Chapter-7

I jerked my head back quickly, rubbing my forehead from the impact, and my eyes met the face of a hulking man in ragged clothes, a repulsive grin on his lips, reeking of something cheap and nasty. He looked at me, taking in my features, and a clear, greedy intent flashed in his eyes. Before I could take even one step back, his filthy hand shot out and gripped my wrist tightly as he leaned in with an oily tone. "Oh... what's a pretty, gorgeous girl like you doing in our neighborhood? Lost your way, sweetheart? Come with me, I'll show you the right way..." I was so disgusted my skin was crawling! "Let go of me, you filth!" I screamed at him firmly, yanking hard to free my hand, but his grip was massive and unyielding. He let out a crude laugh, pulling me closer. "That sharp voice of yours is nice... I like a little fight—" Before he could finish his sentence, the rage in my head hit its absolute peak. I remembered my pride, remembered that I was saving myself for my handsome prince, and there was no way I was letting some insect like him touch me! I gathered every ounce of strength I had, lifted my leg in its sharp-heeled shoe, and slammed it with everything I had straight between his legs! The man dropped to his knees instantly, clutching himself, letting out a strangled groan as his face turned blue from the pain. I shook out my hand in disgust, as if I'd just touched the plague, and shot him a look of pure, lethal contempt. "I knew men in this world were garbage, but you're first-class filth! Don't you dare even think about touching me again, you disgusting creep YOU SON OF A b***h!" I hiked up my silk dress again and sprinted past him, running as fast as my legs could carry me, out of that cursed alley and back toward the upscale streets I ran as fast as I possibly could, out of that cursed alley! I didn't stop running until I felt the luxurious scent of the bakery hit my face again, and saw the bright light and clean marble of the upscale district. I stopped at the edge of the wide street, leaning against a cold marble wall, gasping heavily, clutching my chest to catch my breath. I quickly fixed my hair and checked my dress to make sure it was still intact. "Damn it," I whispered to myself, closing my eyes in a mix of pain and relief. "Damn this world, and damn the slums! I swear I am never leaving the wealthy district again!" And then, just as I was trying to catch my breath and fix the strands of hair the running had scattered, the sound of horse hooves—rhythmic and loud—rose up from the main upscale street. Foot traffic came to a complete stop. Everyone stepped back to the sides of the road in reverence and awe, while I stood leaning against the stone wall, watching the scene with curiosity. A magnificent royal procession passed by! Knights in gleaming silver armor carried golden imperial banners, and in the middle rolled an extravagant black carriage, adorned with pure gold engravings, pulled by four horses as dark as black snow. My eyes widened, and my chest suddenly tightened with a powerful gut feeling. This aura... this terrifying grandeur... this couldn't belong to some ordinary nobleman! And just as the lavish carriage passed directly in front of me, a light gust of wind lifted the black velvet curtain over the window for one single second. And in that brief moment, the corner of my eye caught a quick glimpse of the interior: a man sitting with fierce pride, dressed in dark royal black attire. He had a jawline sharp as a blade, hair falling with commanding elegance, and features that were handsome in a dangerous, terrifying way... the features of a true, merciless tyrant! I froze in place, a cold shiver running through my entire body. The curtain snapped shut immediately, and the procession continued on its stately way, trailed by murmurs of the crowd and their fear of the prince's terrifying aura. As for me? I froze in place for one single second, before my smile widened and my eyes turned into sparkling pink hearts, glittering with pure excitement! I pressed my hands to my burning cheeks, bouncing lightly on my feet like a little kid, and whispered in a voice dripping with joy and drama: "My future husband My prince! Yayyyy! I finally saw him!" Then I straightened the collar of my red silk dress and lifted my head with pride, watching the procession disappear into the distance. "Handsome, sharp, a jawline that could cut glass, and a dangerous tyrant... exactly my type! Get ready, my dear husband, because your future wife is on her way to you!"
