Chapter 28: A “date” canceled

We started walking and Andrew asked me

“Can I see you later at your house?” he waited for my answer, I stopped and looked him straight to his eyes.

“I will be outside just after sunset” I said

“So late?” he frowned

“It is so hot before that” I said

“Mmmm but then your cousins will come over and they take over the conversation” he sounded displeased.

“Wow those are your friends” I looked at him smirking, I know what he meant.

“Yes, they are but they interrupted every time I try to talk to you, just like Larry”

I started laughing, he stopped and looked at me, like offended.

“Oooohhhh, come on, I am joking” I said and then he did something that almost made me faint because the butterflies went wildly crazy inside my stomach.

He bended over me and held me by my shoulders, he got so close to my face, I was afraid that he will kiss me, oh gosh no, not here, this cannot be my first kiss, but he stopped just a couple of inches away from my lips, he looked at me eyes, so intensely, “I love -“

He stopped talking and kept looking me.

“I love how you make me feel” he just said, and I felt like the happiest person in the whole city, nope, in the whole freaking world, is he really into me?

“Mmmm -“ I tried to answer him with some clever remark but then he placed his right index finger over my lips “Don’t worry, you don’t need to answer me anything, I just wanted to tell you that before someone out of the blue appears and interrupts me again, as usual” he smirked and then moved apart from me.

He is so tall and oh lord so handsome, I am literally frozen here, I cannot move or talk.

Dissimulate Vanessa, do not make a fool of yourself.

“Ok Vanessa, I will see you later, right?”

I tried to compose myself, I nodded yes at him and then started walking away.

“Hey” he yelled and as I looked back at him “goodbye” he waved his hand.

“Oh, goodbye Andrew, I will see you later”

He smiled and nodded yes at me.

I turned back and continued to walk to my house, when I was mid-block, I could not resist anymore and I looked back, there he was, he was still standing in the corner looking how I walked away from him.

He saw me turn to see him, and he waved goodbye again, gosh, what is this?

Is he seriously trying to be my boyfriend?

Could it be possible?

Why me?

From all the girls that are chasing him, why is he doing this to me?

I walked thinking and replaying what just happened, how he got so close to me and how much I wanted to kiss him, but also, I was so scared he would do it, wow this is insane, I do not know how I feel, what is this?

Inadvertently I was in front of my house, apparently, I walked the last block unconsciously, I realized and just walked inside my house.

I got inside and went to my bedroom.

Not even five minutes passed, and my mom walked inside the house asking for us to come to the kitchen.

I answered her “Hi mom, let me change my uniform”

Wow that was close, imagine if Andrew walked me here, she most definitely would find us outside, daaaaamn, I did right to ask him not to walk me here.

I changed my clothes and walked into the kitchen.

I helped my mom setting the table, my younger brother came in and we all sat for lunch.

I did the dishes, gosh I really hate to do the dishes.

I went back to my room, finished my homework and I continued writing questions in my gossip book.

Finally, I finished it, tomorrow I will give it to Larry, and I hope that he will give it as soon as he finishes to Andrew, I am dying to read his answers and to know a little more about him.

My mom came over to my room and told me

“We are leaving in five minutes to your grandmother’s house”

Oh gosh, I cannot go today, Andrew is coming.

“Mom I want to stay”

“No, you are coming with me”

“But mom I have lots of homework”

“You finish your homework later” she said

“Mom, I have a lot of homework, if I don't continue right now, I will not be able to finish it”

“Bring your homework with you”

F uck! when she is like this, nothing can change her mind, f uck.

Damn, Andrew will come here later, and I will be at my abue’s house.

“Let’s go Vanessa” she hollers.

And there I go, completely against my will, daaaaamn it!

Will he get mad at me?

Will he think I did it on purpose?

Oh gosh I want to see him again, so badly.

We walked out of the house, my mom, my little brother, and me.

I was not happy, literally nada.

Andrew told me he would come later as he has done other days, if I knew we will be back sooner I wouldn’t be this angry, but I know that we will return late, probably after 9:00 pm, so that is super late, I will totally miss Andrew’s visit, damn it, why? Why today in particular?

I was walking, following my mom and my little brother, she usually walks to my grandmother’s house trough different streets than me.

I convinced her to take the Main Street after the first two blocks, that is the one I like to walk by every day and is where Andrew’s grandmother’s house is located at. When we were at the corner before turning left to continue walking to my abue’s house, Andrew was coming out of his grandmother’s house, he saw me and widened his eyes, I waved my index finger to him in a ‘no’ motion, he got what I meant, and he asked me ‘when’ with his shoulders gesture, and I nodded no at him, saying I don’t know when I will get back.

He nodded yes, he got it, I guess my face showed a sad look because he then moved his right index forward, like doing circles, which I interpreted as ‘I will see you tomorrow’

I smiled at him and nodded yes.

Thankfully my mom didn’t notice but my little bro, gosh he did, and he was making questioning eyes at me, I just nodded no at him once, twice, thrice, until he finally stopped looking weirdly at me.
