Xaviers P.O.V The silence stretched between us a few long seconds, until it settled over me in uncomfortable weight. A part of me wished that would I just tell her to leave-to slam the door in her face and have it out of the way. But I hovered for a reason I couldn't exactly explain. Maybe it was the unremitting curiosity or some feeling that if I didn't let her in, I'd miss something-something indefinable, there was some ulterior motive to this visit. I nodded slightly, my loosest gesture. "You can come in," I said-the words a concession, a small surrender. It was heavy in my voice, and I knew she could hear it.
