Undefeated Daughter

12. Obstacle course

Lucas POV:

I had to go for a run, my blood was pumping and I was ready to f**k her on that bed. She was so innocent and so pure but I knew I had to take it slowly. I had to gain her trust but a little bit of teasing wouldn’t harm anyone. I had to take back control, Steelix was going wild in my head and nearly marked her, her smell was driving him insane.

Why did you do that ? He asked. She could be ours.

You changed your tune.

She smelled so good.

He was right, she didn’t smell of anything I loved like my mate would apparently, but with my enhanced smell, I loved her smell. When she opened the door her smell hit me and I nearly growled at her, I only realised why it was so powerful when I saw her towel, she just walked out of the shower.

After a short run I made my way to the field where all the warriors were gathering, I stood behind my brother who explained what would happen in the next few weeks and why we needed the Daughters.

“How can women help us?" I saw one of the warriors snigger at Kilian’s comments. I saw him look directly at Lily. I wasn’t surprised she was the most beautiful one but I knew what he meant; she was the shortest one out off all of them.

Fury came up behind me before I could snap his neck for questioning Lily. She told everyone who they were and warned us that we would be beheaded if we were be seen looking lustfully after a Daughter.

I hard Steelix whimper and when I looked up at Lily she had a grin on her face. Every time I looked at her my eyes would flicker between mine and Steelix’s, everybody would notice. She knew I would be beheaded if I looked at her. This was my hell and she was in heaven.

Fury called her sisters over and told me them that she would be watching how wolves fight. I saw Lily walking up towards me and my younger brother Adam with another girl.

“My name is Poppy and this is Lily” the girl introduced them. “Fury wants us to work with the Alpha’s brothers to see what you are capable off. You will be paired with one of us and we will go from there okay?”

My heart was beating again and I was ready to fight with Lily.

“I’m taking this one” Lily approached Adam and grabbed him by his shirt

I let out a small growl and faced Poppy.

“Show me what you got?”

I couldn’t concentrate on Poppy, I could hear Lily grunting and fighting with Adam. She was so swift and dodged most of his movements. But every time he punched her my attention would go to her. Poppy was jumping over me and slicing my legs.

“You know what Lucas; most babies are dropped on their heads but I swear you were thrown at a wall” this girl was insulting my defence and wasn’t taking the easy road.

“I don’t want to hit a girl” I explained.

“I’m  a woman but you sure hit like one”.

“Kilian I can’t concentre with her jumping around me” I tried to get my brothers attention but the next thing I knew I was on the floor.

 Lily POV 

I spent the rest of the afternoon looking at Poppy challenging most of the warriors. Her sword skills were unchallenged. I played with my arrows as wolves were either knocked out or dropped on their heads. It was starting to become comical; I knew that our reputation just rose ten-fold between Marble.

When Fury stepped up to be challenged I was surprised to see Kilian step up. He knew she was going to defeat him. She was using all her signature moves but at one point he had trapped her. My throat got dry and I saw fear in her eyes, I didn’t know if I should scream or help her out.

As soon as she beat him, Poppy ran up to her to tell her that it looked like he nearly defeated her. She looked confused beyond words, we had no idea it happened but I was glad our integrity stayed intact.

The training finished but I stayed behind to clear up. I picked up a random sword and started shadow fighting. This was my weakest weapon and all the Daughters knew. I was lethal with a bow and arrow but I couldn’t protect anyone with a sword.

“Want to spar?” I heard his voice. I had to ignore it, I walked a few meters away and started to string my bow. I shot three arrows at the same time and they hit a tree in the forest.

“Lily you know I can help you and I’m not leavvvving” he said in a sing- a long voice.

“Go away Lucas” I was scared someone might see. He stood in my view just as I was about to fire another arrow. “I said go away”.

“Do you want to know about my day?” he asked stupidly. I raised my eyebrow and looked at him. “I’ll tell you about my day. I…”

I shot an arrow and it landed just in front of his foot.

“Lucas you are driving me insane and you are TAKING THE SCENIC ROUTE!”

“Hey she speaks” he cheered

“You are getting on my nerves, ALL OF THEM!” I strung another bow and held it up. “Lucas I can shoot you in your shoulder blade. You will bleed for hours and it will be hard to heal and I suggest you leave me alone”.

