I sat at my desk, grading papers, when the soft knock on my office door interrupted my focus. It was a welcome distraction, to be honest, as the stack of essays in front of me was starting to blur together.
I called out for the visitor to enter, expecting one of my students seeking extra help or perhaps a colleague with a question about
the upcoming faculty meeting.
But it was neither.
It was Jenifer, my best friend's little sister, though she was far
from little now.
She stood in the doorway, a mischievous
