She sat back in her chair, looking so smug as her words hung in the air, like a taunt. "I want to tell you some things you don't know about Adriana," she started off in a voice that was as bitter as gall. "If you knew the truth about her, you wouldn't even dare go close to her, let alone making her your girlfriend."
I worked hard not to show a thing on my face, but inside she was stirring something with her words. What exactly was she insinuating? And why could she be so certain that she was going to change my mind? The fact that she said Adriana was my girlfriend told me just how little she knew.
