“It’s been busy. I’ve worked at places where the owner is the business, like they feel the employees can’t handle things without them, or they enjoy being the center of attention. Kai isn’t that way. It’s a refreshing change.”
“Are most of the customers regulars?”
“About three-fourths. We get the occasional post-business meeting social hour, or bar hoppers celebrating the upcoming nuptials of one of their group,” Maya shrugged. “It’s a nice place to work. Not much riffraff, good tips, friendly coworkers.”
As she talked, she wiped the already clean bar, took glasses from the dishwasher and stacked them on the counter behind her. Lucas enjoyed how the long, toned muscles of her arms flexed as she moved.
“How long have you worked for Kai?”
