Chapter 13: The Memory

1537 Words
A few months ago… Sabrina Dubois’ POV “Where will you be going, sister?” I asked my eldest sister, Celine, as she was packing her bags for her awaited Euro trip with her friends. “I don’t know. London, Milan, Roma, Lisbon, everywhere,” she said excitedly as she was packing her stuff. I was still a sophomore in college which meant I don’t have much money to travel. Since my major was a hardcore STEM major, I needed to focus more on college. Compared to my sister, who was an English major, she could be lenient. “Don’t forget to bring a souvenir for us when you got back,” I said before I went out of her room and went to get my assignments done because it will be due in 2 days. I was so happy for my sister that she can finally live her dream to travel to Europe. I was walking up the stairs to my room as I heard my mother and father were talking about something. “Don’t you think it is suspicious?” My mum asked my dad. “It can’t be helped. It was a government-issued letter. We cannot interfere,” he said before my mother sighed. I peeked into the kitchen to see that they were holding a letter that seemed important. I did not think much at that time as I have other pressing matter to take care of. I was doing my homework for human immunology and was very intrigued by the development of the bacteria that can be used as a cure for so many things. But, I also read about the bad effect that these bacteria can do if they got into the wrong hands. I had finished my homework when I was about to go to sleep, Celine came into my bedroom and gave some warm milk to help me sleep. I thanked her before taking it. I was not suspicious of anything. I felt sleepy immediately and before I knew it, I was knocked out with a blurry image of peoples in dark suits coming to my room and Celine was smiling at me. I saw that she was talking about something before I closed my eyes. I woke up with a start when all I could see was an empty room that was painted in beige. There was no window, nothing except for a door. I was strained at the chair that I was sitting in as I tried to get out of the chain. It was useless. Suddenly, the door opened and Celine was coming in with two other people, which I assumed that they worked for her. “Sister, what’s all this?!” I hissed at her as I looked suspiciously at the two guys behind her. She just smirked at me as the men were doing something around the room. “Dear sister, you don’t know your birthright, do you?” She said eagerly. Birthright? What the hell was Celine talking about? “What the f**k are you talking about?” I said as I tried to get out of this creepy cell. “You’re a weapon that has been hiding under the restricted act from the government. We are now activating you to get the job done,” she said before the guys were putting something into my body as I can feel pain in the neck. “What are you doing, Celine? I am your sister,” I screamed at her as I can feel something in my blood. What the hell was happening to me?!! “Not by blood-related, I’m afraid. I was your doctor who created you and now, you will be free, my creation,” she said before she read some series of codes. “Alpha, Gemini, Orange, France, Scottish, Homecoming, Freud,” she said before I can feel something was immediately turn off and I was in an abyss of emotion. Nathan White’s POV I ran away from Lucca’s wedding as he was nowhere to be found and after my talk with Antonio Romano, I felt like I had to give it a second chance. I can convince her that I was not who she thought I was. I can finally be free of my own will and not restricted by the government’s promise. After that night, I needed to get her, want her to be a part of my dull life. Only she can fill the void that I have. I already traced her number as I went to check on her profile. I was a spy after all. I can do anything for what I wanted to. I called the number that I have and at the first ring, she picked up the phone. “Hello?” She asked and the first time in my life, I felt complete. “Hello, is this Sabrina?” I said as I tried to get the right person at the end of the line. “Sabrina, who?” She asked. “Sabrina Lebrun,” I said, “This is she speaking. Who am I talking to?” She asked. God, she played hard to get. “It’s Nathan, Nathan White. We kind of met 3 weeks ago in Milan, remember?” I said as I wished that I was more than just a one-night stand to her. My heartbeat was fast as I waited for her answer. “Oh, Nathan. I remember. What’s the occasion that I have you calling me in the middle of the evening?” She said as she purred at the phone. “I was wondering if you’re want to go on a date with me?” I asked, crossing my fingers for a yes. “Sure, where do you want to meet?” Sabrina asked. “How about Paris? I will be there for a couple of days,” I said as I walked around in the garden of the Hotel del Golfo. It was a luxurious hotel, fit for Lucca’s exaggerated taste for his wedding. “Sure, I’ll be there but of course you know that since you wanted to meet,” she said as she laughed at her joke. I laughed as well. “I don’t want to take too much of your time but I’ll see you soon. Au revoir,” I said as I waited for her. “Au revoir, monsieur White,” she said before ended the call. Celine Lebrun’s POV My invention has been at the last stage of my testing. I have been using my sister, albeit she was just one of my creations that succeed the experiments, to make sure that it will be working wonderfully. I have to lie to my foster parents that Sabrina was okay and I knew that I was the one that made her the way she was today. She should thank me for not destroying her when I knew the test was more important than her own life. But, to my surprise, Sabrina was compatible with my testing. “Now, remember, Sabrina. You are now Sabrina Lebrun. Do not expose your true identity to that CIA agent or I will kill you with my bare hands,” I said as Sabrina was looking ahead, emotions were void from her face. “Yes, mistress,” she said as she was looking the part when she first made contact with that stupid agent. I needed to make sure that she will never reveal herself or me to him or my work will be in danger. “Remember, you are on your own. Do not fail me, servant,” I said before I let her go on her way to meet with Nathan White. My phone rang as Sabrina left the apartment. “Lebrun speaking,” I said as I knew who would be calling me at this hour. “Where is your project, Ms. Dubois? I need to see that my investment in your program will not be fruitless like the 99 projects that you have convinced me to fund,” my boss said as she was munching on her food. “I can assure you, Madame, it is on the schedule. The weapon is working as we were speaking right now,” I said as I felt I was proud with my invention this time. “How do I can sure that you are not lying, Ms. Lebrun?” She asked me as she doubted about this too. “I will make the live cam online now,” I said as I went to type the code into the mainframe of the computer. “It better be good, Lebrun,” she threatened me. “It is, I can safely say that we have infiltrated the CIA of the United States,” I said as my boss scoffed before the cam was online. “Now, show time,” I said as I was controlling on the mainframe of Sabrina’s camera.
