THE BIG SURPRISE

Lyon's POV****
I was just having a time alone at home with so much that was going through my head when I had been informed of an emergency meeting.
“I was the managing director, who dare hold an emergency meeting with informing me about it”
I muttered to myself the moment that I had just read through my mail, curious to know what this was about, I began to get dressed.
But I was more stunned when I met Chloe at the door. I had no clue why she was here, but most especially, it was more than difficult for me to wipe the image of her.
She was looking so stunning, more than she ever looked when she was with me. There was a sting of pain in the pit of my stomach when I first set my eyes on her.
I knew that I wanted her back, now she was close yet but felt like she was miles away from me.
As I scurried to the conference hall, I was taken aback to see Chloe standing across the table and next to her was Mr. Richard who had his hand wrapped around her waist, no doubt that she was enjoying the attention judging by the smile that swept through her face.
Mr. Richard stood right there with Chloe, no doubt that he was waiting for everyone to arrive and once he was certain that everyone had settled down, he cracked his throat, drawing all our attention to him.
“Thank you all for being here at such short notice, but this is an emergency and it is paramount that everyone is aware of the new development at the office.”
He paused, his gaze swept into the hall, darting from one person to another. Seeing that he had the attention of everyone with all our gaze fixed at him, he continued.
“First, I want to start by introducing my wife to you. I want you all to meet Mrs. Chloe Jones!”
He announced, the words almost made me groan in fury, Chloe had a wide smile plastered on her face as everyone went ahead to applaud, my jaws were tightened with a frown, even that wasn't how I wanted to be, I just couldn't help the jealousy that was sprawling inside of me.
Once it seemed like everyone had settled down on his first announcement and absorbed it properly, taking into consideration that she was the wife of the boss, Mr. Richard continued again.
“I would also like to inform you all of the new developments in the company, starting today. My wife here is the new managing director of the company!”
His voice broke through and for what felt like forever, there was an awkward silence that swept through the hall.
I froze right there, my fist clenched tightly while I was struggling so hard to contain the rage that was building inside of me.
“What are you saying, that is not possible!” My voice echoed through the hall as I roared, everyone turned their attention to me, their eyes wide open, curious at what I was about to say.
“You have something to say Mr. Lyon?” Mr. Richard asked, even the way he had pronounced my name right now felt disgusting to me.
“I am the managing director of this company, it has been that way for five years, how can you announce someone else without my notice?”
“Your notice?” Mr. Richard scoffed as he stared at me with disbelief in his eyes.
“I am sorry Mr. Lyon, I had no idea that I had to inform you before I can take decisions regarding my company or was there a time we both had this company together?”
A hint of mockery laced around his face as he stared at me like I was an object of mockery.
“No, no boss, that isn't what I mean, I mean I am still the managing director and it is not proper to have two managers at a time”
“I am glad that you are aware of that, which is why you should know that you no longer have the position, rather you are now the deputy managing director”
He announced, I felt my heart grow cold, consumed with pain, one that I never thought that I would ever be able to feel.
This was a company that I had dedicated most of my life to and yet I am told something like this in front of the entire board, and even as my gaze locked with Chloe, I could see that silly smirk that curled around her lips.
She knew that I was in pain, she knew how much this must hurt me, I knew that this was all her plan, Chloe wasn't just back to town, she had come to make me suffer.
“Boss, she is new and has no experience whatsoever with the company, don't you think that such a position is too much for her to handle?”
“That is why you are here, you are going to guide her and teach her everything that she needs to know about the company, but not to forget that she is your boss and as such, you must follow her orders as soon as possible!”
He explained, I lowered my head, flushed with embarrassment, all I wanted was for the ground to open up and swallow me.
“My instructions, is that understood?” He asked, seeing that there was no response from my end.
“Yes Boss!” I responded. Satisfied with my response, he turned around to the board.
“I would also love to inform you all that Mrs. Jones here also have a shared of thirty percent share of the company, making her a major shareholder of the company”
As he announced, this time, there was a loud awe accompanied by loud applause.
Even with the applause that swept through the hall, they all stared at her with admiration.
I could not bring myself to applaud her, I froze right there, my heart torn into tiny pieces as I wondered if this sas karma.
All of my years of hardwork and now it was just about to go down the drain by the same woman that I had hurt in the past, but there was no way that I was going to let that happen.
