Dave looked up from his tablet, his pencil hovering over the chair plan, his expression doing the careful thing it did when he was being talked about and didn’t yet know whether to be worried. “What does that mean,” Dave asked. “About me.” “We don’t know yet,” Cloe said, and she meant it, but her voice came out steadier than she felt. “Dara wants to talk somewhere they can’t see. We need to figure out how to do that safely.” “A video call,” Daniel said. “Encrypted. I use one for source protection all the time. If she’s worried about being watched, this would be the safest option, and fast.” Cloe typed back.
