s**t! How could this be happening so fast? Trevor just found his mate. I know that Wyatt's biggest fear is already starting to come true, but I didn’t think that it would be on our first night here. I was hoping for some time, before it started coming true.
I quickly wrap my arm around Wyatt's waist and I softly whisper, “Wyatt baby, Mike and I are still here. We aren’t going anywhere.”
My heart immediately begins to sink as I can hear a faint whimper. Wyatt slowly begins to tremble all over, and I know that he is afraid that Mike and I will be next.
Mike wraps his arm across mine and around Wyatt's waist, as he softly coos, “Babe, don’t worry. We aren’t going anywhere tonight. We will be right here next to you.” Mike then lays his head on Wyatt's shoulder.
Still trembling, Wyatt lays his head on my shoulder. He softly whispers, “Whatever happens, just stay with me tonight.”
Oh, Wyatt is really scared. He has never asked for us to stay with him before. This is a first and I have to say that I’m happy. Really happy.
In unison, Mike and I chime, “Of course.” I quickly add, “We will continue to be by your side. Don’t worry, baby.”
One of the Max’s engineering friends asks, “What just happened?”
Another engineering student slaps him upside the head. “What do you think just happened? Max finally found his mate. He thought that he was never going to find him. Who knew that his mate was living so far away from him?” He slowly turns towards us and introduces himself. “Hi, everyone. I’m Mark and this i***t next to me is Ted.”
Another guy waves his hand and chimes, “Hi. I’m Samuel and this is my mate Chris. He is also another engineering student.” Samuel puts his arm around Chris and pulls Chris closer to him. However, Chris isn’t so happy and immediately pushes Samuel away.
Mark points towards Samuel and Chris. “Just ignore them. They are like this all the time. You will get used to it sooner or later. No matter how much they fight and bicker, they always end up being all lovey dovey to each other by the end of the night.”
I smile at Samuel and Chris who are now playfully bickering with each other. I can tell by the look in Chris's eyes that he is actually loving this, but he doesn’t say it. Instead, he gives off this grumpy and irritated look which Samuel seems to just love.
Mark and Ted sit down at our table while Samuel and Chris continue to playfully bicker with each other.
Shane quickly begins the introductions. “I’m Shane and this is my wife and mate, Dee. She is also pregnant, so she won’t be drinking any alcohol tonight.” Shane drapes his arm around Dee and gently kisses her cheek.
Dee nods. “Hi.”
Shane continues, “Max’s mate is Mike's beta and his name is Trevor. I’m sure that we will be seeing a lot of each other going forward.”
I proceed next. “I’m Ford, and Shane is my beta. This beautiful guy next to me is Wyatt.”
Mike raises his hand. “I’m Mike and like Shane said earlier, Trevor is my beta. Well, right now, he is Max’s mate and nothing else.”
Ted smiles and chimes, “Nice to meet you.”
Samuel and Chris stop bickering and sit down at the table. Samuel smiles. “I agree. It is nice to finally get to meet you guys. We have been getting ready for you.”
Chris tilts his head and looks at Mike, Wyatt and me. He slowly raises his finger and points towards me and then slowly moves to Wyatt and then Mike. Tentatively, he asks, “Are all three of you mates? None of you have been marked.”
I smile and look lovingly at Wyatt and then at Mike. “Well, that is kind of a long story, but you can call us unmarked mates at this point.”
Samuel raises an eyebrow. “What do you mean by that?”
Ted quickly adds, “I’m lost.”
Mark chuckles and shakes his head. “I’ll explain everything to you later. Just listen and try to understand what is going on. Okay.”
Ted nods his head. “Okay.”
Before I can answer, Wyatt explains. “I’m afraid that I won’t be able to find my mate, and I’ve been close with Ford and Mike for years, so we made an agreement that if we didn’t find our mates by a certain age then we will claim each other and become mates officially. However, I have to give them time to make sure that they can’t find their true mates.”
Chris looks at Wyatt and frowns. “You’re upset that Trevor just found his mate. Aren’t you? You are worried that Ford and Mike will be next and that you will be left all alone.”
How does he know? Did someone tell him?
Wyatt closes his eyes and I can feel my shoulder get wet. Dang it. He is crying again. I can’t stand to see him cry.
I gently kiss the top of his head as Wyatt nods.
Confused, Mike looks at Chris. I’m sure that Mike is wondering the same thing that I am. How did he know?
Chris smiles at Wyatt. “I was in the same boat. I didn’t find Samuel until a year ago when I transferred to this university. I hadn’t gone as far as you and actually had an agreement with a couple alphas to be their mate if they don’t find a true mate, but I was going through all those same emotions. Don’t worry and give it time. Who knows, maybe coming to this university will allow you to find your mate too.”
Wyatt shakes his head. “It isn’t going to be that easy, but I hope you are right. I have a feeling that these two will find their mates here which means that I’ll be left all alone.”
Oh, my heart is breaking. Wyatt sounds so hurt and scared. I just want him to feel better, but I don’t know how to do that.
