~(Girl!Ouma x Girl!Saihara) Am I Pretty Enough?~

4400 Words
Ouma and Saihara were neighbors since they were kids. This also meant Ouma was Saihara's first-ever friend. A long time ago... Saihara was playing with her toys in the backyard. She loved being outdoors during these warm summer days and playing with fluffy toy pink bunny was her favorite thing to do. The only sad thing about this was she didn't have a playmate. Her mother was always very protective of her and didn't want her playing outside in fear of losing sight of her. So Saihara could only play outside in the backyard, where she was safe. Suddenly she heard a sweet humming coming from over the fence. Saihara slowly walked up to the hole in the fence. A small purple-haired girl was playing with a black, slightly worn out kitty toy. Her purple hair was neatly made into a ponytail with a checkered bow. She also had a white dress and a big smile on her pale-skinned face. Her purple eyes shined like two bright amethysts, full of joy. "Hello...?" Saihara asked carefully. She was slightly afraid of outside after all the warnings her mother gave her. The young girl quickly turned towards her. When she noticed Saihara, she smiled lightly and came up to the hole in the fence "Who are you?" she asked curiously. "I-I'm S-Saihara..." Saihara said shaking. Her social anxiety was going through the roof right now. The girl giggled cutely "Nishishi~ Is little Saihara-chan here afraid of me~?" she said to which Saihara shook her head. "N-No! I'm not afraid..." she said fiddling with her thumbs. The girl then puffed out her cheek "Well you should be! You're standing in front of The Dark Supreme Leader, Ouma!" she said pointing in the sky before grabbing her kitty toy "And her entrusted companion kitten!" Saihara laughed slightly and grabbed her bunny "Well, Ouma it's just me here and my fluffy bunny." Ouma smiled. "Well, Saihara-chan wanna play together?" Saihara blushed, she had never played with anyone besides her parents "Sure!" And from that day on Ouma and Saihara were friends. They kept talking and playing through the hole in the fence. Eventually, both moms realized what Ouma and Saihara were doing and Saihara's mom was actually happy. She was having doubts that if she sheltered Saihara too much it would have an effect on her emotional state. So the moms set up playdates and let girls do anything they wish together. Soon the girls were best friends forever. They supported each other through everything. And even when Highschool began, they promised to never stop being friends. But not all promises have to be kept. When Ouma and Saihara went to school something... changed. High school wasn't about friendship bracelets and checkers on a summer afternoon. It was social groups and what reputation had as a person. Ouma has earned herself a reputation of a mean little brat and Saihara got the reputation of that quiet kid that hangs out with the brat. Ouma and Saihara stayed friends and talked to each other for a while, but then came... The Most Popular Girls in Highschool. The popular girls were like your stereotypical pretty girls you'd see in school. The prettiest leader who's also mean, the smart one who has doubts and the third one who is the protagonist of the story. In this school, those two girls were Tsumugi Shirogane, the nicer one that is only mean under the influence of 'The Queen'. And who was "The Queen"? Junko Enoshima. Junko Enoshima was probably the meanest, prettiest most stupid girl in school. Banging every boy she likes, showing off like there's no tomorrow, gossiping and posting pics on i********: and most importantly... Ruining the lives of others.  Ouma and Saihara have always lived in one bubble of friendship and safety. They've never experienced school drama. So when the idea of Junko came into their lives, it was like a bombshell.  Today Ouma and Saihara were sitting on the bench talking together. They were telling each other jokes and talking, but all of a sudden Tsumugi, Enoshima's sidekick came over with a smile. "Hey, Shuichi! Junko and I would like to talk to you privately." she said looking over at Ouma with a look of disgust "I'm sure your little friend won't mind if I borrow you for a moment, right?" she said. Shuichi looked at Ouma before looking back at Tsumugi "Okay, I gue-" "Great!" Tsumugi said immediately dragged Shuichi away from the bench and inside the school. Junko was waiting there just by the small vending machine in the hallway. "Tsumugi, how f*****g slow are you? I thought I was waiting for an eternity! Anyways at least you've done a good job bringing her here." she snarled at Tsumugi making Tsumugi cower. Shuichi stood there, slightly confused. What did the most popular girl in school want from her? "Anyways Shuichi, we called you in because we have an offer you can't refuse." Junko said with a fake smile "As you know, Tsumugi and I are the prettiest, perfect girls in school, however, we've been looking at you from afar and I think you'd fit right in with us" Junko said. "Junko and I think that