10. Wrong Door

Lily POV:

I knew my sisters were around the corners as soon as I heard the roar of their engines. From each car thousands of horse power tore thought New York City noise.

“Fury” I ran up to her and hugged her. Her long black hair hugging her figure. 

“Hey Lily is everything alright?” she asked concerned.

“Yeah not too bad, I just can’t wait to go home”.

“Well we need to go to Oddity first and then we have a meeting, after that we will be free from the Elder’s grasp.”

“Actually Fury I need to do something so I won’t be able to go to Oddity but I’ll be there for the meeting”.

I didn’t want to go to the same place where I was spiked. Oddity was filled with wolves but worst of all that was where he saved me. I knew that if I went I would spend all night looking up at the balcony where he stood that night.

After saying hi to all nine of my sisters I headed towards the local Costco, deep down I felt empty and even being surrounded by them and their dogs didn’t help, I knew what I had to do . My trolley was filled with chocolate and sweets. Perfect recipe for a perfect night.

“Lily!” Bella’s sweet voice pounded at the door to the Children’s home.

“Hi Bella, I think I bought too much chocolate at the shop do you think you could help me?” I have never seen such joy on a child’s face.  Most of the children helped me bring the groceries from the car and I got a scowling look from the workers.

“You’re spoiling them Lily” they warned me.

“Sent me the dental bill” I put my hands up innocently.

“Where’s Lucas, is he going to teach us how to dance today?” one of the girls asked whilst she was munching on a mars bar.

“No sorry, he’s busy today” I lied.

I came here not to think about anything, not to feel angry or upset. I didn’t want to think or feel, I just wanted to focus on something else. I thought these children would be the perfect distraction but I was wrong. Their smiles and laughter reminded me of him, what he did for those children and he did it not because he wanted to impress me because out of all the places in New York City this was his favourite.

I spent all day in the children’s home laughing and making cards. Some of them were addressed to Santa, Easter Bunny and some were given to me. I knew next morning would be interesting after I got the phone call from Poppy.

“Gossip?” I asked.

“Major, some wolf touched Fury in the club and she knocked him out. We have the vampires head so we’re going back to the hotel and we can go to the Palace in the morning”.

“Okay I’m going to wait for you at the hotel”.

Next Morning…...........................

As we were waking to Marcel’s “working office” I noticed that Fury was walking behind us. She would get headaches whenever she would be surrounded by wolves and this time it wasn’t different. When we walked in I saw Marcel along with Christopher by the desk and two unknown men in the far corner with Ophelia, Marcel's wife. We were here to do our job and we were waiting to get paid.

One more day, that’s what I kept thinking.

When one of the men stood up and faced Fury I released who he was. My heart started beating faster and my stomach started doing summersaults. It was Kilian, his eyes were flickering between light and dark brown just like Lucas’.  I had to get out of there, I couldn’t look at him.

In the meeting room  I was downing my second glass of water when Poppy gave me a concerned look.

“What is wrong with you?” she questioned my behaviour. “Look I know you’re worried about the contract but you know what they are going to ask of us. You need to be prepared or at least look like you are.”

As the meeting started I knew that there was a potential for Lucas to walk in at any point , he was becoming an Alpha and he had every right to be there. I just didn’t know how fast he would swear the Oath.

The High Elder explained that the supernatural world was in danger and we as the Daughters needed to train whoever needed to be in order to save it. Everyone was up for it, everyone wanted our help, including Max.

“I accept the contract” he said whilst looking at me and nodding his head.

“I deny the contract” there they were, the words that Fury spoke that would send us home and I would never have to step inside this Palace again or this city. I was ready to go, my bags were already packed in the trunk of my car. I didn’t care what was said after that until Kilian started speaking again

“This means on thing” Kilian stated. “It would make sense for you to stay at Marble and keep and eye on any extra training”.

