Chapter 4: A Knight’s oath

After Theodore sent Tiara for a whole-body checkup and finding that there’s no major issues regarding her body, he sent her to his room. Tiara now is obediently sitting on Theodore’s bed while he is busy opening Tiara’s modified nutrient solution.

“Take this first, this is modified according to what your body needs right now”

Tiara held the bottle that had blue liquid inside, she remembered the eyes of her father and several brothers while looking at it. She missed them but never mind, they are on their way to pick her up so no worries. She’s still curious how nutrient solutions taste; she doesn’t know how long she hasn’t used her tongue to taste so it’s like the first time all over again. She put the bottle in her mouth with a plan to savor the taste but when the liquid hit her mouth, she felt that her mouth was burning so she spit out the nutrient solution and looked at the man who fed her, is he trying to poison her?

“What happened?” Theodore asked worriedly as he looked at the girl’s eyes as if blaming him.

Tiara still couldn’t speak, so she just held the bottle higher to show it to him. She hadn’t tasted a nutrient solution before, but she still believes that it didn’t taste as bad as this. She thinks that she drank vinegar and red pepper just now.

Theodore took the bottle to taste it. His worried expression turned cold when he tasted the nutrient solution.

“Wait for a little, ok? I will ask someone to prepare another bottle for you, sorry about that. I will make sure to sort everything out”, Theodore said. Then he probably sent a message using his lightbrain because, after about five minutes, another bottle was sent to the room. This time Theodore tasted it before giving it to her. When he made sure that she drank everything in the bottle, he waited for about a minute until he saw that she started being sleepy, so he tucked her into bed and left after he was sure that she was already sleeping.

“Kai, make sure to have a detailed report about that incident within two hours” After giving orders, Theodore went to his office and waited for the results.

As ordered, the culprit along with the evidence are now in front of Theodore. Everyone in his office didn’t dare to move. Actually, if they can, they will also try not to breathe until this great demon’s irritability subsides. They really wanted to open the brain of this despicable culprit to see what’s running on her head for tampering with that nutrient solution. Is her life too long and she wants to cut it short? If she really does think like that, why didn’t she just kill herself? Why do they need to suffer together with her? They now wish to be Luke, being second in command he needs to stay in the command room to make sure everything is in order.

“Now tell me, do you hate your life?” Theodore asked to the person kneeling, while increasing the overwhelming pressure in the room, even Kai, Noah and Wyatt wanted to kneel down because of that, but they are soldiers trained together by this mad man, if they really did kneel down because of this pressure, they will need to face a couple of hell week being trained all over again.

“I just forgot to put the taste enhancer; I didn’t mean it-”

“You forgot? Such a low-level mistake can still be heard in my army? Well, for a person who stole her sister’s qualifications, it’s really an acceptable mistake, but that kind of mistake is not allowed in my army”

“I-I don’t know what you are saying commander, I don’t even have a sister”

“Lian Adams, daughter of Enrique Adams a man who can be said to be a taint of the whole Adams family with an unknown number of children but the most promising didn’t came from his 4 legitimate children but from his illegitimate ones, Taylor Dane, a genius pharmacist, at the year 3013 her qualifications were abolished and her location? “I drank a mental power enhancer”

“Really? Mental power enhancer can only enhance your mental power at 10% max, but you, you jumped directly to 2 levels so it means you have extreme luck or the mental power enhancer that you used includes a core of a grade S mental power user. Our investigations are almost complete, under the interstellar law, as your commander I can immediately give you your punishment but you being a side branch of the Adams family I will give them some face and let you be sentenced under the interstellar royal court”

The face of the woman turned grim after hearing what Theodore had said “No- Your highness Theodore, I did that for us, you see if I’m powerful enough we can rule this galaxy better and what’s the problem with what I did to that girl? I just made her know her place and it’s not here. I have loved you since I was ten. I’ve been loving you for more than 30 years now so what are her qualifications to be carried by you? Cough--” the woman suddenly coughed a mouthful of blood

“I don’t want to hear what she’s going to say next, take her away and lock her up. I will give her as a gift to the Adams family”

The three people who stood as witnesses of this short trial obeyed their commander, but they were a little clean freak so they asked the soldiers waiting outside to do the task. After eating their commander’s melon, they still wanted to eat more by asking how was the girl that he brought to the spaceship but they were just given a cold glance and 3 days of gravity room punishment.

Tiara woke up after having enough rest. The nutrient solution that she drank earlier can last up to 14 hours so she’s not hungry. She saw some scattered lights around while trying to remember where she is now. Right, she was rescued and is now in a warship.

