Chapter 12: The Agreement

Mia Duncan’s POV “Breathe, Mia, breathe,” I whispered to myself as I was holding the machete as I was standing behind the door. I was waiting for Detective Harsh to come in as I will attack him from behind. “Eduardo, are you in there?” Liam said as he came into the garage. “Eduardo?” He asked again. The silence was filling the room as he stepped inside the garage. He looked around as he saw I was not on the chair. “s**t,” he said before walking toward the handcuffs that used to tie me up. “Eduardo, wake up, man. Eduardo!” He said as he looked around. I lurked in the shadow as I want to surprise him with my attack. He looked back at the unconscious man on the floor before I went to attack him on the back with a machete. “Ah!” I screamed as I was jumping on him. He was surprised at my sudden attack but recovered to dodge my attack. He blocked my swings as we looked at each other’s eyes. “You need to work on your skill,” he whispered as he was smirking. “I don’t need to,” I said before I let go the machete and slid down my legs to get him unbalanced. He jumped before I could kick him as he pushed me to the ground as Liam threw the machete far away from us. “Looks like you do need some practice,” he said, chuckling. “Not with you,” I said as I was kicking him again. He dodged it as he got up from me as I also back flipped to be stable on my feet. I was on the battle stand as Liam was casually looked at me with his lazy eyes. “Impressive. Not everyone can escape from the handcuffs. You must have a very good skill at picking locks,” he said as he walked around me. “I learned from the best,” I said as turned as well, mimicking his movement. “Hmm,” he said as he was expecting something before he threw some daggers at me. I dodged it even though they were very difficult to get through. Some went through my hair and it cut a piece of them. “Hey!” I exclaimed at him before the dagger went to touch my cheek. “Ow!” I said as I touched my cheek and it was running red. “Now, looks who’s whining,” he mocked me as I can feel my anger was boiling my blood. “Why, you son of a b***h,” I said as I went to get to him. I ran at him as I punched and kicked at him. He blocked all my punches as we were dancing on the dance floor except we were trying to kill each other. “Look at us, dancing with our kicks,” he said as I gritted my teeth. “We’ll see about that,” I said as I jumped on his shoulder and I locked my feet around his neck before I squeezed him to lock on his air supply. Unfortunately, he knew how to break it as he went to break my ankle as I feel pain around my foot. I screamed of the pain before releasing my grip from his neck. I landed on the floor on my arms and before I tried to get up to fight him, he held me still by locking my hands on top of my head and putting his knee between my feet so that I cannot move. “Let me go,” I said as I struggled to get out of his grip. “No,” he simply said. “Why you,” I said before he put machete around my neck. I instantly quieted down as the contact of the cold metal on my neck. I was breathing heavily as bad memories came to my mind about my past. “You shut up and listen well. I will look past about the fact that you are the reason that my father was killed but I don’t know what he was killed for. I want to find out the truth and I need your help,” Liam said as he looked at me in the eyes. He was not bluffing. I looked at him before opening my mouth to answer him. “And if I refuse?” I asked. He smirked at me as he went toward my left ear. “If you refuse, I will make sure that no one, I mean no one, will ever find your body. Your choice,” he said as he was looking at me again. I have to think fast as I don’t want to end up dead. “What do I get out of this…deal?” I asked as I tried to remain calm in this pressured situation. He smiled at me as he removed the machete out of my throat. I sighed as a sign of relief. “You will be seeing another day before I put you in jail. Either way, you can have your final day in prison with peace,” he said as he pulled me up and turned me around to handcuff me again. “Wait,” I said as he was stopping to handcuff me. He turned me around to look at me with one arching eyebrow. “Don’t I get benefits if I work with you? I mean, I may need my rights as human as well if not for being murderer, right?” I said as his facial expression changed. I can feel that his motor was moving inside his head. He looked at me with his deep emerald eyes. “What do you need? And don’t make it hard or I will not treat you like a human or a woman at all,” he said as he was pointing his finger at my face. I smiled at him before using my sweet seductive voice at him. “I want to have a shower since I don’t shower for almost 2 days now. I want to eat with you guys, I don’t want you to lock me up in the handcuffs as it would hurt my wrists,” I said as I showed to him the bruises. He inspected it before pulling me to take a seat and he went to get a first aid kit. I was smiling as he could be attentive as well. “Anything else, Your Highness?” He said sarcastically as he was putting some antiseptic on the bruise. I hissed as it stung my skin. “Stay still,” he said as he was putting some ointment and rolling my bruise with band aid. As he finished treating my bruises, he looked at me again as I was inspecting his work. “Nice work,” I said as I rolled my hands a few times to look at the immaculate piece of work. “Thank you, anything else?” He said as I looked at his face. I put my hands under my chin as it was resting on the table as I was smiling wickedly at him. “I want to meet the woman that you were talking to this morning,” I said as I was waiting for his reaction. “What, Eduardo’s mama? No way, she can’t be a part of this,” he said as he was standing up. I stood up as well before Liam was walking toward Eduardo. “Come on, Liam. If Eduardo was a part of this mission, then I need to be an acquaintance to them,” I said as he was checking Eduardo’s pulse. If he called me by my name, maybe I can sweeten the deal by doing the same with his given name as well. “What did you do to him?” He asked as he looked at me. “I just kicked him. It’s not my fault that he was weak,” I said as a matter-of-fact. “He just my caretaker. You don’t need to take him out cold,” Liam said as he stood up, shaking his head at me. I shrugged. “Well, you should tell me that as you were tying me up. Oh wait, I was out cold as well,” I hissed at him before he was looking sharply at me. He sighed as he gave up with me, trying to be logical and rational. “We need to leave if we want to carry this investigation,” he said before he put Eduardo on a comfortable position as he was grunting in his sleep. “Why, detective, afraid the upper management would be upset with you?” I said as I sat on the table, crossing my legs. The short dress rode up my thighs as Liam looked at me briefly. His ears were red as I can feel that he was aroused by my action. “So, what now, detective?” I asked as I pulled the breakfast plate and ate it. It has been a while since I got to eat a meal. “Now, we need to leave this building. I need to leave a note to say that I have done what I needed to do here. I will be home the first thing after lunch,” he said as he was writing something on a paper. I went to look at his handwriting as he was leaving a message. “Nice handwriting,” I said as he looked at me briefly. “Geez, thanks,” he said sarcastically. “Can you not be salty with me? I already agreed to find your father’s killer,” I said as I was frustrated when he treated with a cold shoulder. “I trusted you to bring me to the organization HQ, it’s not me but it’s you that I don’t trust. You just wanted to kill me a few minutes ago,” he said as he put the paper in Eduardo’s hand. He then went toward a storage box and took out a backpack. “Let’s go,” he said as he dragged me out of the garage. I rolled my eyes as I stopped him for a while. He looked at our hands before I pulled away, “We need to go to my hotel, I need to take some stuff,” I said as I was looking at him. His brows coming together to form a knot. “Why?” He asked. “Because I need to get the organization off our back if we want to get them,” I said as I went out of the garage before Liam followed pursuit.
