Undefeated Daughter

20. A warning

Lucas POV: 

Back at Marble I had to attend a council meeting but I couldn’t get Lily out of my head, how her moans made me hard, how she got wet for me, she was physically getting ready for me and I couldn’t do anything.

During the meeting Kilian told us that the fledglings indeed died when Felicity killed Austin, the guy who she met at the club. Dracula wasn’t in the US yet but now with his army generals dropping like flies he was definitely going to hurry up. We needed to train more effectively.

When I went back to my room I had to go past the Daughters floor, it was filled with laughter and cheering, they were happy about the training and the progress were making, it made me smile that at a time like this there was some happiness.

I entered my room and I realised I wasn’t on my own, my ears picked up  breathing I the corner, I wasn’t going to panic and Steelix was still calm.

“You can come out” I said to whoever was in the corner.

“What is your deal Lucas?” I heard Poppy’s voice in the corner. Her face came out of the shadows and I knew she wasn’t in a wind-up mood.

“What do you mean?” I asked as I took my blazer off.

“You and Lily”.

“Lily, the blonde girl right?” I asked.

“Don’t play dumb. You are always watching her; your wolf is always calm around her and she saved you from the vampires” she stood up and walked towards me.

“Well would you do me a favour? Thank her for me I didn’t realise she saved me”

“Alpha Lucas, she is a Daughter of the Mother. She lives to serve and you will not take her from that Path. The Moon Goddess did not make her your mate, your mate is out there and you are falling for a Daughter. Fury warned you that you will be beheaded if you even look at a Daughter the wrong way”. How did she know how Steelix felt around Lily?

“If you think that I have anything to do with Lily why did you send me to Packs with her? Why did you allow it?”

“To test you… and you failed. Lucas she is weak and she has always been, she doesn’t need you messing with her. You need to defend Marble and start your own Pack”. Poppy’s eyes turned white and I knew she was supernatural. I grabbed her by the throat and  threw her across the room.

“WHAT ARE YOU?!” I screamed at the body lying in the corner.

“Nothing happens to the Daughters without my knowledge! Sarah knows everything!”.

“WHO THE f**k AFRE YOU!” I approached her body again but it disappeared. “A WITCH ! You’re a witch !”.

“HAAAA you wish, I would be easier to kill. Lucas I’m warning you” she opened the door and her white eyes disappeared. When she closed the door I grabbed my phone and looked for Matthew’s number.

“Hey Matt I need your help”

“Lucas do you know what time it is” he sounded tired.

“Matt who has white eyes?” I asked.

“What ?I don’t know dead people?”

“MATT! FOCUS!” I needed him to take this seriously.

“Umm let me think, green, red, purple  are usually witches, wolves have normal and you even said it yourself that the new vampires have white eyes”.

“No, I mean bright white like a sheet of paper, the vampires had a dirty ashy white”.

“In some old books it said that old spirits would take a person’s body to protect them”.

“So, Ghosts?” great Poppy had a ghost which was protecting the Daughters, she probably wasn’t even aware.

“Not really, it must have been a person with Old Power”.

“Like Sarah or the Moon Goddess herself?”

“Yeah I guess, Lucas what is this about?”

“Nothing, you’ve been great help thank you”.

Old Power is protecting the Daughters and I cannot even be around Lily. I screamed in frustration and flipped the table over. I was so close to getting her, the world was against me and she was out of my reach.

KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK

I went to open the door and I was met with her beautiful green eyes. She pushed me inside the room and shut the door behind her. I moved away I wasn’t sure if this was a trick from Poppy.

“Lucas we need to talk…. What happened here?” she looked at the flipped table.

“I umm… tripped and landed on the table” I scratched the back of my head trying to think if that excuse was good enough.

“Please?” she said as she sat down in one of the chairs.

“Okay?”

“Please don’t challenge me” she was twiddling with her thumbs.

“Why not?” I asked sitting down.

“Because if you do I will lose. Lucas I feel like you are there for me whenever I need you. In New York you were my friend, probably my first friend ever and the things you have shown me since them were beautiful. The things you say are beyond what I ever imagined anyone say to me. I cannot be defeated. Please don’t do it, I’m scared” her hands were not trembling, I moved my chair next to hers.

“What are you scared of beautiful?”.

“I’m sacred to be yours. You have a Luna out there and I’m just a human”

“You’re not just  a human. You are strong, beautiful, and determined, let’s not forget the constant insults you throw my way but you are more than just a human. You are a Daughter” I lifted her head with my hands and cupped her face. The taste of her lips was salty from her tears but that didn’t stop me from leaving a soft kiss on them. “And that is what you are going to be Lily, you will be a Daughter” her green eyes looked up at me.

“So you wont…”

“I won’t challenge you. I know its not what you want”

She leaned over and wrapped her hands around my neck, she never hugged me before but I wasn’t going to stop her.

“Thank you” she got up and was ready to leave, if this was going to be the last night I would spend time with her I didn’t want it to end.

“Stay?” I said quietly.

“What?”

“Just stay the night, I won’t do anything, I just want you here”. It was the truth I would stay up all night just to be with her.

“Okay”

I picked her up and walked over to the bed, her small head resting on my chest. As I laid her down on my bed, I realised that I wanted her for all the nights to come, she belong in my bed. I laid next to her and started stroking her head.

“Tell me about yourself” I said.

“You know everything” she snuggled into the pillow.

“Why do you think you will lose if I challenge you?”

“Because I don’t want to hurt you”

“Why?”

“Moon Goddess….. Lucas you are the reason why we have instruction on toothpaste” she let out a small laugh.

“Why?” I repeated my question. “Why don’t you want to hurt me?

“Because I care about you”

“Lily please”

“I might love you but I don’t know what love is. But Fury always said that love is when you care and trust someone. I trust my sisters and I care about them. I care about you and for some reason even though you’re a wolf I trust you so…”

“So you love me” I finished her sentence.

“But I can’t” she hid her face in my chest.

“I know” I stroked her back.
