The Moonshadow Pack lands were too quiet.
Not the peaceful kind of quiet, but the heavy kind—the kind that settled in your bones and made your wolf pace.
I stood on the balcony outside my office, overlooking the training yard as the first light of morning bled into the treetops. Warriors were running drills below, but even their movements felt wrong. Tighter. Sharper. Distracted.
They’re unsettled, my wolf murmured, low in the back of my mind. They feel what you feel.
“I know,” I muttered under my breath.
I couldn’t shake it.
The air itself felt… off. The forest tree line just beyond the training fields pulsed faintly with energy my eyes couldn’t see but my instincts couldn’t ignore.
