Every day for the rest of the week, Ethan brought me lunch or took me out to lunch. By Friday, I was expecting it. When he brought me back to the office, with the promise of being together in only a few more hours, I was excited and more than ready to leave for the day.
What I wasn’t ready for was a call from school saying Kevin was sick.
I stopped in to Wyatt’s office and told him I had to go. “Get out of here. I hope Kevin feels better. I’ll see you Monday.”
I thanked Wyatt and rushed out. When I got to school, Kevin was throwing up in the nurse’s office.
