CHAPTER FIVE

"Good morning," the ladies greeted in unison, rousing from their early start. However, Mitchie was already up and busy in the kitchen, preparing breakfast. "Morning! Have you said your prayers?" Mitchie asked, dressed in a vibrant blue, red, and white ensemble. She sported a bobble hat on her head and wore oven mitts on her hands. "Not yet, but we'll do that now," Lily replied. After their prayers, they all joined Mitchie in the kitchen. "Ladies, I have a meeting with Owen George at his office this morning to discuss our payment," Mitchie informed the group. "Sure thing, no problem," Angelina chimed in. ×ו×× At the entrance of Owen Cosmetics and Make-up company, Mitchie stood clad in a brown turtleneck shirt adorned with stripes, complemented by a black jacket and black jeans. After parking her car, she put on her glasses and entered the five-story white building, abuzz with activity from various departments. Inside the company, Mitchie was captivated by the exquisite surroundings and diverse sections, including cosmetics manufacturing and makeup studios. Making her way to the fifth floor, she sought out Owen George's office. ~~•~~ On the fifth floor, Mitchie noticed a young woman stationed at a table covered with assorted books and a laptop. Adjacent to her sat a door. Mitchie approached the busy young woman. "Good day, I'm here to see Mr. Owen George," Mitchie stated. "Same here. Did you have an appointment?" the young woman inquired. "Not exactly, but we need to discuss some matters," Mitchie replied. "Alright, let me inform him," the young lady said, dialing Owen George's number. "Hello, sir. There's someone here to see you," she relayed through the phone. "Okay, what's the name?" After obtaining the details, the young lady turned to Mitchie. "He said you can go in through that door," she indicated. "Thank you. By the way, may I know your name?" Mitchie asked. "I'm Sandra," the young lady replied. "Alright, Sandra. I'll catch you later. Goodbye," Mitchie waved as she entered Owen's office. "Good morning, Mr. Owen." "Morning, Mitchie. How's your day going?" "Very well," Mitchie responded. After exchanging pleasantries, they delved into discussions, including financial matters. Their conversation lasted for about thirty minutes before Mitchie departed for home. ______ "Jim, Jim," Owen's phone rang. "Hello, I'm the managing director of Green Mints Event Center. Could I speak with Mr. Owen?" "Yes, go ahead." "I'm calling to confirm whether you'll still be using the event center." "Absolutely, we'll be using it. I hope it's elegantly designed and not rented to anyone else." "Understood. Goodbye." "Likewise, goodbye," Owen replied, ending the call. Feeling fatigued from the efforts he'd invested in the wedding preparations, he headed home to rest. An influx of calls, both pertinent and irrelevant, prompted him to temporarily switch off his phone. _______ "Hello, ladies. Olivia's friend is marrying the CEO of Owen Cosmetics and Make-up company," Ava shared with her bandmates. "What's that got to do with us?" Sophia questioned. "That was a bit harsh," Emma interjected. "No worries. Olivia wants us to perform at the wedding party." "Sounds exciting," Sophia remarked. "Sounds fantastic," Emma added, preoccupied with her own thoughts. "My apologies for the earlier comment, ladies. It was unintentional," Sophia apologized. "No problem," Ava assured. "But there's a catch," Ava continued. "What's that?" Emma and Sophia asked, now attentive. "Another performer will be there." "Who else is performing?" Emma inquired. "Mitchie." "Mitchie?" Emma and Sophia exclaimed in unison, exchanging glances. "She sings acapella. Even if she competes, she knows she won't win," Sophia scoffed. "She won't overshadow our band. Acapella songs tend to bore me, like..." Emma added. "True, despite our international recognition and numerous victories, people still adore her songs," Ava pointed out. "Let's see who grabs the spotlight after the wedding," Emma challenged. _~•~_ ~AVA'S MUSIC BAND~ Ava established the band around fifteen years ago, nurtured by her parents' unwavering support for her musical ambitions. The band, among the youngest in the U.S. music scene, gained prominence with their riveting performance of "Come and Dance," which featured mesmerizing dance steps, during an event in Australia. They were heralded as the "youngest active band" and continued to captivate audiences with their music.
