7: Someone found and something lost

1476 Words
*Jackson* I had needed some fresh air, or that might be the wrong way of saying it, I mean it is a beach party. I needed some peace and quiet and to get away from people who basically all just want something from me. So that is why I find myself walking along the lake behind my hotel. Looking over at The palm on the other side. It seems unusually quiet tonight, probably most people are attending my party. “Blue.. no.. Blue do not get in the water”. I call after my dog as he sprints out into the water, but too late, he is already swimming happily along. I am always a bit nervous when he jumps in the lake, as there could be Cuban crocodiles lurking around and those are known to be very aggressive. I stop at the brink, the way the little waves are lapping at the shore is rather calming, there is actually a fair amount of wind today, it is a bit like the two large hotels form a wind tunnel. It is blowing towards me and I hope that the palm has tethered their little boats better this time. Last time we had a storm, half of them got loose and drifted to our side having Mr Vega accuse me of stealing them. “Blue.. come boy”. I call, hoping he is done with his water play soon, and reminding myself that he gets to sleep in his doggy bed tonight. I freeze when I hear him make a yapping sound out on the water. There is something in the water with him.. something floating.. Please let it not be a crocodile. “Blue, here now boy”. But he doesn’t come.. or well he seems to get closer but slowly, like something has a hold of him, holding him back. I walk closer, stepping out to the edge of the water, not caring that my expensive Italian leather loafers get wet, trying to get a better view of what it is in the water with him. “What the..”. It’s a person and Blue is trying to pull him or her towards me. I instantly wade farther into the water as fast as possible, wondering if it’s a dead body or if the person is still alive and what the f**k someone is doing in the lake in the first place. “Good boy”. I tell Blue as I reach them. Out here in the lake, standing thigh deep in the cold water I can’t see much, it seems to be a woman though, wearing a flowing green dress. I lift her over my shoulder, quickly getting her to the shore. Laying her gently down, I start searching for a pulse, it’s there but weak. I brush the hair from her face to check her breathing and stop in shock. “Fuck.. Ines.. what the..”. Leaning down I check her breathing… nothing… oh dammit. Blue is whimpering beside me, like he knows something is wrong here. Luckily I know how to give mouth to mouth and I just hope she hasn't been too long in the water. Wondering how the hell she even got there. Finally she coughs, and I turn her on the side, allowing the water she throws up to get out. But she doesn’t wake up, so I lift her into my arms and after a short thought process I decide to carry her to my private rooms. “What should I do ?” I ask Blue, who sits in the middle of the room, looking at me. I should get that wet dress off her.. good idea”. I lay her gently on the bed and try to figure out how to get the dress off when there is a sharp knock on my door and Nick steps in. “Boss, are you here..”. He stops in the tracks. “Uhm sorry to disturb”. “Oh God Nick, no I found her in the lake”. I glare at him. “Go get Doc for me, I need her to check her over”. He nods and backs towards the door. “Right away”. “And Nick..”. I say, making him stop. “Don’t mention this to anyone else”. “Of course boss”. He gives me a small smile and then he is gone. Being alone again I get back to working on the dress, chuckling to myself as I realise how she would react if she woke up now, finding me in the midst of undressing her. I have no doubt it would involve screaming and slapping. The dress slides off and then her slip follows and my heart kinda stops and speeds up at the same time. I had not expected her to only wear panties under, giving me a perfect view of her chest and the soft orbs with the dark n*****s, perking up from the cold. Feeling the instant reaction she causes to my body I quickly pull the covers over her. I should not be looking at her like that .. and I do not want to desire her, she is a stuck up little b***h, she proved that earlier, no matter how lovely she looks and how perfect her breasts are. Soon there is a knock and Virginia Simmons steps in, she is something as rare as a female doctor and even more rare, someone I trust to keep quiet. “Hi Jackson, what is the problem ?” “I found her in the lake, weak pulse, but not breathing”. I explain. “I gave her mouth to mouth, she threw up water and is breathing fine now.. but she is not waking up”. “Okay, let me have a look at her”. She says, opening her bag and walking to the bed. I swallow when she starts to pull off the blanket. “Uhm, I’ll be over here.. by the window.. yeah”. Standing by the grand window I look out at the lake and her home on the other side, while Doc looks her over. Something must have gone wrong for her to end up in the lake, and that is the main reason I took her here.. to figure out what happened first. “Jackson, I am done.. you can look”. Virginia says and I turn to look at her. “She seems physically okay, a few bumps and bruises.. and she took a bad hit to the head”. “Hit.. as in.. she was attacked ?” I stare at her. Virginia lets out a soft breath. “I can’t say with absolute certainty.. but as a doctor and a human I would say yes.. someone hit her over the head.. hard, and dumped her in the lake, she has marks on her arms like someone grabbed her hard and scratches on the back of her legs like she was dragged”. “Damn”. So my first instinct was right. “Will she be okay Doc ?” Sne nods. “I can’t see a reason she shouldn’t be.. just give her some time.. she should wake soon”. “Thanks Doc, for coming this fast”. I say, smiling at her. “And for not telling anyone”. She chuckles. “Call me if there are any complications or if she hasn’t come around by tomorrow morning.. okay ?” “Okay”. I turn to the bed as Virginia walks towards the door. “See you doc”. “See you”. She calls, before closing the door behind her. I go feed Blue, telling him that he is a good dog, while once again trying to figure out who would try to kill Ines.. I mean sure she can be bitchy and annoying, but I can’t see who would want to murder her or who would gain from it. While waiting I kinda pace the room, stopping to tidy up, sitting down with the paper, looking out the window, looking over some papers. Unable to sit still for long. “Where am I ?” I almost drop the book I am flipping through at the sound of her voice, and quickly look up to find her sitting up in the bed, the blanket held tightly to her chest. I put the book back on the shelf. “You are in my room”. “And who are you ?” She is staring at me, but before I can say something she kinda sighs. “Who am I ?”