with a touch of make-up and some fashion, we can make you the most popular girl at school. Boys will bow to your feet, you'll be saved from the school bullies and you'd be the talk of the whole school" Tsumugi continued with Junko adding quickly "And you'd be friends with me, the diva of the school, Junko Enoshima. You should feel special. This isn't your everyday offer". Saihara thought for a moment. Everything Junko said sounded nice, but what about Ouma. Her thought process was interrupted by Tsumugi speaking "But there's a catch to all of this" she said with a sigh "You'll have to stop talking to Ouma." Saihara's eyes widened. Stop talking to her best friend...? "We can't have that little ugly s**t following us. It would lower our f*****g reputation." Junko explained loudly. "Sorry, but I have to refuse. Ouma's my best friend and I am not going to abandon her for popularity" Shuichi said. She was about to walk away but Junko grabbed her by the hand. She glared at Shuichi, her deadly stare sending shivers down Shuichi's spine. Junko was quite intimidating up close. "I don't take too kindly to those who argue with me." she said angrily, her grip on Shuichi's arm tightening "If you don't join us, we will make sure to give your little friend a bullying session of the century. " Junko said making Shuichi shiver. Junko grinned "Last year we had a girl named Mikan here...Wanna know what happened to her once she reported us to the teacher and got us suspended for three weeks?" Shuichi nodded. "Let's just say things got a bit dangerous... hairspray and firelighter type of dangerous. " she chuckled. Tsumugi chuckled devilishly "And in case you don't know, we're pretty good actors and everyone's afraid of us anyway. So nobody will believe you.". Shuichi gulped. She couldn't let her bully Ouma. Ouma was always fragile. Before Shuichi met her, she didn't have many friends and was always bullied for her cheap toys and outfits. Despite always wearing a smile, every insult that's been thrown at her hurt her a lot, with her bottling self-loathing and frustration inside with only Shuichi to turn to. But what was she supposed to do? If Junko bullies Ouma, Ouma might get hurt, but if she agrees to Junko 's request, she'll have to leave Ouma for good, hurting her. This was a no-win situation.  It was hard. Shuichi sighed "I-I need to think about it..." she said shakily. Junko let go off Shuichi's hand hesitantly, annoyed "And you better not make me wait long. I don't have much patience". Shuichi walked back to the bench, slightly shaken. Ouma was still there waiting for Shuichi. She smiled when she noticed her. "So, what did Tsumugi want from you?" Ouma asked curiously with her eyes sparkling. "Umm...Nothing! She wanted nothing!" Shuichi said nervously. Ouma's eyes filled with annoyance "Shuichi y'know I hate liars. So now what did Tsumugi wa-" "SHE WANTED NOTHING, OKAY?!" Shuichi screamed at Ouma. Ouma's eyes went from curiosity to slight fear. Shuichi quickly realized this and calmed herself down "I'm sorry Ouma... Can we just talk about something else and forget this?" she asked nervously. "Oh...O-Okay..." Ouma said quietly, resignation in her voice. They talked about games and anime for the rest of the day, ignoring the thing that just happened. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ After school, Shuichi went up to her room and lied down, clutching her head. What was she supposed to do now? She can't let Junko hurt Ouma, but she also can't leave her best friend. Shuichi groaned in frustration. How were you supposed to act in this situation? Why couldn't they just go back to when times were simple? No girl drama, no fear. Just games and fun night and day. Just the two off them. After two hours of thinking, Shuichi made her decision. She grabbed her phone and went on f*******: to message the person she despised. "Hi, it's Shuichi. Just wanna let you know I made my decision."  "Oh about f*****g time! Now then, do we have a deal?" Shuichi's fingers shook as she typed in the response. ... "...Yes..." ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The next day, Shuichi quickly sneaked his way past Ouma's house. She couldn't confront her friend about the thing she agreed to do. She didn't have the courage to say it. In her mind, she thought about how much of a coward she really was.  She ran to school and quickly found Junko. "Oh, well I see that our new friend's here!" Junko said in a happy voice. "H-Hi..." Shuichi stuttered out. The nervousness never left her. How could she be so weak? "Ugh...It looks like you forgot to put on some make-up sweetie... You got eyebags and everything" Junko said with slight disgust in her voice. "I got a make-up kit in my bag. I'll fix you right!" Tsumugi said with enthusiasm and dragged Shuichi to the school bathroom.  