1407 Words
Upon arrival, Emily couldn't help but still wonder what secrets lay hidden behind the walls and frames of the Thompson villa. Emily Wilson, a young and ambitious nanny, stood outside the entrance of Thompson's villa, her heart racing with full anticipation, her eyes fixed on the beautiful artistic drawings on the wall spread throughout the entrance of the mansion. Emily flashed back to how she got selected by the agency to work for Mr Thompson. Her dedication and commitment to the agency has been what has earned her the opportunity to work with Mr Thompson as a nanny for his beautiful daughter Sophia. Would she continue to work for Mr Thompson, or would she go back to the agency that had recommended her to work? Emily smoothed out her dress and took a deep breath as the massive wooden door to the main building swung open, revealing a stern-looking butler smiling as the door opened, leaving a welcoming aura to Emily. “Ah, Miss Wilson, welcome to the Thompson estate," he said, his voice as strong as his posture and face.I am Joachim, the butler. Please may you come in." Emily followed Joachim as he showed her the way to her room, helping her drop her luggage and ensuring she settled in while he got ready to show her round the villa. Emily followed Joachim through the foyer, her eyes widening as she took in the lavish decorations in the mansion. Crystal chandeliers hung from the ceiling, casting colors across the marble floor, decorated with flowers on each edge of the room. All the furniture was well arranged, looking too expensive as she couldn't say a word but the stairs as she knew she had walked into something much better than she usually had before now... As they walked round the building, Joachim gave Emily a detailed briefing about her duties and how to go about them, also letting her know of the rules and regulations of the house so as not to get Mr Thompson offended by her activities, as he loved everything being done the proper way. They got to a very colorful room filled with lots of colors, toys and a picture of a beautiful girl hung by the bedside in the room whose name is Sophia. Joachim walked Emily right into Sophia's room, still staring at the beautiful damsel right in front of her, her eyes so tender and soft like her voice, she greeted her in her tiny voice, smiling. “ Good afternoon Mr Joachim “ Mr Joachim smiled back at her as he tried to lift one of her toys to give to her. It is almost possible to come in contact with the beautiful Sophia and not love her at first sight. Emily, without hesitation, knelt before Sophia, so adorable, smiling and holding her hands, made a brief introduction of herself, smiling back at the adorable damsel right in front of her. ”I am Emily. "I will be your new nanny and your best friend, she said. It's nice meeting you. I have truly heard a lot about you and I can't wait to tell you all about them and get to know you more. She smiled, asking little Sophia," Would you love to be my friend?" Sophia came down from her bed and gave Emily a deep hug as she had long missed her previous nanny. At least she has someone to talk to now, and she replied," Sure you can be my friend as long as you're always available when I need you, and you tell me bedtime stories, then we are friends already," she smiled. After the introduction, Joachim went ahead to brief Emily about Sophia's daily routine, what she loved ,what she disliked, her favorite movies, her time to go to bed, her favorite color and her preferred meal to get along with the young girl. He finally left to attend to other things that needed his attention around the mansion. Emily smiled and handed Sophia a block of bricks. "Let's build a castle, shall we?” Little Sophia, without wasting time, jumped into happiness searching for the other bricks to build a castle. Emily couldn't help but notice the strange silence that filled the nursery while they played. There were no sounds of laughter or music, just an oppressive stillness that seemed to surround the room. She thought to herself that little Sophia may have been depressed lately by the death of her mum, and she was also losing her nanny at the same time. It must have been really difficult for her, as she vows to ensure that little Sophia is always happy to help her get out of her depressed state as she continues with laying the bricks to build the castle. Suddenly, Joachim came towards the door, his face fixed directly. "Miss Wilson, Mr. Thompson would like to see you in his studies now." Emily's heart skipped a beat as she stood up still smiling towards Sophia, smoothing out her dress. "Of course," she said, following Joachim out of Sophia's room. As they walked, Emily couldn't help but wonder what Mr. Thompson wanted to see her. Was it something about Sophia's care, or was it something different as her heart kept racing in thoughts? They got to the study and Joachim opened the door, leading Emily inside and leaving immediately to finish up what he was doing. As Emily stood in front of Mr Thompson, shaky and nervous, waiting to know why she was summoned almost immediately upon arrival at Thompson's villa, her eyes kept moving round the study as it was a dark and foreboding room, filled with rows of dusty books and cobwebs around with a massive wooden desk where books were kept as she couldn't believe despite how busy she taught me Thompson would be he still has time to read books she was yet to unravel a lot more about the Thompson's villa. Mr. Thompson sat behind his desk, his eyes fixed directly on Emily as he kept sipping the whiskey right in front of him holding the picture of his daughter. "Ah, Miss Wilson," he said, his voice low. "I trust you're settling in well." Emily nodded, her heart racing. "Yes, Mr. Thompson, I am also Sophia, who is a lovely and smart child. I love her. I am really happy to be her nanny and also to work in your villa. Mr. Thompson's eyes narrowed. "I'm glad to hear that. But let me make one thing very clear to you, Sophia's care is of the utmost importance. "I expect you to devote yourself fully to her needs and ensure she is happy at all times.” he's voice changing as soon as he spoke about Sophia, ensuring she understood what he was saying clearly and that he could go any mile to ensure she was OK as she was the only person in the world he had left and can go any mile for that doesn't want anything from him, but he's love. Emily felt ghost bumps run down her spine as she met Mr.. Thompson's gaze for the first time. There was something unsettling about his intensity, something that made her feel she had made a mistake already. Emily replied “I understand Mr Thompson", her voice so low that it couldn't be compared to a whisper as she replied nervously, already asking herself if she should just go back to the agency and let them know she couldn't accept the job anymore as she was scared of her life already. Mr. Thompson nodded, his eyes not leaving hers. "Good. I'm glad we both have a mutual understanding of each other." As Emily left the studies, she couldn't shake the feeling that she was trapped in a web of secrets and lies surrounding her, and at the center of it all was Sophia, a beautiful and innocent child who knew Nothing but deserves only the best in the world, as she was the sole reason why Emily decided to stay back and ensure she gave her the necessary care needed just to ensure she forgets about the loss of her mother and brings out the jovial, loving girl she met in her room earlier. Emily, however, returned to the nursery. She couldn't help but wonder what secrets Mr. Thompson was hiding!! And what lay behind the eerie silence that filled the Thompson mansion throughout.