What just happened?  Did Fury just say we will be training wolves? This wasn’t the plan! What was he thinking? I couldn’t go to Marble I couldn’t stand in front of Lucas again, not without firing another arrow first. He would be there, Lucas would be at Marble and then I couldn’t escape him or kill him. I couldn’t kill a future Alpha of a sister pack on Marble grounds.

“We accept your offer” Fury agreed.

FUCKING GREAT !

Lucas POV:

“So?” my mother's voice boomed in the study.

“So what Mother?” I asked through my teeth.

“ Did you find her?”

“Do you really think I would be here looking over some 300-year-old maps if I found my mate. No mother I did not find her”. I knew I sounded evil and ungrateful towards my concerned mother but I thought I found someone better. 

“Soon darling. You never know your brother might bring her home with him”. She wasn’t making any sense.

“And how exactly would he do that?”

“He has offered for any wolf who needs training to be welcomed here. They will be here for around 2/3 weeks so you never know she might come”.

The information hit me like a tonne of bricks, what if I did meet her? Would I forget about Lily just like that, at the snap of a finger? I didn’t want to forget Lily, I needed her, she made sense. I was happier when she was in my life, even if it was for a limited time.

“What else do you know mother?”

“Ohh not much, he is on his way back now and we are preparing some bedrooms for the trainers. It might get a bit crowded around here. Fingers crossed” she whispered the last bit and walked out.

“Brother what are you doing?” I said to myself.

Why was he bringing an army here, trainers and more wolves?

I was awoken by the roar of cars and howling. The soundproof walls in my bedroom didn’t work as I would usually sleep with my windows open. The howl was as though a dog was on the property, it must have been the pups training. I couldn’t help but think of Reya, even a small howl reminded me of Lily and her life.

I jumped in the shower and got dressed, I needed some breakfast to fuel me for whatever Kilian had planned.

“All warriors be ready for training on the field in 30 minutes”. That mind link didn’t reveal much but I knew I should get a bigger breakfast than what I was thinking about. Usually training mind links came from Seth as the Beta, this one came from Kilian himself.

I walked down a flight of straight and Steelix wouldn’t let me take another, fingers were turning into claws and my canines were coming out. I dropped onto the next landing.

STEELIX WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU!

DOGS !

WHAT?

I CAN SMELL DOGS, WE ARE BEING ATTACKED BY DOGS.

I tired to calm him down and take back control, I had to think of the one thing that made me calm as well, Lily. The way she laughed and the way she danced in my arms. After a while my canines retracted and my breathing normalised.

Right okay, I have no idea what that was but have you completely lost your mind?!

We are being attacked by dogs.

We are not being attacked by dogs you i***t…

I was about to carry on when I heard a dog barking behind me, I around and I was met with a woman with a Husky on a leash.

“Umm hi?” I said awkwardly “Can I help you?”

TRAITOR! Steelix scolded me from the inside.

“Nahh I’m good thanks” she turned around, walked down the corridor and entered a room that was previously unoccupied.  Her crimson hair bounced as she walked away from me

She’s on her own kill her and no one will now, and then you can stuff her dog!

“Lucas!” I saw Kilian approaching me.

“Ummm, have you just seen what I saw? There’s a husky in the Estate”.

“Get used to it. Listen I need you to keep an eye of Father he might not be so happy about the changes I’m about to make” he tapped me on the shoulder and carried on walking down the stairs.

Another woman walked up with another husky who also growled at me, as she gripped onto the leash I saw the tattoo on her arm. The same tattoo that Lily had.

That’s when it hit me!

“if you have the Daughters on your side, you are untouchable”.

The Elder was right, Kilian needed the best trainers and the Daughters were the best there was.

She must be here, she had to be!

I started walking up and down the corridor ticking off every door. I remembered where each Daughter went and which dog she had. There were only a few doors which weren’t opened yet. I must have looked like a weirdo just staring at them all.

I had to choose a door, any door.

The first one was  a mistake I was met with an angry Daughter who shut the door in my face.

When I went to the next door, I had to knock a few times whoever was on the other side didn’t want to open. Finally I saw the door open.
