And with that, the room erupted into chaos.
“What do you mean, your Fiance?” Alexandra asked.
“That's exactly what you heard, now if you would please excuse me….i would like to have a talk with her.” Raymond said to the girl.
She turned to me, if looks could kill, I should be dead by now. She stormed out of the living room back to the room where she came from—no doubt Raymond’s room.
With Alexander exit, it brought back the awkward air.
“What’s your name?” I heard him ask after a while.
“Hmmmm…Suzan Carter.” I responded.
He leaned into his chair, “Suzan, let me make one thing clear. This sham called marriage would only work if you mind your business. The contract is between you and my mum and not me. You are only allowed to stay here and not less. My personal life is not your business and you would not talk to the press without my permission, is that understood?”
My head bowed in fear, “Yes…..”
He stood up from his chair and walked towards me, “let me make this very clear, Suzan, you are mine now and I would tell you what to do and how to do it. You sold your freedom for a couple of dollars.”
I could feel the weight of his words on my mind, truly I am no longer a free girl but at least my mum has been taking care of.
“Johnson would show you to your room, do not disturb my son, he is having his nap. He has his personal nanny and teacher, you don’t have to associate with him. I don’t need him to get attached to you, are we clear?“ his instructions came out
“Yes sir…..” I responded with tears in my eyes.
“Good, you can leave.”
“Miss, this way.” Johnson said to me and I followed him, glanced back to see Raymond glaring at me.
“I can do this,” I said to myself in encouragement.

The next morning
I heard a knock on the door and I got up, lazily, to open it. Johnson stood in front of the door with a lady.
“Good morning, Miss Callahan.” He greeted me with a smile.
“Hmmm, Johnson, is it?” I asked and he nodded, “I am not yet married, but you can call me Suzan.” I told him but I could see he felt uncomfortable with it.
“Hmmm….okay, ma'am.”
“Suzan…” I corrected
“Suzan.”
I gave him a slight smile, “So….what’s the problem, it’s seven in the morning.”
“Sorry for disturbing but you have a lot to do. This is Jesse, your personal assistant but in the office and at home.” He introduced me to the girl who gave me a cute smile.
“Like you are to the master?” I asked, afraid to speak his name.
“Yes…” He handed me a bunch of keys and a black card, “These are the keys to the penthouse and the office. The black card is for your daily expenses, it has a limit of one million dollars per day.”
With the call of the amount, I choked on the air I was breathing, as I coughed really loud. Johnson and the girl tried to console me as I tried to stabilize myself.
“Sorry about that….but that's too much. What am I spending a million dollars per day for?”
Johnson shrugged, “not sure but that's what the master said.”
“He ordered this?”
“Yes ma….sorry, Suzan. Anyways, your personal car and driver would be waiting to take you to work and Jesse here would help get you ready. Is there any question?” he asked and I shook my head.
“Great….have a nice first day.”
I watched as Johnson walked away, feeling a mix of emotions. I was still trying to wrap my head around the million-dollar daily expense limit. What could I possibly need that much money for?
Jesse, my new personal assistant, smiled at me. "Don't worry, Suzan. I'll help you get used to all of this. Shall we get you ready for work?"
I nodded, still feeling a bit dazed. Jesse led me to a massive walk-in closet, filled with designer clothes and shoes. I gasped in shock.
"Welcome to your new wardrobe," Jesse said with a smile. "Mr. Callahan has spared no expense in making sure you have everything you need."
I felt a pang of guilt, thinking about the contrast between my old life and this new one. But I pushed the thoughts aside, focusing on the task at hand.
With Jesse's help, I got dressed in a stunning black dress, complete with a pair of Louboutin heels. I looked in the mirror, barely recognizing the person staring back at me.
"You look amazing," Jesse said, beaming with pride.
I smiled, feeling a sense of gratitude towards her. "Thanks to you."
We headed downstairs, where a sleek black car was waiting for me. The driver, a tall, imposing man with a kind smile, greeted me.
"Good morning, Miss Suzan. I'm Marcus, your driver."
I smiled, feeling a sense of comfort with him. "Nice to meet you, Marcus."
As we drove to the office, I couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement. What would this new life bring? And what secrets lay hidden beneath the surface of the Callahan empire?
The car pulled up to a sleek, modern building, with the C-Empire logo emblazoned on the side.
"Welcome to C-Empire," Marcus said, opening the door for me.
I took a deep breath, steeling myself for what lay ahead. It was time to face whatever challenges this new life would bring.
As I stepped out of the car, I felt a sense of trepidation. The building loomed above me, its sleek glass and steel façade seeming to gleam with a sense of power and sophistication.
Marcus handed me a small folder containing my ID badge and a few other documents. "You'll need these to get through security," he explained.
I took the folder, feeling a sense of gratitude towards him. "Thanks, Marcus. I don't know what I'd do without you."
He smiled, his eyes crinkling at the corners. "You'll do just fine, Miss Suzan. Just remember, if you need anything, don't hesitate to ask."
I nodded, taking a deep breath as I stepped into the building. The lobby was sleek and modern, with a large reception desk at the far end. A security guard looked up as I approached, his eyes narrowing slightly as he took in my ID badge.
"Welcome, Miss Suzan," he said, his voice neutral. "You're clear to go through."
I nodded, feeling a sense of relief as I walked through the security checkpoint. The elevator doors slid open, revealing a sleek, modern interior. I stepped inside, feeling a sense of trepidation as the doors closed behind me.
The elevator stopped on the top floor, and I stepped out into a luxurious office suite. A receptionist looked up, her eyes widening slightly as she took in my ID badge.
"Miss Suzan, welcome," she said, her voice warm. "Mr. Callahan is waiting for you."
My heart skipped a beat as I followed her to a large, ornate door. She knocked twice, and a low, gravelly voice bade us enter.
I took a deep breath, feeling a sense of trepidation as I pushed open the door. And that's when I saw him - Raymond Callahan, sitting behind his massive desk, his eyes fixed intently on me.
But it was what he was holding in his hand that made my heart skip a beat. A small, leather-bound book, with a single word embossed on the cover - "Suzan".
My eyes met his, and I felt a shiver run down my spine. What did he know? And what did he want from me?
And then, just as I was about to find out, his phone rang, shrill and insistent. He picked it up, his eyes never leaving mine.
"Yes?" he growled, his voice low and menacing.
And then, his expression changed. His eyes narrowed, his jaw clenched, and his face went white with rage.
"What do you mean, she's gone?" he thundered, his voice echoing through the room.
I felt a shiver run down my spine as I realized that something was very, very wrong. And I was right in the middle of it.
