Chapter 5 : Reason For The Breakup

SKYLAR

I inhale sharply when my eyes open.

I wake up and I'm still on my bed.

None of my roommates are here. I pick up my phone, it's 6:17am.

"Where are they?" I mutter and get off my bed

I go into the washroom and wash up.

They are still not back when I return into the room to dress.

When I settle down after doing everything, I check the time again, 7:01

I'm about to call Reina when the door is pushed opened and they all enter.

"You are awake!!" That was Nyla and I nod

"Girl, how?" Becky asks as Reina sits on my bed, beside me.

"I don't know how. I just woke up." I respond

"Can we talk?" Nyla again and I nod again

"Alright, we'll be right back. This is your breakfast." Reina hands a paper bag to me and drag Becky out.

"I really want to apologize for last night."

"Okay?" I say in a question form cause she can't be done

"It's just that I am scared. Scared that very soon you won't even consider me your sister anymore. We used to be so close when we were little bit then I brought this between us when I started dating Marcus. I'm sorry, so sorry but can we just go back to how we used to be before? No more secrets and I'm sorry for saying you are complicated but I swear, the b word wasn't for you."

It's either she's telling the truth or she's a good liar cause all I see is sincerity but there's some that tells me she's not saying everything.

"Alright, we are cool." I hug her before she senses something is off

"You can come now!" I say loudly because I know Reina and Becky were eavesdropping.

"Where did you people go this early morning?" I asked as Reina and Becky entered

"We went to beat the girl that talked bad about you." That was Reina

"What?!" I am surprised

"She wanted to teach you a lesson just because you are the rep for Prof Regaleon's class. Isn't that sick?" Becky says

"Y'all know fighting is bad right?"

"She started it." Nyla replies

"See you two later. We have a class in 30mins time." Nyla says and leaves with Becky

Reina comes to sit on my bed once again and tuck my hair behind my ears.

"Are you okay though?" She asks

"Yes. Thank you, Reina."

"For what?"

"For everything." I hug her because I could really use a hug

"I need to tell you something."

"What? Is it Prof Michael?" I pull away from the hug because I'm very interested in whatever Reina has to say.

"Nope, I'm ditching you today." She says and I'm shook right away

"It won't be long. I'm just meeting with my brother, he's in town." She continues

"But I don't wa..."

"I'll meet you during class." She cuts me off

"Promise?" I ask her

"I promise."

REINA

After getting ready to leave, I say goodbye to Skylar then leave.

It's good to see her wake up on her own. She seems to be in a good mood this morning and that's great.

I'm meeting my brother in this café that's not really far from campus. I need to be back in time for class else Skylar will kill me with nagging.

I hail a cab to take me to the café.

When I get there and enter, Mark is nowhere to be found.

'This one better not be pranking me else he won't see what hit him.'

I make a reservation and sit down then send him the details and order something for the both of us.

'Let me check the assignment.'

I opened the post and start going through it then I spot a problem.

"Is this a mistake?" I ask myself then open the class platform

Everyone is talking about it except Skylar and I'm sure she hasn't even seen it.

I call her and inform her and she says she'll check with the lecturer. I'm about to tease her cause it's the perfect chance to meet Prof Regaleon when I see my brother walk in.

"I will see you soon." I tell her and she says okay then I hung up

The waitress brings the order as my brother sits down.

"You have a secret boyfriend? I'm a supportive brother so there's no need to hung up because of me."

"You don't know how to greet?" I ignore the subject he's trying to broach

"Hello, dear little sister. How is school?" He says while rolling his eyes

"School's great. What about you?" I ignore his sarcasm once more

"The school is stressing me out. I'm almost dead."

Oh boy, not this almost dead talk again

"So what are you doing in town?"

"I came to see someone." He replies and my first instinct is to tease him

"Who? Nyla?"

But he tenses up and I know I'm right

"If you love her that much then why did she break up with you?" When I ask, he looks at me like he has no intention to tell me so I probe further.

Is it your stamina? You are weak in bed?" I ask with my hand over my mouth like I'm shocked and he starts laughing.

I'm sure only my brother laughs during a conversation like this.

"What right do you have to have this conversation with me? Huh?" He pokes my forehead lightly with his index finger and all I can do is smile.

"Well, her mother hated my guts. I don't know what I did to the woman but I would always hear her warn Nyla because of me." He says and I'm like "What?!" in my head.

Mrs Gail is a good and lovely woman and Skylar tells me she still nags Nyla for leaving Marcus so what is Marcus saying?

"Really?" I ask him and he looks offended

It's funny.

"You asked and I told you and now you are making it seem like I'm telling lies." He's pouting now

"Okay, okay, sorry. It won't happen again." I apologize but he's still pouting.

"Then the bill's on you." He says and I have no choice than to agree. That's when he actually quits pouting.

I thought I was the little sister.

I've returned to campus but I still have one hour before the next class so I decide to go to Prof Michael's office.

"What am I going to say though?" I ask myself quietly

'Just be bold and tell him you've missed him.' My inner self answers

"But we have his class tomorrow."

'Do you miss him or not?'

"I do."

'Then go.'

"You are right." I take the direction to his office

My inner self has won this logical argument.