He held his hands up and walked off into the forest.

At dinner I tried to focus on my food but I felt daggers being thrown my way. I looked a few times and found Lucas staring at me. It was becoming obvious that he was angry, but I told him what he needed to hear.

The next morning I felt fresh, I felt new. I knew Fury had the whole day planned and I wanted nothing more than to kick some wolf ass. I got dressed and headed downstairs. I met Fury on the way down, I wasn’t a great detective but she looked like she hasn’t slept a wink. “Fury wait up” I called from down the hall catching up to her. “I can’t wait for training today. I mean I know yesterday was good, but a whole day of beating those men, ummmm dream come true” .

“I just need some breakfast first; you can help me set the ground for today if you want”.

“Breakfast yes please. Can you smell cherries? I can smell them coming from the kitchen”  I sped up and ran up to the kitchen. I heard a soft growl from behind me and I knew a wolf was walking, I had to get them out of my head.

On the training ground I saw Fury setting up a familiar obstacle course, I laughed and told her that this will be easy for the Daughters as we have grown up with it. We know how to beat it, but when she told me that the Daughters would be part of the course , I knew what she meant.

“Lily lets swap today” Poppy got my attention.

“What do you mean?” I asked confused.

“I need to practice a bit more with a bow and arrow and I know you need to practice with a sword. I  rather do it now with these wolves than Dracula” she held out her hand gesturing for my bow which I held in my hand.

I held her sword and felt the weight of it, she always told me that it was the extension of her hand, she felt it was a part of her. Fury would say that same thing about her two swords, whenever they killed someone they knew it was them killing the enemy. I was different I always felt that my arrows killed on their own, they were not part of me, I told them where to go, I was in charge of them.

I was the 8th obstacle, I stood my ground as only a few of the wolves managed to get to me, but none went past. I heard the Daughters laugh as the men were getting annoyed. When the Beta tried to defeat Poppy, we knew no one would manage to beat us.

“I’m next” I heard a familiar voice.

Lucas was taking his top off and was getting ready to run. We haven’t worked out yet and I saw his body glistening in the sun, it wasn’t even sweat it was his soft skin. I felt my own palm tighten around the sword. I started swishing it round to get used to the weight again since I haven’t used it in a while.

“Come on then” I heard Poppy shout across the field. She was desperate for some Alpha blood on her hands.

“Don’t worry flower I’m coming” he joked, but he wasn’t looking at Poppy he was looking at me. I heard myself gulp and he started to run. Every advancement and every dodge was perfectly executed. Poppy misfired twice and he managed to dodge her. He wasn’t intending on fighting her, he wanted to finish the course as soon as possible and fighting with Poppy would only waste his energy. He had made it to  Lucy when I noticed a bit of blood on his temple. Whatever Lucy did to him worked; his movements were slower. Lucy kicked him in the ribs which had him flying to the ground. Lucy was a supernatural, we didn’t know what she was but she was something, just like me she was an orphan.

In an instant he lifted her up and flung her to the side. I knew he was coming for me, next thing I knew he stopped running and was standing opposite me. I was his target and he had made it.

“Hello Lily” his eyes turned dark brown and I couldn’t take my eyes of his body.

“Pick it up” I said as I grit my teeth and pointed to the second sword on the floor.

As he picked it up he lunged towards me from the floor, I managed to avoid him by dodging to the left, I elbowed him in the back as he went past me. When he turned around I saw his body again , one sculpted by the gods. Each muscle popping with veins and sweat starting to gather on them. I saw his muscle tense in his right arm and his body sway in the same direction, I knew what was coming. As our swords clashed together I noticed his surprised face.

I swiped his legs from underneath him and he felt to the floor, he quickly got up and I knew he must have felt small looking to a petite woman, but my height was my advantage . It made me sleeker and easier to miss. Our swords kept clashing and the field was filled with the clangs of metal.

“You’re weaker without your bows” he commented as my sword protected my ribs. I looked up and him noticed that his body eased. I took that as my advantage and headbutted him making him fall to the floor again. I jumped over his body, pulled his head by his hair and held my sword up to his neck.

“Well done” I heard him say as he stood up and walked back to the start line.
