Chapter 12

Rome

My eyes remained red no matter how much blood I consumed and Jared was looking at me with a grin.

“What?” I asked shaking my head at the computer screen.

“You seem different every time we speak but today you are greatly changed. You missed our meeting last night care to explain?”, Jared said his grin growing. My ears were focused on the breathing of my mate upstairs sleeping. I felt wrong to be away from her after our eventful night. I craved her like a man in the desert craved water. I ran my hands up and down my shaking thighs.

“My apologies”, I said “Now what did I miss?” I asked. Jared threw his head back in laughter as I gritted my teeth. I was no virgin there was one vampire when I was twenty that Jared knew about. We only hooked up a few times but I was unable to feel anything for her. Nothing compared to what I experienced last night.

“I do have a small mission for you. This guy name Marcus has information on some suspicious activity at a storage unit. It may be Helios it may not but as we know a win is a win. I'm sending you the location to meet up with him now”. My phone dinged a second later and my eyes rolled at the location.

“Yes, I would advise you to leave the misses at home tonight. I have a shipment of blood coming tomorrow morning for you.” Jared continued.

“Thank you, I plan to complete the union soon”, I said.

“Have you explained the whole process to Mina?” Jared asked looking visibly concerned.

“Yes, taking some of her blood doesn't concern her it's draining her to the brink of death part that gets her riled up,” I said while squeezing my eyes shut. I had never changed anyone into a vampire before and I struggled with the possibility of doing it wrong.

“You can do this Rome, it will come naturally to you don't worry your instincts will take over,” Jared said firmly.

“The longer you hold out the harder it will be not just for you but those around you,” he continued. My eyes opened to find that June and Iris standing behind Jared.

“Anyway, I'll have a team ready to meet you once you secure the storage location. I'll be in touch” Jared stated before ending the call. I twirled in my chair as soon as I heard Mina’s foot hit the first stair. My body instantly reacted to my scent all over her and that's the way I want to keep it. Mina was wrapped in a small blanket that barely covered her naked body. My eyes latched onto my bite marks on the swell of her breast and down her neck. She was mine but not completely.

“Am I interrupting?”, she asked sweetly causing my eyes to run over her plum-pink lips.

“No, join me”, I said “I've missed you”.

“I've missed you too”, Mina said as she approached. I pulled her into my lap and kissed her forehead.

“We got a lead and Jared wants me to meet with them tonight,” I said looking into her beautiful brown eyes. The excitement in her eyes caused me to smile and I could already guess her next words.

“Can I come?” she asked pressing into me more. I moved my hand in between her legs and rubbed her slowly. Her lips parted and her head fell back as my fingers picked up the pace. I slid a finger inside her warmth and found she was already wet for me.

“Of course, you can come”, I whispered as I lifted her and laid her across the coffee table. I fell to my

knees and pushed her thighs apart. My head bent to taste what belonged to me for eternity. Mina’s hands gripped my hair tightly as her moans grew louder and louder.

“I thought you wanted to come? Come for me, Mina” I said while locking my hands around her thighs to pull her closer to the edge of the table. My tongue licked along her inner thigh before biting down.

“Rome!” she moaned as I fed from her. I released my bite and kissed down the length of her leg slowly smelling her climax in the air. Mina sat up as I reached her ankle breathing heavily. I looked up into her eyes and smiled innocently.

“What?”, I asked pulling her onto my lap.

“That's not what I meant,” she said bending to leave soft kisses along my jawline. Her hand traveled down to grip the bulge through my shorts and I growled. Mina moved to straddle my lap her hand moving to pull my shaft free. Our eyes locked as her folds parted around me. My eyes closed taking in the tight walls I had come so obsessed with. Mina rose and fell over me lazily dragging out her pleasure and I remained motionless as I opened my eyes to watch her beautiful face as she made love to me. Mina felt so right to me I knew this was it for me it would only be her. I did nothing to deserve this fate but I will cherish it with every last fiber of my soul.

Mina

I sat on the couch watching Rome tie his black boots as he prepared for his mission tonight. My body felt more satisfied than it did last night. Will it always feel like this? Will I feel better and better every time he touches me or moved within me? I felt different, my whole body felt different my emotions were more intense. Rome tucked a gun into his waistband before turning to face me. He looked sexy as hell but I held back the comment because I was supposed to be upset about not going. Especially since it was a strip club this informant wanted to meet at. I rolled my eyes at Rome and tried to focus on the popcorn in my lap.

“I don't get to pick the meeting location”, Rome said for the third time tonight and I ignored him for the third time as well.

“Here, it's an earpiece you'll be able to communicate with me throughout the night”, Rome said this time grabbing my attention. He held the tiny earpiece out to me and I took it sticking it into my right ear.

“Let me help you,” he said while sitting and then brushed my hair away from my face. Something clicked and a static sound blasted in my ear before clearing.

“This is neat,” I said looking up into his red eyes. I hadn't seen the blue version in almost twenty-four hours and he explained it was because he needed to change me. I felt scared but every part of me wanted to be with him.

“I want you to trust me”, he whispered close to my ear causing me to shiver.

“I do trust you” I whispered turning my face to look at him. He smiled before leaning in to kiss me lightly, I held my hands in my lap resisting the urge to pull him to me. We struggled all day to stay away from each other and I knew if I reacted he wouldn't leave. This night was important for us and I wanted to be supportive.

I pulled away and looked at the movie playing in front of me. Rome chuckled before pushing off the couch.

“Come walk me to the door to set the alarm,” Rome said while pulling me to my feet.

My heart ached with each step we made and unexpected tears fell from my eyes. I quickly wiped the wetness from my face but the tears continued to fall wow this was perfect, just great.

“Okay this alarm covers the house and surrounding woods so you just type in the code and press this button and that's it,” Rome said before turning to face me and I turned a second after.

“Okay”, I said trying to get the tears to stop, please get a hold of yourself.

“Mina?” Rome asked and gripped my waist. I turned and threw myself in his arms burying my face into his shirt.

“I'll make this as quick as possible”, he said as he wrapped his arms around me. Rome gave me a tight squeeze before pulling away from me. He pulled a pair of black sunglasses from his pocket placing them over his eyes. I still felt his gaze after losing sight of those red eyes.

“Mina I-”, Rome paused “I'll see you when I get back” he continued with a shake of his head. I nodded and held the door open with a knot in my stomach.

“I'll see you then” I whispered looking up at his handsome face. Rome’s thumb brushed my cheek gently before leaning to brush his lips against mine. The kiss started slow and the fire engulfed us leaving us both out of breath and wanting more. Rome released his hold on me and walked to the car. I waited until the taillights disappeared around the curb before closing the door and setting the alarm. I needed to keep busy because I was a ball of nerves right now.
