Suspension!
The word rang in my mind like a bell. How dare they? It was obviously a lie. If Albert Windsor actually had evidence, I’d be in jail or fired, not suspended.
They were plotting something, and not knowing what was sending unease through my body.
I needed my position, the access, the influence, and the leverage, but for now, I’d have to find something else to rely on. Something that was in no way attached to the Windsor influence.
My grip tightened on the wheel as I recalled the board meeting. I had walked in there off guard, and they’d used that against me. Undermined me once again.
