A Date

{Viktor’s POV} I grabbed the back of Clara’s hand softly, looking at her wrist, Braxton’s hand print was bruised around her wrist already. I looked over it, seething, wishing that she’d let me handle him, I sighed. “You need to be more careful.. there’s nothing wrong with needing help you know. If you need help, just ask for it, and stop putting yourself in these situations.” I looked up at her, her eyes were wide, as tears spilled down her cheeks she fought against me, making me set her down. “I didn’t do anything Viktor, I was sitting here, enjoying the fire pit! It’s not my fault that he came over here acting that way! I didn’t put myself into any kind of situation by sitting on my brother’s porch!” She whispered through gritted teeth, before turning on her heel and rushing inside. I groaned, realizing what I’d just done, I clenched my fist, itching to go after the as***** who’d dare to hurt her. I looked over seeing Daniella shaking her head before rushing after Clara. The rest of the party goers stared at me, before Adrien shouted. “Alright everyone, I think it’s time to go home.” Everyone grabbed their things and left, the redheaded woman who was so interested in me earlier walked up, swaying her hips with each step. “I didn’t realize you were into girls.. when you want a real woman, call me.” She smirked, handing me a piece of paper with her number on it, before turning and leaving. I sighed, taking a seat on the couch, and pinching the bridge of my nose. I’ve gone and done it again, I’ve upset her.. I’m so terrible at being around her. I looked over my shoulder seeing that everyone had left, and Adrien and Dimitri were standing behind me with their arms crossed. “What were you thinking? Do you know that you’re being an a** when you start talking, or do you have to wait to find out what stupid thing you’re going to say like the rest of us?” Dimitri scolded, rolling his eyes. “Clara has been targeted twice, once by your men, and now again by someone she considered a friend, none of this was her fault!” He groaned. “I’m going to go check on her.. you good here Adrien?” He asked. “Yeah.. I’m good here for now.” Adrien responded as Dimitri walked away. He sighed, sitting down beside me. “Viktor.. my sister.. she’s everything to me. She’s been kept locked away from everyone, so she’s not good at setting boundaries, or at asking for help. She’s had to deal with everything by herself since she was just a kid. She wants to be able to take care of herself, but she’s not sure how to. Her whole world has changed, and on top of it all, she’s been harassed and assaulted just since she’s been here.” He leaned back against the couch. “I want to keep her safe, but I can’t.. not all the time.. there are going to be people that get to her, that upset her, and break her down, and I don’t know how to keep her from getting hurt. It’s all I want to do though.. to keep her safe, and allow her to be a normal girl, to laugh, to have fun.. but I keep failing her. So don’t make me have to protect her from you too.. okay?” He asked, looking over to me. I nodded, letting out a deep sigh. “Alright.. I’m sorry Adrien.. I guess I have the skill of saying the wrong things just like Daniella. I’ll try to keep to myself as much as possible, and make sure I don’t say anything to upset her.” I said, standing from my place on the couch. He sighed and stood up beside me. “You idiot.. she’s bonded to you.. you’re the one who saved her. She looks up to you, and you make her feel safe! Keeping your distance isn’t going to help anything!” He shouted, before walking past me. “You’re impossible Vik..” was the last thing he said before he took off inside after his sister. I sat with my thoughts for a moment, she shouldn’t be bonded to someone like me. I need to nip that in the bud.. I looked down at the piece of paper in my hands, the one with the redheads number. Maybe if I go on a few dates with her, whatever bond this is with Clara will go away. While it’s true that I do care about her.. the last thing I want is for her to care for me. I pulled out my phone, and called the number. It rang a few times before she picked up. “Hello?” “Hey, it’s Viktor, you still around?” I asked, walking back towards the back door. “Yeah, we just got in our car, why?” She asked. “Want to go grab dinner and some drinks?” I asked, walking through the house towards the front door. “Yeah, sounds great, I’ll have my brother leave then, I’ll wait for you out front.” She finished before hanging up. I sighed, looking over myself in the mirror in the hallway at Adrien’s. Maybe this date will be good for me too.. I haven’t seen anyone in years, maybe it’s finally time. I walked out onto the front porch seeing her leaning against the railing. “You ready?” She asked, turning and smirking at me. “Ready when you are.” I smiled back, extending my arm to her. She took it smiling up at me as I led her to my car. I opened the door for her, letting her inside, then closing it behind her. I walked over to my side and could see my sister looking at me through the window, behind her on a bed I could see a shaken Clara. Her body was trembling, her makeup smeared down her face. She was afraid.. and I was going on a date. I made eye contact with my sister, as I opened the car door getting inside. She shook her head and closed the curtains. Maybe it’s best if Clara hates me.. it may be better if they all do. It will save them a lot of trouble and heartache in the end. I buckled up, and sped away, going to the nearest restaurant.
