CHAPTER3

ORION'S POV I could smell the fear of these weaklings around me as we waited for Alpha Alexander's daughter. My wolf was already filled with wrath and becoming impatient. I was not a patient man, but due to my respect for Alexander, I decided to wait. It won't be for long though. Two men entered the hall and whispered something to Alexander. His expression changed and all the blood evaporated from his face. That was all I needed to know. “It's been more than thirty minutes, Alexander. Do you want my wrath to descend on this pack?” I sneered. He glanced at me. I could see the apprehension in his eyes. “I apologize for the delay, Alpha Orion, but we are unable to find my daughter. Please give me some time,” he answered politely. I growled and stood. How dare he ask me to keep waiting for his w***e of a daughter? “You dare to keep me waiting?” I bellowed, allowing my wolf to take control. He released our dominant aura and it filled the hall. Some of the members fell to their knees, but it didn't pacify me. What I wanted was blood. This alliance didn't benefit me in any way, yet I had agreed to it. I took threatening steps towards him. Alexander became tense immediately but stood his ground. He was an Alpha after all. “Where is she?” I spat out. He looked away from me, confirming my suspicion. “She has run away, hasn't she?” His eyes widened. “This alliance has been called off. Get your men ready,” I announced, and turned to leave. Suddenly, I felt his arm on my shoulders. It irked me so I pushed his hands away. His men growled at me and my men growled back, coming forward. “It hasn't come to that,” Alexander's voice wavered. “Alpha, if I may,” I heard a young voice from below and turned to see who it was. A young girl came forth, her eyes filled with fear, but there was something else, admiration. “How dare you speak to me? Guards,” I yelled, and immediately my men grabbed her and brought her in front of me. My claws were itching to come out. I wanted to claw her pretty face, staining it with blood to appease my anger. “I… I apologize,” she squeaked, bowing her head to the floor. “Take her away,” I waved my hands and my men began pulling her out of the hall. “Please, Alpha, I know how to help you,” she screamed desperately, and it caught my attention. Alexander's lips thinned, which made me more curious. What did the young girl mean by that? “Stop!” I yelled and they stopped at the door. “Come closer, girl,” I demanded. She walked towards me while her hands trembled. That's right, she was scared. A young girl filled with fear and respect, the kind of power I loved. Alexander suddenly shuffled closer. “Can we go to my office, I think it would be more conducive for this uhm… agreement,” he cleared his throat while looking uncomfortable. I glanced at him. He was already embarrassed and the pack members had started looking at him with anger and contempt. “Lead the way,” I agreed, and he took me to his office. When we arrived, he quickly gave me a glass of whiskey before sitting down. I wasn't interested in drinks, I knew he was just trying to make me calm after what had happened earlier. Alpha Alexander's daughter had to pay for the damage she had caused too, that is if they wanted me to proceed with the alliance. “C'mon drink up, I won't poison you.” Alpha Alexander said and pushed the drink closer to me. Without hesitation, I poured everything in my mouth and hit the glass cup on his office table. “How do you plan on fixing the damage your daughter had caused earlier? She must pay for disgracing me, Alpha, or else,” I hissed at him. I understand he wanted our packs to be at peace, but he wouldn't want to insult me twice, would he? Perhaps his daughter would have to pay for the crimes. Even though I rejected her as my mate, I want her in my pack. That would be the only way I would be able to control Alexander. “The patrol team is still looking for her,” Alpha Alexander muttered. “Are they?” I c****d my eyebrow. If there is one thing I'm aware of, it's that if someone is trying to stall for time, then the case is hopeless. I mindlinked my Beta immediately and gave him an order. After a while, someone knocked on the door before opening it. It was James, my Beta. He pulled Alexander's wife inside while another man brought the rude girl from earlier. Alexander jumped to his feet, with his eyes wide with anger. “What is the meaning of this, Orion?” He roared. Smirking, I nodded at James. He grabbed the Luna's face and pressed hard. “Alpha Orion, I will not stand here and watch you hurt my wife and my pride in my pack,” Alexander yelled, and immediately his men entered the room, cramping the small space. This was unbelievable! I scoffed. “You dare threaten me,” I hissed. “Do you want a replay of what happened years ago?” He glanced at his wife and his hands turned into a fist. “If you keep hurting my wife, then yes,” he stood his ground. I would give it to him, he was a stupid Alpha. Alexander was strong, but he was no match for me. Stupid wolves think they can fight a Lycan. “You brought me to your pack, Alexander, and promised me a bride in exchange for an alliance. Instead of giving me what we agreed on, an untouched bride, you gave me your w***e of a daughter. Now, she has run away and smashed my pride to the ground, and you think your pride is the important thing here?” I yelled. I walked up to his mate and grabbed her throat. “Give me what I want or I'll snap her neck right now. We have to be even after all. I lose a bride, and you lose a mate,” I grinned, thinking about it. There was no way in hell I would be the only one suffering the loss. Alexander watched as my eyes tightened on his mate's neck. “You're being unreasonable!” He groaned and tried to come close when James stood in front of him. He growled. “My daughter belongs to you already, so leave my wife out of this,” he kept on arguing. “And if I don't?” I asked, tightening my grip. She gasped and started hitting my arm. “Lyra will come back, Alpha,” the young girl from earlier exclaimed. I growled and my men grabbed her mouth. “I'll have to kill this one for speaking out of turn too,” I told Alexander. He looked conflicted. “She is telling the truth, Orion. Lyra would come back,” he argued. “And how does she know that? Was it planned?” I growled. “No, she is Lyra's best friend,” he announced, looking frustrated. I noticed the Luna's blood was beginning to slip out. I had injured her unknowingly. Pushing her away, I stood upright. He ran to her, pulling her to his side. “Then I would have to take her with me,” I told him. “Orion, that was not…” “You went back on your word, Alexander. I will be holding her captive as my mistress until you send your daughter to me. It shouldn't take long though or else I'll come back again,” I threatened. He kept quiet and looked at her with pity. That was all I needed. He had made his decision. “Take her away,” I ordered, and my men pulled her away from the office. “I'll be back,” I assured them. It was a word of promise and I intended to keep it.
