LYRA'S POV
“I will not marry him, Mum,” I argued, grabbing my mum's hands. She looked at me with sad eyes and I knew there was nothing I could do to change my father's mind.
“He is not that bad, Lyra,” she said softly. I shook my head. That was a lie.
Alpha Orion was not bad. He was the Devil incarnate. A demon that transformed into a wolf. How could they try to sell me to him like I meant nothing?
“Are you trying to send me away again? This time for good?” I whispered as tears sprang to my eyes, choking me.
“Of course not!”
I pushed her hands away and ran out of her room. Everything was wrong. My whole existence was a mistake. I was wolfless and pregnant. Now my parents are trying to force me to get married.
I didn't know what to do anymore. Octavia had told me all I needed to know about my future husband. He was our enemy, a ruthless Lycan. No one had ever survived his wrath.
How could they accept his terms of marrying me? My hands wiped the tears falling from my eyes as I walked to my room. No, I won't be forced to marry someone I didn't love.
**************************
He was here, my supposed husband. My hands unconsciously went to my stomach. Fear was something I never felt, but I was so scared.
What if he finds out I'm carrying someone else's child? Would I be able to survive this torment?
Octavia had her arms wrapped around me, providing me with comfort. I was standing in front of my mirror, looking at myself. I never thought I'd be getting married so soon. The gown on my body made me look foreign. This wasn't me.
“There is still time to change your parents’ minds,” Octavia whispered, looking at me through the mirror.
I sighed and walked to sit on the bed. “I have cried and yelled and pleaded with them several times. The pack needed the alliance was the only thing Father said. There's nothing more I can do.”
The future seemed hopeless. Octavia shook her head, walking to me. “Don't give up. Why should you give up your future for a pack that doesn't love you?”
I pursed my lips without answering. Indeed, the pack members hated me. They saw me as a snob, a weakling, and the unfit daughter of their precious Alpha. I had even heard someone say Octavia would have made a perfect Alpha daughter due to her beauty and dominant wolf.
“Listen to me, when the wedding starts, you can boldly reject Alpha Orion in front of everyone. I'm sure he wouldn't want to marry an unwilling bride,” she advised.
“But won't that break the alliance?” I asked, frowning. It was a risky thing to do. I considered the rumors I'd heard about him. He could kill me out of rage.
“Well, do you want to die at your husband's hands?” She wrapped her arms around her chest and stared at me with an exasperated look.
“I've heard no one survived a night with him due to his large beast. You're not even a wolf, Lyra. Just listen to me and protect yourself and your child,” she advised.
That was true. I stood up. I won't give up until my breath. “Thank you, Vee. You're the only one who has been my supporter from the first day,” I smiled and pulled her for a hug.
“That's right,” she grinned. “Come on, let's go cause some havoc,” she pulled away, and we walked out of my room.
My dress was given to me by my mother. It was the same dress she wore when she got married to my father, and now I was wearing it to reject my husband.
When we arrived in the hall, the whole pack became silent. My father, Alpha Alexander, saw me and walked towards me with pride in his eyes.
“You look just like your mother,” he whispered, hooking his arms around my elbow. His statement would have made me happy if he wasn't forcing me to get married. I tried to smile as we walked to the aisle.
Suddenly, all the hairs on my neck stood when I saw who was standing in the aisle, waiting for me. It was him, a face I would never forget. His green eyes watched me till we stopped in front of him.
“You,” I whispered, and immediately his face changed.
“Is this your daughter, Alexander?” He turned to my father. My eyes widened. Why was he here? Is he Alpha Orion?
“Yes, Orion,” my father answered eagerly.
I gasped and took a step back. What was this cruel fate? The man I had a one-night stand with turned out to be Alpha Orion. No, it was impossible. I couldn't have gotten pregnant by this demon.
Suddenly he chuckled. “How dare you give me a w***e as a mate?” He growled, his eyes turning black. Everyone gasped, and I felt the air around me shift. My neck felt like it was being choked.
Was this the power of a Lycan? I glanced around to see the fear in my father's eyes. It infuriated me. “Who are you calling a w***e? Do you think I want to be married to you?” I yelled at him, furious at his choice of words.
His eyes burned with rage. I could see the fire visibly in his eyes, just like that night. He grabbed my neck and pulled me closer to him. “Repeat those words and watch me cut your tongue,” he threatened with his deep voice.
I shivered in fear, unable to speak anymore. My mouth went dry. These same hands had once brought me pleasure. I couldn't believe it was the same hands, wriggling my neck.
“Alpha Orion, I would not tolerate such disrespect of my daughter in my pack,” I heard my father's voice faintly. Just like before, I was being pulled by Orion's mesmerizing green eyes.
I felt a hand grab me and pull me away, making me gasp. “Stop this!” My father bellowed.
“I would not have you question my daughter's honor,” he grumbled.
Orion smirked, staring at me. “Why don't we ask your daughter about her honor?” He hissed, and all eyes turned to me.
I glanced at Octavia for strength. She nodded, giving me the go-ahead. “Don't try to frame me, Alpha. I don't want to get married to you. I never wanted it and I won't be forced to,” I yelled, raising my chin defiantly.
My father's eyes widened. “What are you saying, Lyra? You will marry him,” he insisted.
“No,” was my only reply.
“It seems your daughter is not as bright as the rumors,” Orion murmured, all traces of anger gone. He looked amused. What a strange man.
“I'm sorry for wasting your time, Alpha, but this wedding will not be happening,” I said again before turning to leave.
“If you walk out of here, don't ever come back,” he announced coldly, stopping me. I rolled my eyes. He was not my Alpha. He has no right to banish me.
“You don't have the right,” I hissed, glaring at him. He nodded and glanced at my father.
“Come back here, Lyra,” my father yelled. He looked desperate and ready to do anything for Orion. I couldn't believe it.
“I'm ashamed of you, Father,” I whispered, shaking my head before running away from the hall.
“Lyra!” I heard him yell but refused to stop. How could my own father side with a total stranger? This was not how I expected the night to go.
I ran into the woods, unable to stop myself, and screamed in agony. My life was over.
