CHAPTER 1: THE REJECTED WOLF

1160 Words
Bella’s POV “I, Maximus Cornell, future Alpha of the White Claw Pack, reject you, Bella Monroe, as my mate and future Luna. I hereby banish you from the pack and declare you a rogue!” The evil man’s words kept ringing in my ears, even when I was trying to limp out of the luxury suite after a dark, beastly night with a stranger. I couldn’t decide who had stripped me of my innocence and pride more- my former, cheating lover or the dark, powerful stranger? All I knew was that I was a rejected and wolfless rogue now. After the rejection and banishment from the pack I had called ‘home’ for the past 18 years, I had no place to go. No one was willing to help me. Maximus made sure that my life was a living misery if I survived. He left no stone unturned. His warriors threw my half-dead body out of the pack’s borders and into a human city pavement to rot in the thunderous rain. I couldn’t remember how I ended up in the beastly stranger’s grip, but all I could remember was forcing my weak legs through the pain of rejection and losing my omega wolf, and then trying to get into my room in a nearby hotel. Unfortunately, I entered the wrong room. “Omega, since you gave me the medicine, you must pay for your sins,” the stranger kept chanting, crushing me under him on the expensive, silk sheets. Tears crawled out of my eyes. What did I do to deserve this? Why was the Moon Goddess punishing me for trying to save my grandfather? A flash of lightning ripped through the dark, stormy sky and I made a wish as the shooting star flew across the window behind the stranger’s back. “Oh, Moon Goddess! Give me the strength to emerge stronger after this.” * * * * * * * I forced open my heavy eyes, and immediately regretted waking up. My body felt on fire. However, I could not afford to stay. I had to flee before the beast caught me again. Gathering my clothes hurriedly from the floor, I slipped them over my bruised, weak, wolfless body, and shot out of the room. Just as the door closed behind me, a familiar, female voice suddenly broke the silence of the hallway behind me. “Mhmm, look who has fallen to the level of serving a 50-year old man? How have times changed? The future Luna is now a rejected rogue and letting 50-year old Arthur toss her all night long. Tsk.” I spun around, stunned. Standing in front of me in high heels and a smug face, was none other than my stepsister- Sophia! What was she doing here? And that is when it clicked me. “Yesterday’s medicine…it was you! It was you!” “Oh, Bella. My sweet, sweet sister,” Sophia used her sugary voice. “You said that you would do anything to save grandpa. Isn’t it?” She innocently batted her eyelashes before revealing her true colours. “Arthur offered me twenty thousand dollars for one night. Don’t you want this money?” She sneered, while fanning her milky white face with a thick wad of money. I grabbed the handle to steady myself. “Father promised me that he would give me the money. He…he promised !” I squeezed out the words out of my mouth somehow. Sophia laughed out loud and gave my shoulder a harsh squeeze. “You are so funny, Bella,” she wheezed. “…and naive. Who do you think made this arrangement?” She gestured towards the beast’s door. “You don’t consider yourself as a part of the White Claw Pack’s Beta family, do you?” No! How could my father do this? Grandpa had welcomed him into the Beta family, and after the older man fell ill, my father inherited his title and estate. How could he not save my grandpa then? My heart quaked at the revelation. It refused to accept the ugly truth. “No! You are lying. How can you say this, Sophia?” “What do you mean by how can you say this? You are nothing, but a weak omega with no mate. You will never get one. The Beta title will be passed on to me, and you will have nothing. You are just the dirt beneath my shoe, just like your pitiful mother. Even our father is ashamed to have a daughter like you. He always wanted a child like me. No wonder he sold you to Arthur without hesitation. You are just a pathetic rag doll. Ugh,” Sophia did not withhold her sharp, vicious tongue. Her mockery slashed every fibre of my heart. I suddenly found it hard to breathe and it felt like the walls of the hotel were closing on me. Betrayal seemed to be written everywhere. I had always known that our father always favoured his second family. Since childhood, he doted on Sophia while his mood always soured around me. However, I never knew that his hatred of me would take things so far as selling me to an old man! I didn’t expect to be just a pawn sacrificed in his game. Stoning my heart, and willing myself to be firm, I coldly said, “Well, congratulations. You have achieved your purpose. Can you give me the money for grandpa’s treatment now?” My grandfather is my only relative now. I had to save him. “Of course, dear sister. Here you are.” Sophia threw less than half the money on my face. “Hurry and treat your grandfather,” she mocked. She watched me squat down and respectfully gather the bills. “This is less than a grand! Not two?” I said, on my knees. Sophia stepped on the last wad of notes and snickered. I just pulled back my hand before it crushed under her pencil heel. “Tut tut,” she clicked her tongue, looking down on me. “That is the price, Bella. If you don’t want this much either, then give grandpa your regards when you tell him that you can’t afford his treatment,” Sophia smirked. “No! I will take it, I will take it,” I gulped down my pride and quickly picked up the money before stumbling out of the hotel. Sophia smiled at the retreating figure. She swiped her card and entered the fateful hotel room. Taking out the well-hidden camera, she frowned when she found out that it was turned off! “Strange, who turned it off?” She wondered before her eyes swept across the room and settled on the man lying in the midst of the silken white sheets on the bed. ‘That is not Arthur!’ She thought, horrified. ‘It is the powerful Lycan King, Sebastian Thunderstorm!!”