Shuichi didn't even have the time to protest as Tsumugi quickly began applying makeup onto her face. Once she was done Shuichi couldn't believe what she did. It wasn't just a bit of concealer she applied. Light pink blushes, a bit of blue eyeshadow, lipgloss, eyeliner, and mascara. Shuichi had to admit, she was quite fast at applying makeup. He hated to think she was actually wearing makeup when she knew she really didn't need to paint her face that much to be beautiful. "So what, do you think, hun? Like your new self?" Tsumugi asked happily. "Y-Yes..." Shuichi said looking down at the floor. Junko growled "Jeez, I'm getting tired of your pissing stutter! Unless you stop it with that, our deal is off!" she said annoyed making Shuichi's eyes widen. "Okay," she said reluctantly, making Junko smirk.  "Good girl. Now let's get out of the bathroom and hang out by the outside. I need a smoke." They all made their way outside. Junko immediately pulled out a cigarette. She pulled out a pink lighter and lit it. "So Shuichi let's tal-" "Hey, Shuichi!" Shuichi flinched. He knew that voice. It was Ouma. She walked over with a happy smile, waving. "Hi, Shuichi! What are you doing with Junko here? And why are you wearing makeup, I thought you hated that..." she asked confused. Shuichi wanted to say something, but Junko pushed her out of the way and got in front of Ouma. "Let me deal with this Shuichi or else we'll be here all day with that stutter of yours." she snarled before looking over at Ouma "Look you little vermin, Shuichi has decided that she doesn't want to hang out with you anymore. She said she likes us and doesn't want to hang out with an ugly poor fool like you." she said venom in her voice before blowing the smoke from her cigarette in Ouma's face. Ouma looked over at Shuichi, confusion, and betrayal in her eyes. "Shuichi, is that true? Please tell me with they're lying..." Ouma whispered softly, hope dwindling from her eyes. Shuichi's hand tightened I'm sorry... "I-It's true...I'm with them now. " Shuichi choked out, looking down at the floor. She felt her guilt eating her alive. She was ready to cry, but she had to stay strong, she had to continue this act. Ouma's voice was now shaky "N-No, you're lying...they're m-making you say this right?" Ouma gave a shaky smile. But Shuichi shook her head "No, everything they say...it's... it's true." She had to continue this. Hope was disappearing from Ouma's eyes "Please, you don't have to do this..." Ouma reached out her hand, but... Saihara slapped it away with a growl. I'm sorry. "I don't like you! I only pitied you! I don't want to be friends with someone like you!" Shuichi screamed shakily. Junko smirked. Ouma's eyes filled up with fear before her expression changed into a smile. It was a fake smile, so fake Saihara knew Ouma was on a verge of a breakdown. "O-Of course...it's high school now, e-everything changes for the better..." Ouma chuckled, tears in her eyes. "I-I'm gonna go now.. this is the worst day of my f*****g life. Hope you're happy with your new friends, Saihara-chan," she said before running away crying. I'M SORRY! Shuichi wanted to scream, she wanted to run after Ouma but before she did anything, Junko dragged Shuichi away "C' mon, let's go. I heard that if you stand around her long enough you can get rabies." Junko said grossed out. Shuichi sighed.  What has she done?  ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~   Four weeks passed. Shuichi continued to spend time with Junko. She continued to apply makeup and being the new member of the popular girls. But no matter how much time she spent with them and how much compliments she received from others. All she thought about was Ouma. She watched her from afar. For the first three weeks, Ouma showed up at school but by the time the fourth week rolled around, she stopped coming. Shuichi knew that Ouma was at home, she could sometimes see Ouma in her room. And throughout the three weeks, Shuichi began to feel emptiness grow inside her. Something broke inside and died and Shuichi didn't know what it was, that made her feel absolutely sick to her every time she looked in the mirror. No, she knew what it was. It was because she didn't see her reflection anymore. She saw a cracked version of the girl she used to be. It was another day of emptiness. Nothing has changed. Shuichi basically fell on her bed as soon as she entered her room. She noticed she's been sleeping a lot more than usual. She opened her eyes to a dream. She was still lying in her bed, but she couldn't move, the only thing she could do is look around the room. The room around her was illuminating blue. Everything just looked so...unreal and bland. Just dead. Shuichi looked around. She suddenly noticed one thing that wasn't blue. It was a picture of her and Ouma as kids smiling. It was white and bright and illuminated. Shuichi swore she could hear almost soft giggles from it. But then he saw a small c***k. The glass on the frame had a small hole in it. Suddenly. CRACK! The c***k was getting bigger. Small hammering was heard with each new split on the glass until. CRACK! The glass broke, the soft giggles turned to a bloodcurdling scream. The entire frame was engulfed by blue. Shuichi then noticed a black liquid falling out of the frame. It soon formed into a small stream that made its way to the bed frame. That liquid soon formed into a person. It was Ouma. Her eyes oozed with black goo, making waterfalls of black tears streaming down her cheeks.  "You were the only person that cared about me... you were my only friend! And you betrayed me! YOU LAUGHED WITH THEM BEHIND MY BACK DIDN'T YOU!? " Ouma basically sobbed, her cries echoing around the room. Saihara wanted to say sorry but Ouma cut her off "No matter how much makeup I put on, no matter how much I try to be pretty... I'll always be an ugly, disgusting monster! And nobody could ever like me! Ever!" At this point, Ouma was shouting. "ARE YOU PROUD OF YOURSELF SHUICHI?! YOU'VE DESTROYED ME I HATE YOU! Shuichi woke up with a scream. It was...just a nightmare. She looked outside her window, it was morning. The light was shining through and birds were singing. She thought back to her dream I hate you I hate you                                       I hate you                                                                                                        I hate you                                                    I HATE YOU! Shuichi snapped. She couldn't do this anymore. She couldn't torture herself and Ouma like this. She wanted to protect Ouma, but all she ended up doing is hurting her even more than she imagined. She then heard her phone buzz. It was Junko. She just sent a text. TheDivaofDespair: Hey Shuichi! Take a load of this! Your little friend Ouma just told me that her mom gave her some money and that she decided to 'give it to her new friends for making Shuichi happy' and that we should 'swing by her place to get it'. Ain't that f*****g amazing?! Wait for us and we'll pick the money up with ya, kay hun? Shuichi looked confused. Ouma wanted to give her cash to Junko and Tsumugi for making her happy? What...? This had to be some trick. Ouma wouldn't just give her cash away, especially to someone so despicable like Junko ...Nevertheless, Shuichi might just kill two birds with one stone by breaking the deal with Junko and begging Ouma for forgiveness. So she waited. About fifteen minutes later, Junko arrived with Tsumugi in her pink car. "Yaha! Sweet money, here I come!" Junko said looking over at Ouma's house. Shuichi sighed "Junko we have to ta-" she was quickly interrupted by Junko"Yeah, yeah, yeah we'll talk Shuichi, but for now...I'M GONNA GET MY SWEET MONEY!" Junko said as she marched up to the doorstep and knocked, or more appropriately, banged on the door. "It's open~!" Ouma said in a cheery voice not even bothering to come to the door. Junko opened the door and quickly walked inside. "I'm in my room!" Ouma said with a giggle, still not showing her face. Being the only one who knew their way around Ouma's house, Shuichi led the way upstairs. Once she was in front of the door room, she froze. Ouma's door always had a small window showing what was happening inside. And the sight inside paralyzed her. Ouma stood on a stool, a noose on her neck smiling. She wore makeup, but the teardrops streaming down her cheeks smudged it until it was just a glittery mess of blackish eyeliner and eyeshadow goop. On the floor, there were bottles of diet pills, make-up kits and a couple of bullying notes, written in Junko's handwriting. Ouma chuckled. "Guess I just wasn't 'pretty enough' to be around you, huh Shuichi? " Shuichi stood there still from shock. No...this wasn't happening...right? "But, don't worry...I-I understand! You just needed some better, new friends... I just wasn't up to standard anymore...A-Anyway I better wrap this up..." Ouma took a deep breath and raised her foot, ready to kick the stool. It was then Shuichi started to react. She desperately tried to open the door, but it was locked from the inside.  "This is a sight to remember you motherfuckers. " Ouma said. "OUMA WAI-! BAM! The chair fell with a thud. Shuichi began panicking. "WE HAVE TO PICKLOCK IN! TSUMUGI! I NEED A HAIRPIN!" Shuichi yelled out. Tsumugi quickly gave her one of the hairpins she carried with her, clearly distressed. Shuichi grabbed the pins and pick locked the best she can. Tears welled up in her eyes. Ouma's not dying, no, not today, not ever! She burst in the room and quickly got Ouma down. "Oh, please don't be dead, please don't be dead..." Shuichi said as he held her friend in her arms. She took out her phone and called the ambulance. Tsumugi looked shaken but Junko...Junko was looking around the room disinterested.  