Chapter 24 Spittin’ Nails The butler drove Lafitte and me home the next morning. We were offered breakfast, but I politely declined. I think the honeymoon stage had passed. As reality started to settle, I suspected Damián was finally getting the hint. I’d reminded myself over and over, getting close to the assignment was foolish. When the creature was dealt with, my relationship would end with the brothers. Whether John ordered a hit on the brothers or not, I’d never see them again.