She tried stretching her arms and feet while sitting on the bed and as she expected, she didn’t feel tired like she used to before. Then slowly, she tried to step her feet on the ground, she almost cried when she felt the ground after a long time. She slowly walked to the bathroom to wash up.

After taking care of herself, she sat back on the bed and started fiddling on her lightbrain. Although Tiara wanted to call her family now using her lightbrain she can’t, because her lightbrain was modified by her third brother to not use mental energy, which is an important element to amplify the connection of the lightbrain to the star network so she can just read all her previously saved books.

Tiara saved thousands of academic books. She has read three quarters of those books, she’s sure that if somebody asked her anything about those books, she will be able to answer as she can remember anything that she already read, so she’s sure that she hasn’t encountered the words that she heard before coming on this warship

Knight’s oath

So now, she’s looking for a book that might contain those words on the remaining books that she hasn’t read yet, found it, History of Knights.

Her family consists of genetic orc warriors who swore allegiance to the Paxley crown thus conferring their family as the house of Flecker with the insignia of black panther and a knight’s sword and all the members born with that surname should undergo training to become a knight, so she downloaded this book, she just didn’t read it before because she felt that it’s impossible for her to become a knight but now even without scanning her mental power she’s sure that she’s no longer on the lowest rank, she’s just not sure what level she is now. And aside from her mental power, she’s worried about her brother.

After reading the whole book, she stared at the wall for some time and unknowingly, tears started flowing from her eyes.

A knight’s oath, for a pure human knight, this is just a test of loyalty but for a genetic orc warrior this is an absolute oath that might lead to death if not fulfilled.

If her brother really makes a pact and is sealed by the magic circle, his life or death will be tied up to that person. What should she do? She can’t let her brother do such stupid oath!

“What’s the problem? Why are you crying?” a hurried voice suddenly rang on Tiara’s ears then she saw the man her brother promised to have an oath to, if she’s not mistaken, his name is Theodore

“You-, are you really going to take my brother’s oath?” Tiara asked then she looked at the other person’s eyes, what happened to him? Frozen?

“You can talk?”

“I’m not mute so why can’t I talk?” Tiara suddenly flared up with that question but she’s trying to calm herself

“I didn’t mean that you are mute, I was just surprised that a daughter of a genetic orc warrior can really do things like a normal person. There was no precedent before so I asked that, and now I know how stupid my question was after I already heard your voice so forgive me my lady”

Tiara was stunned with Theodore’s explanation, maybe because of her irritability after being in an unknown place coupled with her fear of what might happen to her brother, she got mad so fast “I’m also sorry, I’m being emotional right now so I answered that way”

“It’s fine, I can understand” Theodore answered with a smile “Regarding your question, whether I like it or not, knowing your brother, I need to accept it unless…”

“Unless what?”

“Unless there is another compensation equal to your brother’s oath”

“Compensation equal to my brother’s oath? Can you give me an example?”

“An example? Hmmm, for example your name?”

“My name? how can my name be equal to my brother’s oath?”

Theodore chuckled looking at Tiara’s not believing look “Your name, my lady, including everything about you, is under the highest authority, which means only the king can open that, and that authority was given in exchange for your father’s merit as a knight. If any information about you leaked without authorization, your father can open a royal trial against the king. So, tell me, isn’t your name equivalent to your brother’s oath?”

Tiara never imagined that her childish and loving father would exchange his merit for her information’s protection, now she really misses her family more and more.

“Gianna Tiara Lynrose Flecker, that’s my name”

“Gianna Tiara” Theodore mumbled “what a pretty name”

“Thank you” she smiled

“cough” Theodore cleared his throat then he took a handkerchief and gave it to Tiara “wipe your tears…”

“Thank-“

“Stop saying thank you. You already paid enough so don’t say another word of gratitude.”

“I see” Tiara said although she can’t still figure out what’s so important about her name that made this person erase the previous debts

“Good. By the way, it was rude of me to ask the lady’s name first before saying mine. Forgive me on that negligence. Let me introduce myself. I am Theodore Astraeus Paxley, the commander of the tenth legion, it’s my pleasure to meet you Lady Flecker” Theodore said as he makes a slight bow.

Surnamed Paxley, she heard her brother said this man is a prince, although he used his surname, he didn’t say that he was from the royal family, instead used his army rank title, making himself in a level same as hers. A true nobleman who can use words to make people at ease.
