Beta a lesson. I let out an exasperated sigh and rubbed my face down. Noah: Xavier….later. I blocked him, not having the energy to deal with this early in the morning. Speaking of our mate though, why hasn’t she called or texted me? I pat myself down looking for my phone, not finding it on my body. My eyes fully shot open as I made a mess of my office looking for my phone. “What the hell is going on, Alpha?” Jack yawns, as he stretches and rubs his eyes, trying to wake up. “Phone! Andrea!” I exclaim, unable to fully form full sentences as my mind goes to the worst-case scenario. Xavier: How could you be such a human?! What if mate called or texted us? What if they need us? What if something happened to mate? Noah: XAVIER! I growled at him inside my head. Noah: That is not helping. I don’t get a response and am too preoccupied to care. “Is that all?” Jack scoffs. “ALL…IS THAT ALL!! NEED I REMIND YOU, YOUR MATE IS WITH MINE!!! NEED I REMIND YOU HOW FATE KEEPS TAKING MY MATE FROM ME!!” I half yelled and half growled out. Jack’s eyebrows shoot up in surprise and he nods slightly. “Here, I’ll call your phone,” he suggests. I nod, not acknowledging the fact that he made sense and maybe I was overreacting just a tad. He calls my phone and I hear the soft vibration underneath the cabinet of drawers. I rushed over and threw the cabinet out of my way with a tug to reach for my phone. I think I heard a yelp, but all I could care about was getting in contact with my mate. Hanging up on my beta, I immediately look at my phone and noticed one text and one missed call from my fiancé. That brings a tug of a smile to my face, thinking it has a nice ring to it. Xavier: You know wife and mate has a much better ri- I cut him off and read the text. Little Mate: Good morning my Fiancé! I called but you didn’t answer. Angie and I are fine. We just woke up and are having breakfast. Pick me up whenever you get up…I miss you. If you get up and get here before lunchtime, I will act out my dream for you… I look at the time of the text 9:21 am and the time on my phone 12:01 pm. SHIT! Xavier: You better hurry! Mate usually gets hungry around 12:30 -1ish. Noah: I know my mate mutt. Xavier: You know you’ve been really aggressive recently. Our mate should’ve brought us closer, not further away. I let out a huff. Noah: I’m sorry. You know I get agitated whenever we are away from her too long. After everything that has happened and everything that is coming our way, I just want her to be okay. Xavier: I know human. She is my mate too. Now suck up this pity party for one and go get our mate! I check the time once more and do the math in my head. s**t, I have to leave now but if I return in the same clothes as yesterday, I know I’ll get it from her. I run to our room and throw on a random t-shirt and joggers before running out. I could’ve shifted but I want to talk to her and hold her hand on our way back. I grab the keys to my other baby and break a few traffic laws getting to Angie’s house. A quick nod to the doorman and a sprint upstairs has me in front of Angie’s door with a minute to spare before 12:30 PM. Before I even get a change to knock, the door swings open and I collide with my mate. I run my nose along her neck and her scent relaxes me instantly. She sags in relief as she does the same. I pull away a little to look at this Goddess given beauty, of which I get a small eye full before she snags me in a quick passionate kiss which is made even quicker by the not so subtle throat clearing of her best friend. I hold back the snarl and see the same fight in my mate’s eyes before we lock eyes and let out a small chuckle at our actions. “Hi,” she breathes. “Hi little mate,” I smile back with a look of pure adoration on my face. “You guys are disgustingly cute,” I hear Angie grumble in the background. “Sorry,” my mate says sheepishly. “I’m not,” I shrug. “Yeah, yeah. Rub it in my face why don’t you,” she says but I can hear the smile in her voice. “Sorry, it wasn’t my intention,” I apologize, “but I can’t help it around her.” “Why don’t you come inside and join us for dinner? We were just about to start.” Angie gestured to the living room where they seemed to have set up camp. I glance at my mate, raising one eyebrow, and she gifts me another blush in response. “I would love to,” I reply as I move inside and Angie goes to grab a set of utensils for me. “I made it little mate,” I whisper in her ear. “Barely,’’ she responds. “Barely still means I made it,” I teased, “So, do I have to wait until tonight or are you going to do it when we get back?” “I’m not doing-” “Doing what?” Angie questions on her way back, looking between the two of us. “Nothing!” my mate exclaims. “Yeah, OK,” Angie says, not believing her for one second. She hands me the utensils, and we all sit down to eat some Chinese food. My mind was overjoyed to be back with my mate and excited to see this dream later on. All is well in the world the moment she is near me. Xavier: She is the sun, the stars, and the moon all rolled into one. Our little mate. Sweet. Feisty. Fierce. Noah: That she is my friend. That she is.
