As she talked about the day's forecast and how it was going to be a perfect sunny day. I started to drown in my thoughts while over thinking that it was going to be my first day of work at my dad's company. I was already having jelly feet after recalling that I would be seeing Daniel after a long while. The traffic was becoming less and as if on cue, the reporter mentioned a very familiar name "Drem town" she went ahead to say that there was a rumor that wolves were being sighted there a lot. And the number of wolves there was almost double of the humans there. The people that residents there were calling on the government to help them with a weapons to protect their lives that was being threatened by these animals. I never really heard of wolves when I lived there. Without paying much attention to what she had to say, I waved my thoughts aside. Maybe she wasn't talking about the same Dream Town I knew of. My Drem Town was a small town, Yes. But it wasn't in any way all she said on the radio. Drem town was the most peaceful place anyone would be in. With a small population, which was enough to give one peace of mind. I made it to the company almost just in time. I was only three minutes short of my scheduled time. I got off my car, with my whole attention on making it to the building. PECAN was the company's name ana come didn't really change last I saw of it. As at eight years ago, it was the talk of the city and till this very, it still is. Heaving the pent up anxiety mixed with an uncertain strange feeling, I finally opened the door. I walked into the reception room, while taking a few strides towards the receptionist. I was welcomed by the young lady sitting there with a "Welcome to Pecan American Limited, how many I help you?" She sounded like a robot with the whole composure thingy. Looking at her, the very first thing I noticed was her overly mad up face. Though, from my analysis she would have been way prettier than the face I was seeing had it been she went natural. Her stiletto shoes were a shiny red which didn't really compliment the gown she was putting on. Done with sizing her up, I gave a cheerful smile which she returned quickly. I went ahead to ask her for directions the CEO's office "I mean Me Bello" I blurted out, not even trying to mince words. "I'm sorry, you need to book an appointment. Besides he is hardly ever reachable. You'll need to meet with the executive director first, which requires booking an appointment with him too. So would you want that?" She asked, popping the question out of no where. Just when I was about replying her, I heard a voice from behind. "Eva? Is that you my baby?" The voice screamed out loud. Turning swiftly towards the direction of the voice that I has grown to love, I could see my father looking all joyous. He was bemeaning with a lot smiles. No doubt, he missed me a lot. In joy, I found my self in his warm embrace. I was so happy to seem again after all the years I spent studying abroad. "How are you doing, pops? You're definitely aging with grace from look of things" I said will smiling like I had won a lottery. "Oh yes, you handsome old man sure is. I really missed you a lot my daughter. At least now you're back you can take care of your old man". He answered, his smile reaching his eyes. All the while I was speaking with dad, the receptionist was just staring at us with her mouth a tad bit parted. Shocked could be the word. Daniel's POV. I got into the building and all the ladies in there were already oogling their eyes out. "So much for being handsome, yh?'' I whined almost loudly." I thought the hallway looked so flashy and literally all the expensive designs of different kinds hung on the wall, displaying various artworks and artifacts that on first sight seemed unique and astonishing. The receptionist that directed me to the most available elevator was acting all clingy and twice through out. It was really funny watching her that way. She looked like a joke of a person with the heavy make up she had on. She must have been feeling like princess Cleopatra, I thought while laughing out loud. Looking down at the paper that had directions to my office, I realized that I was going to be under the superintendent for the time being. Little wonder the way I was being looked at by the workers in the company as I made for my office. "Hey man! You new? You the new Nigga?" The black American accent hit me real hard. The lanky and tall guy looked rather too free spirited than most of the people that passed me by, all the same I'll keep no friends at all in this company until I achieved what I came for. friendship could definitely wait. "I bet that this nigga would very much know his limit once her realizes who I actually am. He would of course know where his borderline to mine must have ended on his own part." I spat out. Ignoring him, I strutted towards the door of my supposed office, I slid my premium card in and I was met with a loud feeling sound. I was instantly by marvelled by the beauty of my office , I would need to meet the main director, which is my dad. And make it known that I’ve started work. Thinking aloud, I remembered how things were in the army. It wasn't really a bird of roses as most people thought. Everyday, one had to stay in deserted houses when at the warfront. Kabul was the last place I had gone to as a lieutenant colonel and it wasn't so good an experience to relieve. The doors were all unhinged. The bare floor was so rough and it seemed as though the particular building we stayed in for encampment wasn't a place to live in or even hide. It was in this same war that I lost my very close friend, he was caught up with the grenade that tore him to pieces right in front of me. I mourned him then and I know it would be safe for me to say that I still mourn him. War is hell. Just ask anyone who's been in it. The Battle of Afghan was like other battles of the Civil War; bloody, messy, and deadly. By the time fighting was over, 3,000 were dead and more than 16,000 were injured. Medics were overwhelmed. According to Mental Floss, the wounded troops were so worn out from marching and sleeping rough, many were unable to fight off the infections that came as they sat in the mud and waited for help. Many died from those infections, but when darkness fell a weird thing happened. Some of the soldiers' wounds started to glow. It wasn't long before they realized those fortunate enough to be bathed in what was quickly termed the "Angel's Glow" were more likely to live than their non-glowing comrades. It must have seemed like the touch of the divine, but why were only some soldiers spared? My friend wasn't among the people spared and it pains a lot to recount this story. He was meant to go back to his family a week after the war, but I was the only one who did.