Once Shuichi finished the call, Junko said with disappointment. "Aww man! The little cretin lied! Guess no cash stash for lady Junko...puhuhu" she said sadly making Shuichi's eyes widen. What did that b***h say? Shuichi slowly turned around "What...?" she said infuriated. "Well, we came, there was no stash, I think it's our cue to leave this gross place" Miu said turning around on her heel and heading to the door "C' mon gang, let's leave." Shuichi snapped. Rage filled her mind. "ARE YOU f*****g SERIOUS RIGHT NOW?! IS MONEY ALL YOU CARE ABOUT?! HOW DARE YOU!" Shuichi yelled making Junko's face go blank. "Did I just hear a shout? You're not allowed to talk to me like that..." she said in a warning tone, but Shuichi honestly didn't give a crap anymore. "OUMA NEVER DID ANYTHING TO HURT YOU! SHE ALMOST DIED AND YOU DON'T EVEN SEEM TO CARE YOU FILTHY COW!" Shuichi continued. "Excuse me but don't even try to put the blame on me, you're a part of this too." Junko said almost completely unaffected "Besides it's not like anyone would miss her. They all pushed her out of their memory just like Mikan and turned their attention onto me. Conclusion? Everyone loves me, nobody loves her." she snarled.  Shuichi chuckled "Oh yeah! YOU KNOW that's just total BS! They're scared of you! They only compliment you so that they can save their own ass from your wrath later!" Shuichi screamed, at her. "And all those boys following you? They only follow you because they know that if they get on your good side, you might bang them, you disgusting slut!" Shuichi yelled, not even thinking about what she was saying. Tsumugi looked like she didn't want to be in this situation "Guys... I think it's time to stop..." she said nervously but Junko continued to insult "Shuichi, you have to admit, she was that one girl that was enormously improved by death. Also, if you continue to speak to me like that, we might have to end our deal." she said in a warning tone "I honestly don't care about the deal anymore. You turned me into a monster. And I'll hate myself for the rest of my life ever becoming someone so vile and sickening as you." Shuichi said. Junko took a deep breath "You'll regret ever messing with me Shuichi. I'll make sure to make your life a living nightmare with only despair heading your way. Trust me." she said before she and Tsumugi walked out. Tsumugi took a last look back, uncertainty on her face. Shuichi could tell she had second thoughts about this, but she was too far in. She closed the door and walked out. Soon the ambulance arrived. They took Ouma and Shuichi came with them. Shuichi didn't want to leave Ouma. Not anymore. She sat on the cold, blue hospital seat, while Ouma laid unconscious in the hospital bed. It's been over three hours since Ouma was brought in the hospital and Shuichi didn't want to leave her for a second. The nurse told her that Ouma would be okay and it was good she brought her when she did. Tears filled Shuichi's eyes "I'm sorry I ever left you. I-I didn't want to hurt you, I just wanted you to be safe...but instead, I f****d up big time..." she said crying. "I'm s-so sorry Ouma...I promise to never ever abandon you again.". Shuichi put her head in her hands. Junko was truly the queen of despair. And the worst part was, Shuichi knew it was all her fault. If she was just honest with Ouma, maybe this would've never happened. It was her fault. Herfaultherfaultherfaultherfaultherfaultherfault "Shuichi...?" Shuichi opened her eyes to see Ouma look at her with tired yet shocked eyes. "Shuichi...what are you doing he-!" "I'M SORRY!" Shuichi yelled, basically breaking into sobs, quickly wrapping her hands around Ouma and crying into her chest. Ouma hesitantly hugged back, a slight look of puzzlement. "Shuichi, why are you here? I thought you didn't want to be around me anymore..." Ouma said weakly, tears filling her eyes. "I-I'm sorry, I'm so sorry! I-I'm sor-" Shuichi was crying hysterically. "Hey, shhh... it's okay...you shouldn't cry over someone like m-!" Ouma was interrupted by Shuichi "NO! I-IT'S MY FAULT YOU'RE LYING HERE IN THE HOSPITAL! I...I WANTED TO PROTECT YOU FROM JUNKO BY DOING WHATEVER SHE TOLD ME TO DO, but......BUT I ENDED UP ALMOST KILLING YOU INSTEAD!" Shuichi shouted, completely despaired. "Shuichi, you should've told me...I thought that you hated me" Ouma said, trying to calm Shuichi down, while she cried in his arms. "I-I know... I was just scared and stressed. I-I thought that'd if she saw me hanging out with you, she'd try to hurt you..." Shuichi sniffled "She threatened me and said that if I don't agree to her proposal, she'd bully you every time she had the chance"Ouma smiled lightly, tears pouring down her eyes "Hey, it's okay...we don't have to worry about them anymore...we got each other. And as long as you're by my side, nothing matters to me anymore. You make me happy and I'd hate to lose you again." Shuichi hugged her tighter. As long as they'll be there for each other, they'll recover. Because with them together Even Junko can't bring them down. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~     It's been five weeks (Sorry for so many time skips XD) since Ouma went out of the hospital. Shuichi and her were, as to be expected, bullied by Junko, but after getting the evidence of bullying from Junko, they managed to convince the teachers that Junko has been threatening them. They also managed to make some new friends, such as Kiibo and Kaede who didn't let Junko fool them so easily. Everything was finally looking good for the two best friends. And as long as they're together, They'll be nothing for them to fear.
