The next morning, I woke up early. The air was cool and sunlight streamed through the windows. My thoughts were already racing about the journey ahead. After getting ready, I headed downstairs for breakfast. Killian sat at the table, sipping coffee.
“You’re up early,” he said, glancing at me with a small smile.
I nodded. “Couldn’t sleep much. Too much on my mind.”
He chuckled. “You’re not the only one. Ready to hunt for a rare flower in the middle of nowhere?”
I sat down and picked at the toast on my plate. “As ready as I’ll ever be. We don’t have much time, do we?”
Killian shook his head. “No, which is why I think we should leave as soon as we finish eating. The forest past the eastern border isn’t exactly easy to navigate.”
