The night air hit Aniela as soon as she stepped out of the hospital doors, cool and biting, tugging at her jacket and lifting stray strands of hair around her face. Her lungs burned slightly from the quick sprint, heart hammering against her ribs. Huffing and puffing, she leaned against the cold brick wall, letting the tension in her legs ease. Erelah appeared a few steps behind her, her expression sharp but tinged with worry. “Why did you run?” she asked, voice cutting through the crisp night air.
