Ouma stared at a photo of Saihara on his phone.
Ouma was supposed to perform a concert with his band DICE in just a few hours. They were quite famous, reaching the fan base of Ibuki's new band and Sayaka's pop band and having a couple albums and merch. All friends said they're gonna be there since Ouma gave them exclusive tickets and they had nothing else to do. But one person said that couldn't be there for him.
And that person was Shuichi.
Shuichi and Ouma had a weird relationship with each other. Ouma always thought he was a jerk for his lies and pranks. He thought that's why people close to him disliked him, sometimes even hated him. And because of that, he hated himself. He hated himself for being so paranoid, and unable to open up and trust his friends. But Shuichi for some reason found all he did... endearing? Ouma didn't understand it at all.
Despite this, being with the detective was comforting and he liked it more than anything else.
It was important to Ouma that Shuichi would come today because he planned on playing a special song he wrote about their relationship with each other. It took him a while to make himself confident enough to sing it. He knew that it wasn't the type of songs he often did. Songs that had meanings with the truth about his life and not lies. It was so nice to let these things out once in a while.
But he couldn't come, because of some stupid work emergency. He apologized, way more than once. Ouma was, of course, sad that Shuichi wouldn't be here to hear the song he wrote, but he decided he should sing it tonight anyway.
He had thought about this decision, and he ignored the anxiety in his heart telling him not to go through with it.
Suddenly a girl opened the door to Ouma's room. She had round earrings, short hair and a big smile on her face. It was Miyoki, one of his fellow band members.
"You alright hun? I know how hard it was for you was to make the decision to sing about your deep emotions to others..." Miyoki said, walking up to Ouma and hugging him from the back. Considering DICE grew up in one house, Miyoki cared about Kokichi and he cared back. "It's alright Miyoki. I can do it. I rehearsed." Ouma said quietly. Miyoki grinned "I know you are nervous but I'm sure it's gonna be okay! Your fans, your friends, us... We love you." Miyoki said before pulling away.
"Well, I gotta get ready! Ever since we started the band we've been quite fashionable on stage!" Miyoki said. It's true. The band's theme was to look like insane clowns. And since Ouma's family had no problem with playing with the costume chest in daycare, they certainly didn't have a problem now.
It was almost time. Tonight was supposed to be a big night. The concert tickets have all been sold out and the stage was bigger than Ouma could ever imagine. He knew that there would be tons of people watching him. Ouma was apprehensive, but he knew as soon as his hands touched the microphone, he'd feel his worries dissolve into nothing.
He heard a knock on the door of his backstage room. "Kokichi! We're ready when you are!" rang a familiar voice. Ouma took a couple of deep breaths, before walking out of the room. He watched as the stage lit up in lots of light flashing colours, before the reveal of his group. The band members had white straitjackets like outfits with checkered scarfs. Ouma had a black outfit resembling a straitjacket with colourful buttons on it. He had a white cape and a white hat. It was basically a colour-swap version of the outfit his other band members wore. He had a clown mask on since it was a signature part of the band. Once on stage, he grabbed his mask, took it off and threw it off stage. He looked around the crowd of people.
"Hello everybody!" He said in a mischievous, cute voice. He heard the hundreds of fangirls shout at the sound of his voice. He could see his group of friends. They were all cheering for him. Rantaro, Kaede, Kaito and Maki. The performance is beginning now. "Are you ready?" he asked, adding an almost wicked tone to it to once again hear a wave of approval. Shiny purple neon lights turned on, showing his figure in full glory.
"Let the show begin!"

Ouma sang through different songs they had in store. Sarcasm, Castle, Emperor's New Clothing, Everybody Wants To Rule The World were to name a few. He was getting close to the grand finale of the concert when he noticed a familiar silhouette close to his friends that wasn't there before. It was Shuichi.
Wait.
SHUICHI?!
"So you made it after all... and just in the right time" Ouma smiled to himself as he stared at Saihara. His hands reached for the microphone.
He stopped briefly "Before I sing our grand finale for tonight, I just wanted to say I wrote this song for a special person in my life. He was always so nice to me and I didn't understand why. I never told him about my feelings, because I was too insecure but hopefully he'll know now." he blushed, a pink light hue painting itself on his cheeks. "So this one is for Shuichi Saihara. " he said closing his eyes as if it gave him more confidence to say it. He looked back at the band as if giving them the signal to play.
The band started to play a quiet tune. It wasn't like any other. Ouma started singing in a soothing voice, pouring all his true emotions into it, unlike all other songs he had played this night.
If I could begin to be
Half of what you think of me,
I could do about anything,
I could even learn how to love.
When I see the way you act,
Wondering when I'm coming back,
I could do about anything,
I could even learn how to love like you.
Love, like you...
I always thought I might be bad,
Now I'm sure that it's true
'cause I think you're so good
And I'm nothing like you.
Look at you go,
I just adore you,
I wish that I knew
What makes you think I'm so special
Ouma paused, looking down and thinking about why Saihara found him to be so interesting, with all annoying behaviour Ouma showed him.
If I could begin to do
Something that does right by you,
I would do about anything,
I would even learn how to love.
When I see the way you look.
Shaken by how long it took,
I could do about anything,
I could even learn how to love like you.
Love like you...
Love me like you.
He sang the few last verses. He thought about how Shuichi made him feel as if he mattered to others. He felt his soul relax when the song was over and his eyes open. He rose his head, as the people responsible for the effects backstage, launched purple sparks into the air and the stage descend into darkness. Ouma managed to catch a glimpse of Shuichi's cute blushing face before the darkness took over. Now came the hard part.
The confrontation.
Ouma had given his exclusive tickets, which meant they had access to go backstage to see the band members. When Shuichi comes, what will happen? He'll have to find out.
As he walked into his backstage room, he took deep breaths. Both because of exhausted from tonight and because he'll have to confront his crush about a love song. It wasn't long before the door burst open, his friends running inside.
"What a great night! You've been great like always!" Rantaro said, ruffling Ouma's hair. Ouma chuckled. "Your band members also did a good job! But I think there's only one person you want to talk to right now." Kaede smiled pointing behind her. Shuichi stood there, a slight blush on his face.
"Adorable..." Ouma thought as he also blushed. Kaede giggled "We'll leave you lovebirds alone~" she said closing the door, leaving Shuichi and Ouma alone.
"So..." Ouma said quietly, his blush intensifying. "So I'm assuming you're saying that you love me. " Saihara said to which Ouma lightly nodded "Yeah, that's why I wrote you a song you idiot...".
"Ouma, why did you never tell me feelings for me?" Shuichi smiled to which Ouma gave him a confused look "Ouma you deserve love, even if you lie. I took the time to know you and I know how great of a person you are. You shouldn't hate yourself because of lies, because you just help it. You're just a person with problems. Problems like the rest of us. And you know what?" Saihara said smiling.
"I love you too. And I'll do whatever it takes to make you feel loved. " he said kissing Ouma quickly on the lips, which caused Ouma to blush even harder and his heartbeat to go haywire.
Ouma teared up "I'm so happy!" he called, hugging Shuichi tightly. Shuichi grinned and ruffled the purple boy's hair.
"Oh! Ouma can you promise me something?" Shuichi asked looking down at Ouma "Can you promise you'll learn to love yourself more and stop hating yourself?"
"I promise."
