Persephone was weak from the amount of healing she had needed to do whilst having run from her mate... All while she had dampened her beasts ability to heal with how strongly she had been fighting to keep control in the dazed state. Her beasts wanted to return for their mate. While part of her feared going back towards the Centurion pack house. What if he had left? What if the Centurion Pack knew of what she was capable of as well now, and teamed up with her mate to hunt her down. To cage her?
Trust, clearly, was not her strong point. Even if she had not been fighting her beasts anymore, it was clear that the human side did not expedite their tracking back towards where they had left their mate. Still limping and weak. Xena explained that they had used the mate bond to help heal their mate enough to survive. Were beasts or not - such a fall could easily be fatal. But being strong as she had survived. But Anubis and his human...
Guilt had further consumed her at the realization. She might not want a mate - that did not mean she wished the man dead. That power that had been used had also served to severely hinder her own healing capabilities while it helped give a strong boost to his.
I don't think he'll know how close he truly came to death - Valkyrie whined.
A stabbing pain gripped her heart. That nagging sense of culpability. I wasn't thinking even about myself when I jumped in... Persephone confessed. Though both beasts knew that. Just as she understood her beasts felt a sense of anger towards her because she had that same anger at herself. She had been rash, foolish, and once more acted without thought. That always ended badly.
But she had been panicked. Desperate...
Paying the price for it now... She mused to herself.
You mean we. We. It doesn't tickle for me either - Xena growled grumpily. Her pain was there pain. It was difficult for any one of the souls to shield the others from pain. The bones slowly mended, the for right was worse of all. Leading the large form to limp and avoid putting any weight on the leg. Her lungs still felt ravaged by the water she'd inhaled.
Their nose lowered to inhale. We should shift into our wolf form at least, if not human... Persephone did not wish to be spotted as she was. A large tigress limping through the Canadian wilds.
Human would be naked. You'd get rather cold - Valkyrie pointed out. A growl faded into a whimper as bones changed, only a moment seeming to be the hybird Tiger wolf before finally fully being that of the golden wolf. It did aid slightly to helping heal. But it further drained her energies. Wounded - any shifting only robbed energy. Having shifted already that day from human, to wolf, to tiger to wolf...
It only made everything feel heavier once more.
Nausea assaulted the wolf as the poor creature retched more water and fluids upon the snow blanketed forest floors. Gasping breaths trying to once more gather air into screaming lungs.
A vicious snarl broke through the forest. An acrid stench assaulted her nose. Head snapping as she stumbled to look for the origin of the sound. Meeting massive grey wolf that snarl at her. A group of five around him.
Rogues...
Wounded and tired, even this small number made her worried.
She wasn't used to being worried.
Valkyrie took charge for a moment as her muzzle lifted in a warning howl that pierced the night. Only for it to be cut short as the leading beast slammed into them. A loud whine broke from her muzzle as she fought the attacking rogues. The massive jaws had missed her throat but latched upon her shoulder.
Pain already possessed most of her body, but the large gold wolf did not give in. Teeth and claws swung about. Wolf paws partially shifting to her tiger claws. It was to make her attacks more brutal and deadly together... But her body was battered further. With her waning energies and the loss of blood it was not just a fight against rogues - it was a fight for consciousness. She'd been strong enough still to take down a number of the rogues. But two remained.
But exhaustion and weakness was taking its toll as jaws clasped about her throat. The world turning to black - Claws digging into the attacker...
That was when a familiar black wolf arrived, his own massive maw shutting upon the grey with a force that caused her attacker to let go. Just when another ebony wolf careened into the other in a fury of teeth. It was another wave of panic that had Persephone once more shifting, into that of her human form, hands reaching for her bleeding throat as everything truly turned to black...

What the heck Aly, this chapter is soooo short?!
Sorry not sorry lmfao. I think next chapter should be longer. Think we should be getting some better interactions with these two mates. Maybe Atticus there as well lol.
