9. Lily for my Lily

LILY POV:

I ran as fast as my legs could carry me. I didn’t want Lucas to rampage through the Palace and by the looks of it his wolf was starting to come out. I ran to the library and tried looking for Max. He was still sitting where I left him.

“Max come with me now” I picked him up by the collar of his shirt and dragged him to the furthest corner in the Palace, all along the way he was asking me what was wrong.

“Listen to me. I have protected your ass and sat painstakingly long in that library so you could be an Alpha. Now I need you to do something for me” I held onto my blade in case I saw Lucas coming.

“Anything” he admitted.

“There will be an Alpha meeting in two days time and  I’m suppose to teach you all the names and the packs of their Alphas as well as some vampire and wiccan leaders but I need to disappear tonight. Just for tonight. If I send you everything you need to know via email can you promise me you’ll look over it?”. Lucas said he will be leaving tonight which meant one thing, I would need to avoid him until he left.

“Lily, you’re shaking like a leaf what’s wrong?” he put his hand on my arm.

“DON’T TOUCH ME!” I reminded myself where I was. “Can you just promise me you’ll do what I asked you to do?”

“Yes, I will”.

I ran to the garage and grabbed my car which has been parked there for a couple of days. I didn’t even have my seatbelt on I needed to be gone.

“Mother what have I done? Moon Goddess what have I done to deserve this!” I screamed in the car as I headed towards the Hyatt. I have sacrificed my life for her, I protected wolves even though I was the one who wanted to kill them. I never disobeyed an order and this was what I got.

Tomorrow evening my sisters would be leaving South Carolina. I needed them with me, I needed their support, but they could never find out why. I parked my car right outside of the hotel and chucked my keys at the valet.

When I got to my room I couldn’t control my anger anymore. I screamed at the top of my lungs and started trashing the room. After a couple of minutes the TV was smashed, the cushions were ripped and the throw was on the balcony. I had to get in the shower, I needed to hear something else rather than his voice in my head.

I forwarded Max an email with all the details for the meeting and jumped in the shower.

 His voice kept ringing in my ears.

“Please stop it!” I sobbed naked in the shower. The images of him smiling and laughing with me made me cry even harder. The times he held me and danced with me, he was there for me in the hospital and killed the guy who nearly took advantage of me. He was a wolf that saved me, all because of him .

Mother was right I was stronger on my own. 

The next morning, I picked myself up and went back to the Palace. I needed to work with Max and I was secretly hoping my sisters would get there earlier.

“Max did you get my email?” I made him jump as he walked into the Palace.

“Yeah, hey listen I need to talk to you about something”, he looked at the corner of the lobby and we both walked over there from prying eyes and ears.

“What is it? Did someone hurt you?” I asked.

“No Alpha Lucas came to see me…”

“Just Lucas” I corrected him.

“Fine, just Lucas came to see me after you left and he was in a bad shape but he was looking for you. He told me to give you this” Max handed me small gift bag and waited for me to take it. “I’ll be in room 241 as I’m being moved there for the meeting. I’ll wait for you there and we can go through the guest list.” He left me to it but before I could look in the bag he spoke again. “Lily I have no idea what you did to him but I’m starting to understand why the Daughters are such a valuable asset to the Elders. You really hurt the guy, please don’t hurt me like that”. Max must have seen the arrow wounds on Lucas’ body.

Inside the bag I found a small note and something that was wrapped up. I wanted to throw it away but curiosity got the best of me.

“ Lily I’m sorry for lying to you. I wanted to spend every waking second with you and I knew that wouldn’t be possible if you knew about Steelix. I hid him away and now I’m getting the stick from him. Everything I said to you was true and it will never change. I don’t know what happened to you to make you hate wolves, but I was hoping that you would see me for who I was deep down rather than who I was born. Please accept my gift.

Castor, he was from Marble. The strongest wolf pack in America and instead of being proud he hid it from me. The Castor brothers were known to take in rogues who looked for shelter and help those who needed it the most. That was why he went to the children’s home.

I reached into the bag and I pulled out a plastic Lily.

“Don’t let it die”  his words ringed through my head, the first time he gave me a lily he told me I shouldn’t let it die. Why was he being this kind to me?

I have spent the last 30 minutes going through random pictures of people ( I use that term very loosely) that Max was going to be meeting tomorrow.

“Josephine? No I got it, Joline?” Max was getting on my nerves.

“Guess or statement?”

“Statement?”

I raised my eyebrow at him.

“Statement”.

I turned the picture around that I had in my and nodded my head, he was right Joline was the nearby wiccan advisor for the water witches.

“Next” , I held up a card and waited for his answer.

“Alpha Kilian Castor” his answer got my full attention.

I turned the card around and I noticed a man that was slightly older than Lucas looking back at me. He was dressed in a black suit and was clearly in a meting but the pictures could tell a thousand words. Those were his eyes, his dark brown eyes.

“That’s…”

“That’s Lucas’ brother, I know even the picture demands respect.” Max commented.

“I think that will be all for today Max, I will see you tomorrow and since you are staying at the Palace now I guess you won’t need my help”. I shook his hand and started to leave the room.

“Thank you for everything Lily, Pearl Moon Pack owes you” that was the first time I heard about his Pack I didn’t even bother to ask about it when I first met him.

I took my phone out and saw that the one person who’s voice I needed to hear was ringing me.

“Hello? Hello?”

“Fury? Hi” I answered.

“Yeah I’m just calling to let you know that we are leaving now but we have to go to Oddity tomorrow. Marcel want us to find a vampire that has been using wolfsbane to kill some wolves” that’s a good thing I thought to myself.

“That’s good news I will wait for you”.