MICHAEL

The Alpha didn't come home last night after I snitched on him and got a whole meeting started just to discuss the issues concerning his mate. I've been trying to call him but I can't reach him. I have even been to his office but he wasn't there.

I put my phone down when he doesn't pick up this phone call as well.

"Is he having mood swings?"

I'm about to tell Reeds to mind link Ace when I hear someone knocking.

"Come in." I respond loudly and the door opens

'Mate!' Reeds exclaims as Reina walks in

'Yeah, I saw her.' I almost roll my eyes but I smile at Reina instead.

I am about to block Reeds when Reina speaks and I forget what I was going to do.

"Hello Prof." Her voice is angelic but there's this playfulness to it that makes me want to do things to her.

'Things like bending her over your desk?' Reeds ask

'Yeah, that's one of them.' My wolf and I share a mindset

"Reina, please have a seat." I say and she smiled as she sits down

"What brings you here? Do you need anything?" I ask her and she shakes her head

'She is cute.' Reeds says

I agree.

"I just wanted to see you. I've missed you." Reina responds

Wow, great.

I get up and walk to her. I turn her seat around and bend so my face is just a few inches away from hers. Her chocolatey and fresh roses smell hits me and I'm at the brink of losing my mind.

I can feel her breath fan my face.

"Really?" I ask and she nods

She sure is bold but she's blushing and I love it.

'I'm gonna kiss her'

'Do it!' Reeds is already shouting in my head

I move closer and my lips brush hers. All I feel is soft, warm, sweet. Her rose scent floods my senses and my wolf howls in satisfaction. It's like tasting chocolate and fresh roses at once, and it's not enough.

I press a little deeper, just for a second, and she lets out the smallest gasp against my mouth.

Then my phone rings and I jump back while holding my chest.

'Holy s**t!' Reeds comments first

I look at Reina, ready to apologize when she bursts into laughter.

I let out a smile involuntarily.

She's really cute.

I go over and check who's calling.

The Alpha

Brother has got his own ways of messing with me.

I look at Reina and she gets up.

"I have a class so I gotta run. See you tomorrow." She says with a cute wave and walks out.

I pick up the second ring of my phone.

"What do you want?" I couldn't stop myself

"What do I want? You've called me like 10 times." He says

"Yeah, where are you? Everyone waited for you the entire night." I ask him

"Come to my office in 2 hours time. I have a class to lecture." With that, he hangs up

"What?!"

'That is what he had to say? And he ruined our moment?' Even Reeds is pissed

I have made a mental note to take revenge on him.

REGALEON

The thoughts I've been having since yesterday made me know that I couldn't go home. I knew Michael as my beta had to inform them about my mate but if he talked about her being marked already then there would be a meeting and then probably I would have to reject her but I don't want to.

That mark, I don't know but it speaks to me somehow. I had a dream for the first time in ages and it I saw the mark. It also shone brightly at me and I know Sky is my only mate for sure.

I haven't seen her since she came for the assignment but she's all I've been thinking about so help me Goddess.

I enter the lecture hall and leave once the lecture is over.

'Ace.'

'Regaleon.'

'Why did you take over when you saw her mark?'

'I didn't. I was wondering why you did it. What if we scared her off?' Ace says and I'm a little perplexed because I know I didn't touch the mark on my own. Something pushed me.

Then I woke up in the morning sweating bullets when I didn't even have a nightmare.

'Wait, Skylar, is she fine? Maybe she was in trouble.'

I think to myself and decide to summon her into my office once I get there but then I enter and Michael's already in there.

"You are actually early." I take my seat

"Do you know what you interrupted with your call?" He asks me and I nod.

I know cause I smell another scent that's not his from him and it's feminine.

"You are cheating on your mate?" I ask and I hear Reeds growl

I know he isn't but I just felt like asking.

"She's so into me. I feel like the Moon Goddess is compensating me since it took so long for me to find her. I mean, we could have a pup by now." When my Beta says that, I couldn't help with my reply.

"Oh yeah, I trust you."

He looks at me with a face.

"You are so annoying, Alpha." The sentence and title are contrast but I don't say anything

"Why didn't you come home?"

"I needed time to think. Did the meeting hold?" I ask

"Yes and all that's left is your acceptance to reject your mate and choose another mate." He says and I glare at him

"I won't reject her." I'm firm with my sentence.

"Why? You have to. She's going to be the Luna Queen and she has already been marked. The pack will never accept that." Michael says

"Mike, I couldn't even control myself and touched her when I saw her mark. Ace says it wasn't him. I also dreamt of the mark and usually, we get pissed when our mates are not pure but I'm not. Ace isn't either."

"That's messed up."

"That's why I asked you to come over."

"I won't help you. I can't." He's quick to say

"Just listen first. When I touched the mark, I felt it. I have never felt that way before. Do you think I would feel a thing if it was another man's mark? It was also a beautiful mark, it could be a birthmark. I just need your help with investigating it."

"You think it's a birthmark?" He asks me and I can't lie so I say no.

"Then what other proof do you need?" He asks

"I don't want any proof, Michael. I know she's the one. Skylar is my mate." Immediately I land, the vanilla and rain hit me.

I look over and it's her, Skylar.
