Chapter 21 Too Close to Home That night the pub was slow, so I’d sent everyone home. A storm had rolled in with its igniting clouds and angry thunder. I sat with a bottle of Jack Daniels at the bar listening to the rain under the gentle candlelight. Often during thunderstorms, we’d lose our electricity. You’d think since storms were a constant pastime around here, the town would repair the grid. No harm done. I had only a couple of customers leaving. Since Witch Haven practically sat on the bayou banks, flooding roadways were as common as bugs buzzing in the trees.
