“I can do this, I can do this,” I mumbled under my breath while running towards the other end of the woods. My lungs were burning and begging me to stop and catch a breath, but I knew, if I stopped even for a single second, then they would catch me and I would lose my freedom forever. I heard the howls of the two alphas behind me and I wanted to close my ears because it was feeling like someone poured hot melting lava in my ear.
