Idris’s POV
I watched as the buildings blurred by; the sunshine shone down on the crowded streets.
Traffic was horrible, as always, but a smile remained glued to my face. The deal with Charlotte’s father was basically sealed. One meeting, and we were simply one step away from finalizing it.
The car came to a halt outside the bookstore, Lucy’s frequent meeting place. She was never reading, though; she always just sat there with a cup of coffee and a smug look on her face.
I stepped inside and spotted her tucked into a booth at a corner, her fingers wrapped around a coffee mug.
She stared down into the cup, her usual smug look nowhere to be seen.
