Ch 3: Noah

My palms are slick and my heart feels like it's going a thousand miles per minute. Never did I think I would be this nervous to ask my mate to marry me. Xavier: Because you are stupid. She is our mate, of course she will say yes. Noah: You don't know that, she has been human most of her life and this is important to her. Xavier: Actually, she was never human. Listen, don't be nervous. I know she will say yes. Noah: How do you know? Xavier: Because she is our mate, she lives with us, she loves us... need I continue? Noah: Okay, okay. I get it. Xavier: Finally. "Hey, you okay?" she asks me lightly. "Yeah, of course," I respond with a slight smile. Xavier: Goddess, take a deep breath and calm your ass down stupid human.Noah: Shut up mutt.Once I pull up to my favorite fancy restaurant, I take a deep breath and announce, "We're here," giving my mate what I hope is my million dollar smile with a whole lot of love. "Weren't we headed to some fancy-shmancy event?" she asks, inquisitively. "This is our fancy event. A night all to ourselves. Goddess knows you've been working your ass off and so have I. I thought it'd be nice to get some alone time where the pack isn't around," I explain. "I love the pack, they're like the huge family I always dreamt of having," she tells me. "And that is why you're an amazing Luna and girlfriend," I say proudly, almost accidentally calling her wife. I get out, go around, and open the door for her, while holding my hand out for hers. "Ever the gentleman." "Always for you." She gently puts her hand in mine and we go inside. As soon as we go inside, the hostess recognizes me. "How are you, Mr. Hunter?" the hostess asks. "Good, and you?" "Good as usual. Come, we have your table waiting," she says while gesturing for us to follow her. "Here you are, Mr. Hunter," she points to the best and most secluded table in the place. I chose this spot for the picturesque view of the city outline and water body. It goes perfectly against the dark night sky and full moon. "It's beautiful," Andrea gasps. "Second, only to you," I compliment. Andrea rolls her eyes playfully, "You always say that." "Only because it's true." She searches my eyes for something and then slips me her beautiful smile and nods. The hostess clears her throat, breaking our moment, and Andrea growls softly. I suppress a chuckle and look at the hostess. "Yes?" "I'm sorry, I didn't want to break your moment but I just wanted to know what you would like to start with for drinks," she states while handing us the menu. "What would you like, my beautiful little mate?" I ask, whispering "little mate" so only she hears it. "I'll have a glass of wine, your choice," she replies. "Okay, in that case, we'll have two glasses of the 2012 Harlan Estate," I tell the waiter. "Yes, sir," the waiter mumbles politely and leaves. Andrea looks over the menu while I look at her. I already know what I want and she's sitting right in front of me. Xavier: Let's get straight to desert. Noah: As much as I want to, we can't. You know that. Xavier: I know. "You come here often," she asks. "Something like that," I tell her. "So did you like your surprise?" I question. "You mean Sam?" "Yes." "It was a surprise, alright. I didn't know she was a wolf too. Goddess, I wonder how many are just hidden in plain sight. I mean, I guess I can now smell them out but still," she gushes. I chuckle. "What?" she asks. "As much as I love calm, collected you, I love this you better," I reply genuinely. "This me?" "Yes, passionate, no holds barred you." "Oh," she blushes. The waiter comes back at this moment and asks us if we are ready to order. We both nod and place our orders. Andrea picks up the glass of wine and takes a sip appreciatively. "You spoil me," she states. "How so?" "With expensive yet tasteful wine like this," she notes in an obvious tone. "I'd like to spoil you all the time." "No complaints here." We banter and talk about our day when our food arrives. Andrea takes a bite of her food and lets out a little moan. "Careful there, little mate," I say gruffly. She realizes what just happened and giggles. We finish eating and the waiter comes back. "Dessert?" he asks. Andrea was about to say something but I beat her to it. "No, thank you." We get up and start to leave when Andrea stops me. I look at her questioningly. She tugs at my sleeve and whispers, "We didn't pay." "We don't need to," I whisper back. "Why not?" "Because, my sweet little mate, I know the owner." "So?" "Babe, I am the owner." "Ohhh, why didn't you just say so?" "I wanted to see how you like the food first, without any bias." "Oh. I absolutely loved the food." "I know, your moan told all. Although, I am a little jealous it wasn't me who caused it," I joke. "You're incorrigible," she shakes her head with a small smile. "So what plans do we have next, that we have to skip dessert?" she pouts. I peck her pout. "We have dessert arranged elsewhere. But first, I need to blindfold you." "Don't we do that when we get home," she jokes. "We can then too," I tease back. "Is it really necessary?" "Absolutely." "Fine." She turns around and closes her eyes. I secure the blindfold, insuring she can't see through it. We go to the back of the restaurant where there is a boardwalk and at the end of the boardwalk is a canopy. We walk hand in hand, with her snuggled close to me, not necessarily for warmth because the weather was perfect, but because she wants to be close and I love it. I had some of my restaurant members come and decorate the canopy and boardwalk with white fairy lights while having lanterns set free, like in the boat scene of Tangled. Andrea always said she loved that scene, so I thought why not? We get to the canopy and I get down on one knee, holding the custom-made ring for her. At first, I thought to pick a ring but Andrea is too special to get a generic ring. I got a ring with 5 stones, a ruby stone on the outer sides, an aquamarine stone on the inner sides and a bigger diamond in the middle, to symbolize each of their personalities. "You can take off the blindfold," I whisper. She slowly takes it off, taking in the scene before her and finally looks down at me and then the ring. She gasps and holds her breath. "You remembered," she whispers. "Always." "Andrea, from the moment I laid eyes on you, I knew we were meant to be, no matter how stubbornly I tried to deny it. You were like a breath of fresh air, like the first sip of cold water after a long hard day, like the first ray of sunshine after the dark stormy night. You were and are everything to me and I never want to let you go. I love you and I want you to be mine in every way possible. So on that note, will you marry me and breathe because you are scaring me?" She chuckles at the last part and starts nodding yes before her. The joy leaves her eyes and they harden. I look at her confused. Oh Goddess, please don't say no. "Before I say yes, I need to tell you something," she warns. "Of course," I say, worriedly. "I didn't tell you exactly what happened and you need to know before we get married. I want to be transparent with you." "Of course, if you're comfortable." "While you know most of what happened that night with my father, you don't know everything. It seems as if he knew more about me than what we initially thought. Even though he isn't a threat anymore, this isn't the reason Aqua and Sera were given to me. While I'm not 100% sure why they were, it is for something much bigger. I have a feeling that most of it is not good. I don't want you to be bound to me forever before you know this. Something big is coming and I want you to be prepared. It is my fight, not yours." "Andrea, anything that is against you, is against me. Point. Blank. Period. So, if that's all you had to say, say yes already because I am with you all the way." "Noah, maybe you should think about it some more." "I have and nothing is going to change my mind. Okay? We are in this, whatever this is, together." "Then, of course, I'll marry you." "Thank Goddess!" I yell and then kiss her, pouring in every emotion I feel, especially my love for her.
