Chapter 2 - Does he hate you?

2419 Words
Angelina and Lola finally got to their classroom. The lesson was boring as always, but Angelina didn't care. She always took notes about the smallest amount of information, always trying to stay ahead of the rest of her class. The teacher wasn't much to speak of either, her voice was always monotone and she made half the classroom fall asleep by talking. After the teachers' presentation was over, she handed out a quiz to every student. Angelina was swift and got to work pretty quickly. Lola on the other hand had a question that was nagging and tickling her brain after what happened by the lockers with Ezio. After a little while she could not contain herself anymore. As the teacher walked out of the classroom and the others started chatting, she tapped Angelina on the shoulder. Angelina turned to Lola. "Yes? Do you need help with any of the questions or are you going to waste time by asking something completely unrelated to this task?" Lola gave her a sinister grin. "I think that was the dumbest question you have ever asked me and yes, I am in fact going to ask you something unrelated to this... Whatever THIS is." Angelina smiled and rolled her eyes. Lola was probably the only one who could distract her when it came to tasks. As much as she denied it, she liked having someone there that could give her a mental break from school. "Alright... Hit me." "BABY ONE MORE TIME!" "LOLA!" They laughed a little bit before they became serious again. "I just want to ask something that has been bothering me for some time to be completely honest..." "Yeeessss?" Lola took a deep breath and looked into her best friend's eyes. "Why do you hate Ezio so much?" Angelina paused. She had told Lola before, but she did not have anything against reminding her once again. "I've told you so many times Lola, I'm surprised that you don't have the story drilled into your brain at this point." "I know, it's just hard to believe that you hate the Greek god in this hell hole. Tell me again please?" Angelina looked at her, she could never resist her "puppy dog" eyes. "Alright, I'll tell you the story, but after this I won't tell you again." "I promise you my sweet cupcake. I will never ask again!" Angelina chuckled a little and smiled, she gave out a big sigh. "I had a big crush on Ezio last year, I thought he was super cool and I would always admire him from a distance. For some reason I had finally mustered up the courage to tell him how I felt about him, even though he didn't know who I was. I thought the risk of rejection would be far less if I confessed on my birthday, big mistake as you know." Lola nodded her head in agreement. She never forgot this part of the story. It was horrible to watch when it happened. "Anyways, the day of my birthday came and I was more than ready to confess. I went up to him during lunch break when he sat at one of the tables in the middle of the cafeteria, I tapped him on the shoulder and the moment he faced me I told him it was my birthday and confessed. There was silence. He then stood up, looked at me and with a cold voice he said 'NO'. I was heartbroken, as if that wasn't enough, he proceeded to give me every reason why he would never want to be with someone like me. Everyone laughed at me and after that I have never been able to forgive him. The funny thing is now that I don't like him at all he wants to get in my pants all the time." "... Sooo you hate him because you didn't get what you wanted? Or am I missing something?" Angelina glared at her best friend. Had she not listened to anything she had just told her? "Lola... I hate him because he made a joke out of me, an innocent girl with a crush on the hottest boy in school, in front of everyone." "I remember it like it was yesterday! That must have been so embarrassing for you!" Lola and Angelina turned their heads back to see one of the so-called "nerds" eavesdropping on their conversation. "John..." "Yea Lola?" "This is a private conversation between us two, get your creep head out of peoples business and do your homework that isn't due in six months." "Yes, sorry!" The girls turned back to face each other. Lola looked at her, more puzzled than ever. This made no sense. "Then let me ask one more question." "Alright..." "Why does he hate you?" Angelina was, for once, speechless. She had never even thought of this before. 'Does he hate you?'. Angelina scrambled around in her head for an answer, but nothing. She had nothing, no reason as to why he would hate her. He must truly hate her, right? He finds joy in annoying her and he never gives her a moment's peace. She looked back at her friend with a confused expression. "I... Actually, I don't know why he hates me to be completely honest with you. Maybe I embarrassed him in front of everyone that day? Or maybe he hates me because he can't get in my pants? That doesn't make sense though, because he embarrassed me and he has been rejected before and never has he gone after them." "Hm, shouldn't you know why he hates you? I mean, you guys are like oil and water." "Why should I know why he hates me? If you're so keen to know go ask him!" Lola gave Angelina a fake laugh and turned back to her quiz. For the first time in a long time, Angelina could not focus the rest of the remaining time in her class. Her head repeated the same thing over and over again. Why did he hate her? What did she do to make him hate her this much? Before Angelina knew it, the bell rang and it was finally time for lunch. Lola looked at Angelina, then down at her quiz. "Yo Angie, I think this is the first time you haven't finished your task in class. Anyways, it's lunch time. Get your bootay up and going!" Angelina snapped out of it and packed her things. Hopefully, the cafeteria wasn't too full today. Angelina and Lola quickly walked down the hall to the cafeteria, they walked in and quickly realized that there were absolutely no seats left for any of them. They quickly scanned the room to see if they could spot someone that they knew. Lola poked Anelina with her elbow and pointed at a group of girls from their chemistry class. They quickly made their way to where the girls were seated, walking past Ezio and his boys quickly to hopefully not get noticed by him. Lola tried walking past them slower, but Angelina was quick to drag her away. They stopped at their table, and as they stood there, all of them turned to them. "Hi guys! Could we sit with