Before either Mike or I could say anything, Samuel chimes, “By the looks on Ford and Mike's face, I don’t think that you will have to worry about ever being alone, even if they find their true mates. I can see that they have too much love for you to leave you alone.”
I quickly chime, “Yes, we do. We have told him repeatedly that we aren’t ever going to leave him, but he just isn’t listening.”
Ted shakes his head. “I’m still confused. What is going on?”
We all chuckle as Mark pats Ted’s shoulder and chimes, “I told you to just listen and that I’ll explain everything to you later. Now, be a good boy and do what you are told.”
What is wrong with this guy? He clearly can’t be that stupid or he would have never been able to get into this college. The college only takes the best of the best, so Ted must be really good with his studies or he wouldn’t have made it here.
As I look at Ted wondering how he can’t understand any of this, Mark leans towards me and whispers, “He is human and doesn’t believe in werewolves, so I have to explain things in a manner that he will understand. I’m amazed that after everything that he has seen that he still doesn’t believe in werewolves, but we just let him stay in his little world. We don’t want to scare him off. He is actually a really nice guy.”
Oh, now I understand. I mind link with the others at the table and let them know what Mark said. They all agree to refrain from talking about any werewolf stuff.
Samuel pipes up and asks, “I don’t remember seeing Wyatt or Shane’s name on the list as new engineering students. Are you two not engineering majors?”
Shane shakes his head. “No. Both Wyatt and I are business majors, but we are always with them.”
Chris turns and looks at Dee. “So how far along are you?”
Dee smiles and looks down at her stomach. She isn’t showing yet, but we know that she will be shortly. She smiles and lovingly rubs her belly, as she happily replies, “Only several weeks, but I can’t wait.”
Shane proudly smiles and kisses Dee’s check. “Our first baby and I couldn’t be prouder.”
Chris asks, “So, do you have a doctor around here yet? If not, I’m sure that I could help you find one.”
Dee looks up and shakes her head. “Wyatt's father is supposed to be finding me a good doctor around here, so I don’t have to drive all the way back to our hometown. I’m sure that he will find the best in the area.”
Mark chimes, “You aren’t living in the dorms with a baby, are you?”
I chuckle and shake my head. “No. We live in a house off campus, so having a baby won’t be interfering with any other students except for us who are living there.”
Mike quickly adds, “Well, the little guy shouldn’t disturb us too much. Wyatt's father had all the bedrooms soundproofed, so the baby shouldn’t wake us up in the middle of the night.”
Ted suddenly exclaims, “What the heck? Who are your families that they would soundproof your bedrooms? Or, my I add, be able to get a house that has enough bedrooms for all of you to live together. That is what I’m hearing right, that you all live in the same house?”
Wyatt slowly lifts his head off my shoulder. We had promised not to tell anyone who we are, unless we feel comfortable and we believe that they are truly going to keep our secret. However, I don’t know if this group is there yet, but I don’t think that I’m going to have a say in the matter.
Wyatt clears his throat. “Ford, Mike and I are the three heirs to the three wealthiest families in Thailand. Our families make sure that we are well taken care of and that nothing happens to us.”
Well, I guess our secret has been revealed. I might as well tell everything. I clear my throat and I sit up a little straighter. “Let me formally introduce ourselves. I’m Ford Kreepolrerk and the sole heir to Kreepolrerk Industries. This is Wyatt Pinnirat. His family owns Pinn Company and several other Pinn divisions. Last, but not least, is Mike Khemmonta. His family owns KV Enterprises. So, you can say that our families made sure that we have everything and that includes our friends.”
The table goes completely silent as I look around at the shocked faces. This is one of the reasons why we don’t say anything. Another reason is that some people think that they can try to manipulate us or convince us to help them since are we are both wealth and the next alphas to the largest and strongest packs in the country.
Chris is the first one to break the silence. “So, that is why you made the arrangement to become each other’s mates if you can’t find your true mates. Now, I completely understand. However, I still have one lingering question. Why is it so important for Wyatt to have mates? He is an alpha after all, and he can pick whoever he wants.”
Oh, I wish it was that simple. However, we can’t reveal that secret. That one needs to stay hidden for a little while longer. I’m hoping that if we find our mates, that Wyatt is able to find his too. The hard part is going to be to get him to kiss his mate to break the spell.
Mike softly mumbles, “He has his reasons.”
Well, that is a good response. Actually, I think it is perfect.
Shane raises his beer bottle and happily chimes, “Let’s celebrate. The engineers missed out on our toasts earlier to the new baby.”
Dee chuckles and grabs her water bottle.
Chris smiles and nods his head. “Let’s celebrate. Not only for the baby, but also to Max and Trevor for finally finding each other.” He looks at Wyatt and adds, “Don’t worry. You will find your mate too.”
I can feel Wyatt tense up a little in my arms. Both Mike and I give him a quick peck on his cheeks, before all three of us raise our glasses to begin the celebration.
