Summons
The pub flourished with liquor and permeated with clamorous laughter and thrumming music. The contestants, male and female, were lining at the entrance. Twenty bucks at the door, all proceeds donated to the local hospital. It was for a new children’s wing.
It made my heart sing with joy as I saw several Marilyn Monroe look-alikes with big blonde hair wigs and dressed in a rainbow of colors such as blue, green, yellow, and white. They all wore thick eyelashes with bright red lipstick and crooked smiles. This light-hearted event was for a good cause. What could be better than helping children? I think the whole town and a couple of towns over showed up for the Beauty Pageant.
