Chapter 3 - Mike

I know Wyatt is scared.  Shoot, both Ford and I are scared too.  We don’t have any idea what is going to happen when we go to the new university and if Wyatt's hunch is correct, we will maybe find our true mate.  I can’t lie and say that my wolf isn’t happy, but he is also scared.  He loves Wyatt too much to ever just let him go.

Ford and I have talked about this the last several days.  We can sense that Wyatt is scared and afraid of us leaving him for our mates.  However, we need to make sure that he knows that that will never happen.  Regardless if we find our mates or not.  Well, some things will change.  We won’t be able to be intimate with each other again.  We will only do that with our true mate.  He knows that is just one of the changes that will happen going forward.  However, I don’t have a crystal ball and I can’t tell him what the future holds.  We will all have to face it together when it happens. 

I look over at Ford and I can see that he is just as worried as I am about Wyatt. 

Ford keeps taking glances at the rearview mirror as he drives.  It is going to be a long trip, but with both Ford and I worried about Wyatt, it may just make it even longer.  Luckily, our parents went ahead and had the rest of our cars and motorcycles transported to the university.  The only vehicle that we had left was Ford's SUV which is currently packed to the brim with all of our stuff.  We had put some of our things in the other vehicles, so we didn’t have to get a moving van.  You would have thought that we were actually moving out of our parents’ house instead of just going to college. 

Wyatt was the worst.  He wanted to take all his manga, movies and anything else that he liked, since he felt like he wouldn’t be able to go back Ford's house again.  So, almost everything that was in Wyatt’s room at Ford's house is now loaded up and is going to college with him. 

From the pictures that our parents provided of the house, it is pretty big and there won’t be a problem with having enough room. 

We are fortunate that Shane decided to drive his vehicle too.  I don’t think that there would have been anyway to squeeze in a couple more people into this vehicle.  It would have been really cramped and I know Dee would have been wanting to hurt someone by the time we got to the university.  That was before she was pregnant, but I can only imagine that it will be worse now. 

Plus, with just the three of us in the car, we have plenty of time to talk and enjoy ourselves, even if it is the last time.  NO!  I can’t think like that.  We will continue to do this even if we find our mates. 

I shift in my seat and look back at Wyatt in the back seat.  I happily chime, “So, what should we do to celebrate our first night at the house?  Anyone have any ideas?”

Wyatt sighs.  “I don’t know.  I don’t even know what is there.  Did either of you check out the area?”

Ford glances at the rearview mirror and shrugs.  “Not really.  Some of the engineering guys told us about some of the bars around campus.”

I instantly hop around in my seat.  “Oh, yes.  They said that all the engineers hang out at one particular bar.  Hey, Ford.  Didn’t they ask us to join them?”

Ford perks up and a small smile appears on his face.  “Yes, they did Mike.  The hazing group and several senior engineering students will be there early to setup and get ready for the first years.  Plus, they have to get setup for us.  We have to go through something too.”

Wyatt leans forward and asks, “What kind of stuff?”

Ford shakes his head, as I chime, “Some kind of minor hazing activities.  Ford and I had to do it as part of the hazing team at our old university.”  I turn towards Ford.  “Oh, did they talk to our professor?  Did he explain that we are actually part of the hazing team and that you were supposed to be the head hazer?”

Ford nods his head.  “Yep.  Our professor told me that they talked to him over our break.  He also said that he told them that we are some of the best engineering students that he had this year and that he was really sad that we weren’t going to be his students anymore.”

Wyatt instantly chuckles and quickly jokes, “Oh, Ford, how much did you have to pay him for him to say all those nice words.  I bet it was a lot.”

How dare he say that about us.  We are good students.  We just like to get into fights from time to time, but I think that is part of being an engineer.

Ford immediately clicks his tongue and protests.  “Wyatt, you know I don’t have to pay anyone to say nice things about me.  They do it all on their own.”

I quickly nod my head and proudly announce, “Are you forgetting that both Ford and I are at the top of our grade.  Ford is top while I’m right behind him.  We are good students, who protect what is ours no matter what the cost.”

Wyatt looks at me and chuckles.  “Oh, I remember what it cost.  Should I run through the actual monetary cost that our parents had to pay in order to keep the two of you out of trouble for all the fights that you got into.”

I nearly screech as I huff, “Hey!  That’s not nice.”

Ford shakes his head and softly chuckles.  “Wyatt, are you forgetting that you were right there with us, even though you weren’t even an engineering student?  Oh, I can’t forget Shane was there too.  I don’t know what surprised people more.  That you and Shane were at an engineering fight or that two business majors can fight just as good if not better than most of the engineering department.”

Wyatt quickly chirps, “Don’t forget Dee.  She was there too.”

