"Goodbye." Carlton waved to Oliver, then turned to me. "Alice, I'm so sorry. I didn't know you were married."
For some reason, I confessed, "That's my ex-husband."
He stared at me, a smile gradually spreading across his previously downturned lips.
He didn't think I was telling him that was my ex-husband for something else, did he?
However, Carlton and I weren't close, so I didn't delve into the reason.
His stare made me uncomfortable. "Um, let's discuss the contract another time." With that, I took Oliver's hand and returned to my car.
