Chapter 25: That went sour...

I got home, I left my things in my bedroom, took off my school uniform and waited for my mom to eat lunch with her.

In the meantime, I started with my homework, today I have lots of homework, it looks like all the other teachers decided to make my life harder, specially today from all the days...

I just remembered the little piece of paper that Andrew gave me today, I just threw it inside my backpack when the teacher approached us and told me to leave.

He acted surprisingly nice today, he went to pick me up at my classroom, asked the teacher for the line that I forgot, he was great today, after everything that happened, he was great.

I take everything out of my backpack looking for the little note, oh, that’s weird, there are two pieces of papers, how is that?

Oh, that’s right, I was so mad that I totally forgot about that message.

Should I read it now? 

Well, I have to, I am not sure which is today’s message, and which is the older one.

I opened the first piece of paper and I read ‘if being in detention with you is the worst punishment Olivas came up with, I think it will have opposite effects in my behavior’

So, this is today’s message, gosh I feel nervous about the other one, not sure I want to read.

Ok F uck it, let’s do this.

I took the second piece of paper and unfolded it.

It was a bit larger piece of paper and Andrew wrote

-‘Vanessa, I need to talk to you and explain you what you saw yesterday, it was all a misunderstanding, please give me a chance to explain myself and clarify this, I don't want you to think badly about me, please, give a chance, I promise that if you don't believe me, I will stop bothering you. Can I go to your house today?’

Oh, that’s why he came here that afternoon, with a silly excuse but he came.

I wanted to go out to see if Andrew would come, but I have so much homework to do that I forgot the time, totally.

I heard a knock on the door, I stood up and went to open it.

There he was, so handsome “Are you not coming out today?” He asked me

“I am doing homework, I have a lot, but I am almost done” I explained as I walked out of the house to sit on the steps of my house.

He looks calm, I want to hug him or something, he looks so good.

“How did you get home? everything alright?” he asked

“Yes, all the way back was normal, hey but what happened with you, for how long did you stay there? I was absolutely surprised that he made you stay” 

“Nah it just took me like ten more minutes, and I finished the twenty missing lines” he said smiling with his beautiful smile, oh those lips look so kissable “I think he did it to avoid us to walk together in our way out of school” he said studying me

“Huh I thought about that, about any logical reason for doing that, but why would the teacher Olivas try to make us apart? makes no sense, right?” I replied at his comment

“Not sure, maybe he is in love with you” he started laughing after saying his crazy statement

“Are you crazyyyy???? seriously? what is going on in that head of yours, don't say nonsense please Andrew” I replied at his silly comment with a serious tone, gosh no way.

“I love the way my name sounds when you say it” he said and made me blush

“Oh, come on be serious”

“I am being serious, why don't you believe me?” he got closer, he left just a little space left between us, I felt my heart racing and my hands sweating, I am getting nervous, I think.

We stayed like that for some time when my cousin Jake arrived and made us separate quickly, I feel my face hot again, why? I am not usually the type of person that blush so easily.

“Hey Vane, what are you doing? Hey Andy, what’s up?” Jake asked us

“Oh, I am great” I answered Jake

“All good Jake, I just came to see Vanessa” he said, and Jake looked at me with his eyes wide open as a sign of his surprise.

“Are you two boyfriend and girlfriend?” then he asked

“No no no, we just got detention together at school” I said but I observed a disapproval frown on Andrew’s forehead.

“We were talking after the recess ended and the owner’s son gave us a one hundred lines punishment for being out of our classrooms” Andrew said making Jake open his eyes again

“Why were you out of the classrooms?” Jake asked, apparently Andrew did it on purpose and Jake caught it

“Mmmm we-” 

“I asked her to wait with me because I was asking her some questions.” Andrew interrupted me and answered Jake’s question. 

This is like a ping pong game, and I am just looking at Andrew and Jake talking back and forth.

Then we hear noises coming, of people talking and bicycles riding.

I looked up to see Ralph and Alex coming to us.

“Hey cous what are you doing?” Alex asked me

“What? Andrew when did you get here?” Ralph asked him with a serious look

“I arrived few minutes ago” he said but Jake contradicted him

“Not really, he has been here for over twenty minutes”

“That’s not true, you arrived almost after him, and you just arrived” I said trying to defend us

My three cousins gave a strange glare, f uck this is uncomfortable to be honest.

“I didn't see you after classes Andy, where were you?” Ralph asked him

“I got detention today” he said

“Yes, with Vanessa” Jake added, why is he being so nosy and gossipy, just shut up for once.

Ralph and Alex looked at me and then at Andrew

“I see” Ralph said but looked not so happy to hear about that

“And why did you get detention?” Alex asked

“The owner’s son saw us outside our classrooms and gave us one hundred lines for that” Andrew said, and I just nodded

“He is so stuck up” Ralph said “Wait, he found you and then you, out of your classrooms?” he didn't buy it, we will need to say it correctly, f uck.

“Not exactly” I managed to say

They all looked at me and then to Andrew and waited for a better explanation.

“We were talking after recess in the backyard, and he found us there” he just said all, damn it, now what

“Did you stay after Erased went up to your classroom?” Ralph asked looking serious, why is he being so harsh on us.

“I was talking to Andrew, it was like one or two minutes and then Mr. Olivas came and didn't let it pass, it was nothing” I said trying to ease the heaviness feeling, floating in the air.

“Yes, he overreacted there and also after classes” Andrew said, oh come on, don't put more wood on the fire

“What do you mean?” Jakes asked

“Long story short, he let this lady go without finishing her one hundred lines and made me stay until I finished all of them, that is pure discrimination, right?” Andrew said and I just laughed at his remark

“Not quite accurate, maybe because I was just missing eleven, while you were twenty” I said, still having a big smile.

“Potato, potahto” he said, I stuck my tongue out at him, he just laughed.

“Awwww” Alex said, he pulled me out of wherever I was, it was a warm place and he just snapped me out to reality.

“What?” Andrew questioned Alex

“You two look cute” Alex said what I was dreading to hear, are they implying we are together?

“Ah We- mmm I-” I tried to say something, but nothing came out of my mouth

“Of course, we look cute, don't you see how beautiful your cousin is?” Andrew made it worse, I swear he is killing me.

“Hey, calm down tiger” Ralph said, raising his voice a little.

“I am calmed, you calm down Ralph” Andrew said getting a serious tone

“Ok guys relax please, always a pleasure to see  you all, but I need to go inside because I have lots of homework to finish” I cut them off, while standing to get inside.

Andrew stood up quickly and got closer to me, he made me flinch and he saw me, then just extended his arm to give his hand.

I took his hand, and we shook it “I will see you tomorrow, I am glad you came home with no issues this afternoon” he said smiling at me, it was great but also uncomfortable because three of my cousins are watching us, analyzing every move, bunch of creeps.

“Yes, thanks, see you tomorrow” I answered him

“Bye guys” I said looking at my cousins and I just went inside, I didn't wait for them to leave, I felt embarrassed enough and I can't take it anymore.

All this nice visit went sour when Ralph started acting weird at Andrew.