you? The whole cafeteria is packed with people." They all smiled at Lola and Angelina. "Yes, of course you can sit with us. We'll make some space for you!" They all hopped a bit to the side on the bench to make room for them, they were always happy to see Angelina and Lola. After they made themselves comfortable, Lola looked at Angelina. She had put her pleading face on and memorized her speech. "Angelina?" "I will not pay for your food again. You owe me for the five other times." "Wooow, so you're just going to let me starve. You are so mean!" Angelina rolled her eyes. "It's not like that, you just never bring money or, you know... A LUNCHBOX!" "Gurl, I'm NOT eating sweaty cheese again and you know that very well!" Lola looked at Angelina. Angelina stared back at her. "Fine..." "OMG I LOVE YOU SO MUCH. YOU ARE MY BEST FRIEND FOREVER. I WILL NEVER DOUBT YOU EVER AGAIN!" "Yea... Don't overdo it babe." Lola winked at Angelina, she had to laugh at her. No matter what Lola did, she could never make Angelina mad at her. She would probably have been her soulmate in another life. Angelina walked up to the counter where a lady with a hair net, a blue apron and white clothes was standing. She smiled at Angelina and put her hands on the countertop. "What can I get for you sweetie?" "I'll have the baguette with cheese and ham, heated if it's okay. Today's ceasar salad and a bottle of-" "Me. A bottle of moi." Angelina was interrupted by Sir Douche himself, Ezio. As usual, he was being annoying and trying to make Angelina mad. He really loved the way she looked when she was mad at him. "A bottle of iced tea, please." "Coming right up young lady!" Angelina turned to Ezio slowly, giving him a deadly glare. He had his hands crossed in front of his chest, he was already smirking at her, trying to contain his laughter. "Are you serious? Why do you have to make everything so awkward?!" He scoffed at her comment. "Awkward? It's called humor baby, look it up." "I think you and I have a very different perspective of what is funny and not Ezio. VERY different." He chuckled at her. She was an annoying brat, but her smart and snarky comments were always funny to him. Besides, she was too cute when she got mad at him. The madder she got, the sweeter she looked. "Was there something you wanted? Or are you just here to annoy me like always?" Angelina crossed her arms while looking at him. He looked her up and down while biting his lower lip. He stared back at her, she was fuming. He LOVED it. "Just wanted to keep you company for a while, that fat ass of yours looked a little lonely over here. See? I can be a little considerate." "Oh my god, grow up Ezio. You're lucky my pepper spray is in my purse or I would have sprayed you down right now." Ezio burst out laughing, she was so adorable. He grabbed her chin with his thumb and stared into her eyes. "We both know you would never spray down your crush." She slapped his hand away. "You are NOT my crush, not anymore!" The lady came back with Angelina's food and drink, she handed them to her with a genuine smile and Angelina grabbed them gently from her hands. She thanked her and gave her focus back to Ezio. "If you think I still like you after what you did, you most definitely are delusional!" "Doll, the only delusional one here is you when you really thought confessing to me on your birthday would give you a better shot at not being rejected." Angelina had to breathe, the question suddenly popped back into her head. Why does he hate me? This was the perfect moment to ask him up front and directly. "Can I ask you a question?" "Yes, Angelina. You may touch me in the boys' lockerroom while I'm over you and making sweet lov-" "NOT that!" He smirked at her. He loved teasing her. "Well then, what is it that you want to ask me?" Angelina took a deep breath. This was it, this was the moment the truth finally would come out. "Why do you hate me?" Ezio stopped smiling. Did she think that he hated her? He took a slight deep breath, then smirked at her again. If she thought he hated her, she must care. Ezio was definitely going to screw with her a little. "Hate is a strong word. I would use the term heavily annoyed. And I am HEAVILY annoyed by you because of how obnoxious you are and you won't let me smash." Angelina froze completely. THIS was it? THIS is the answer she was waiting to hear all day? "I... I'm just gonna go now." "What? You asked." "I know. I was just not expecting that this was the answer I waited for all day." Ezio stopped her from saying anything else, he had a huge grin on his face. "So you've been thinking about me all day?" Angelina's face turned red, she was not aware of what she had just said. He was grinning at her, he loved every moment of this, she could tell. "Ugh I don't have time for this, I'm just gonna go now. Thank you for nothing." "No problem baby, remember to think about me before you fall asleep tonight!" "Go to hell!" Angelina walked to her table, leaving Ezio alone at the counter, smirking and chuckling in her direction. Lola was sitting like a puppy at the table, she had seen everything and was eager to get the details. As Angelina sat down, Lola looked at her and smiled. She could no longer contain herself. "Soooo..." "Hm?" "What happened between you and Ezio back there?" Angelina took a deep breath. "I asked him why he hates me." Lola's smile faded in an instant, she looked at Angelina and she could tell the answer was less than satisfactory, "Ok... What was his reason for hating you then?" "I am apparently obnoxious and he hates me because I won't let him smash." Angelina told Lola with a blank expression, she could tell Lola wanted to laugh. His reasoning was idiotic, to say the least. "Wow... I mean... Yea... You maybe want to come over to mine and talk about it?" Angelina gave her friend a small smile and looked down at her food. "Sorry, not today. I have some homework to catch up on." Lie. "I would love to come over some other time though!" Lola nodded in agreement. "Yea sure, anything for you babes!" They smiled at each other. Angelina's smile quickly faded though. She didn't want to lie to her best friend anymore, but was it worth telling her just to risk her life? She could never find out what she was. That was the number one priority. She wanted to transform again when she came home, to release the tension and stress she had been holding inside all day. She was for once excited to transform. CHAPTER END