We all burst out laughing together.  Well, at least we all do everything together, but I don’t think there are many like Dee.  She is so tough and strong and don’t forget, fierce.  I can’t help to wonder what her pregnancy will do to her fighting time.  I’m sure if Shane has his say, he will make sure that she doesn’t fight much now, but Dee is pretty stubborn, so I’m sure it will be a struggle between the two. 

The rest of the car ride to the university remains upbeat and lively.  Ford and I stay away from any conversation that may bring us back to us finding our mates.

As Ford turns the corner, I think that maybe, we are lost.  

I scan the area and hesitantly ask, “Uhm, Ford, are you sure we are in the right area?  These houses are huge, and they all have guards.”

Confused, Ford nods his head.  “According to the address that Wyatt’s father gave me, this is the right direction.”

Wyatt leans up against the back of the front seats and exclaims, “Wow!  These houses are really nice.”

Still looking around, I chuckle, “Knowing Wyatt’s father, he probably wanted us to live in the best house that was here.” 

I can’t believe what I’m seeing.  The houses are just plain huge.  There isn’t any other way to describe them.  I wish I could think of something else, but I can’t.  Well, I guess we won’t have to worry about whether or not we have enough bedrooms.  My parents did tell me that we will all have our own bedroom, but I didn’t think that the house would have quite so many rooms or be so big.  What were our parents thinking when they got us a house like this?

Wyatt chuckles.  “That sounds like something my dad would do.”

Ford nods his head and quickly adds, “Actually, that sounds like something all of our parents would do for us.  Remember we are all the heirs to our packs even if Wyatt is the omega and his mate will be the next alpha for the pack, and our parents just want us to have the best and for us to not worry about anything.”

We all nod in agreement as I mumble, “Yep, it sounds like something they would do.”

Wyatt suddenly points up the road and shouts, “There it is!  I’m sure of it!”

Ford drives towards the largest house on the street and I can’t help but to laugh at it.  Nothing like showing off our wealth by having our parents get the biggest and most expensive house for us to live in while we are at university.  No, scratch that.  This isn’t a house.  It is a huge mansion.  I bet the whole engineering department could live here and still have room for more.  What were our parents thinking?

Ford pulls up to the drive and a guard comes out of the little building and greets us.  “Good afternoon, future alphas.  My name is Paul and if you need anything just let me know.  The staff has been waiting for your arrival.  The transporter arrived this morning with your vehicles and motorcycles and the staff has moved all your boxes and belongings into the house.  However, they are waiting for each of you to pick a bedroom before they move the boxes again.”

Well, that just answered my question of whether we are at the right place or not.  I guess this is our house.

We all reply together.  “Thank you.” 

The guard motions to another person inside the small building as he steps back from our vehicle and the front gate slowly opens up.  I quickly look behind us and Shane’s car has just pulled up right behind us. I glance at them in the side mirror and I chuckle at the shocked expressions on everyone’s face.

I lightly tap Ford's arm.  “Shane just pulled up behind us and I see that the others are just as surprised about the house as we are.”

Ford quickly glances in the side mirror and mumbles, “I’m sure they are.”

Wyatt excitedly spins around in his seat, but before he can try to look back at Shane and the others, Ford pulls forward and heads for the house.

Wyatt immediately whines and pouts, “Hey, I wanted to see too.”

Oh, Wyatt can be so cute sometimes.  I just want to hug him and never let him go. 

Ford pulls up to the front of the house and the staff immediately walk out of the house and form a line waiting for us.  Ford glances into his rearview mirror and softly chimes, “Don’t worry, Wyatt.  I’m sure you will be able to see their shocked expressions right now if you hurry up.”

Before Ford can even finish his sentence, Wyatt giggles and excitedly jumps out of the SUV and is looking anxiously at Shane’s car as it slowly pulls up behind the SUV.  I swear that Wyatt is like a child sometimes, but I love him anyway. 

I chuckle at Wyatt and I slowly get out of the car.  I walk around to Wyatt and I can’t help but to smile at him.  His enthusiasm and excitement are contagious. 

Ford gets out of the car and comes over and stands next to us.  He drapes his arm around Wyatt's shoulders and softly asks, “Are you happy now?”

Wyatt flashes a brilliant smile at Ford and nods his head.  “Yes, very much.”

Shane stops his car and Dee, Trevor, and Shane slowly get out.  All three of them look shocked and I can’t resist, as I quickly chime, “What did you expect from our parents?  You know them.  They never do anything low key.”

Shane glances around the grounds.  “We expected something nice, but we didn’t expect the largest and the best house in the area.  This is crazy.  It is like screaming to everyone that we are rich.”

Wyatt tilts his head and calmly replies, “But we are.”

Ford clears his throat and chimes, “We have a lot to do, so let’s get everything in the house and get our rooms setup.  Maybe later, we can go exploring around the area later.”
