“Where is she ?” Beatriz gasps.
I stride into the small room, my eyes taking in everything ... the cut bindings, the overturned chamber pot. “Someone took her”. I say grimly.
“Her stepmother ?”
“Or Maceo. They are the only two with reason to ...”. I shake my head. “No, they cannot do her harm. They need the marriage to be legal and binding. And long-standing. Maceo wants an heir off Ines”.
Beatriz nods.
I turn to her. “You know the hotel better than me. Where could she be ?”
Beatriz is shaking her head. “I don’t know. I don’t know. If it’s Maceo ...”.
“Assume it’s him, it makes most sense”. I order. I am not sure that her stepmother is strong enough to abduct Ines, I have a feeling she would fight back at this point, even if she is scared for her father.
