Richard's POV****
Even with the applause and uproar that swept through the large conference hall, my gaze was fixed on Lyon, the anger in his eyes was clearly visible yet I could not fathom why.
But more than the expression of anger that lingered on his face, I was more furious at the way he stared at Chloe, there was disrespect and I could not help but gritted my teeth, furiously wondering what was going on.
“Thank you all for having me here, I promise that I would put more effort into this company and making certain that we become the best that everyone would want to partner with and with, and with Mr. Lyon by my side, I strongly believe that we can achieve that”
Chloe had a warm smile on her face while she went ahead with the speech. There was another applaud from the board.
Despite the fact that she had given all credit to him, yet Lyon still maintained a stern expression, making me curious why he was so angry at my woman taking over the position.
The meeting went on with a few other issues that needed to be sorted out, Chloe was able to portray her intelligence to the board, bringing out several suggestions that would help the company grow.
Once the meeting was over, Chloe and I stood outside the office, a silly smile on her face while she stared at me.
“Thank you so much Richard”
“I told you Chloe, stop doing that, you do not get to thank me, because everything belongs to the both of us, I mean whatever it is that I have is also yours”
“I know, yet I still think that you are doing more than enough”
She insisted, but I drifted closer to her and wrapped my arms around her waist.
“And I am telling you, that I haven't done anything yet” I expressed as she giggled, but just then, we were interrupted by Lyon who was standing before us, his fist clenched, his jaws scrunched up into that frown that seem like he wanted to get rid of me.
“Boss, I apologize for interrupting you, but I would like to have a moment with you in your office”
“Sure, let go in” I clutched onto Chloe's arm and was about to go in, Lyon who was following me came to a halt the moment he noticed that there was Chloe joining us.
“What is it Lyon, I thought you wanted to have a word with me?”
“Yes Sir, but if you don't mind, I would like to speak to you alone”
“She is my wife, whatever this is about, she is free to hear it” I insisted, yet there was this determined look on his face, the way that he stared at her, it made me curious and angry at the same time, but I knew that now was not the time for that.
“It's fine Richard” Chloe parted my shoulder gently, a warm smile spread across her lips.
“There are other things that I need to deal with, besides, I still need to meet with the rest of the staffs and gave a brief conversation with them”
Chloe went ahead to explained. one of the qualities about her that I had fallen in love with. She had that ability to understand every situation and not insist on most things that might be inconvenient for others.
“Alright Love, go ahead” I gently placed a soft kiss on her lips, even while I did, I could notice Lyon's gaze intensely at us.
I stood there watching Chloe walk away and as soon as she was out of sight, we both stride inside my office.
“So Lyon, what is it that you needed it so private?” I sat on the large swivel armchair once I had hung my suit at the other side of my office.
“It's about the announcement you made today, I have been incharge for a long while now, and all this while, I have given this company all of my best, don't you think that you should have informed me before making such a huge announcement”
“Informed you?” I asked like I hadn't heard him the first time while swiveling the chair.
“This is my company, and it is my wife that we are talking about here, I don't think that I owe anyone any form of explanation regarding the decisions that I make, if you think that it is not suited for you, you can walk away!”
I expressed, knowing that I had to get things clear to him.
“Sir, I think that you are mistaken, I don't mean that you have to inform me about everything you do, but do you think that She is suitable to handle such a crucial position?”
“Which is why you are there Lyon, to guide her”
“And what happens when I am done guiding her, do I get fired?” His voice sounded so coldly as he narrowed his gaze at me.
“is that why you were so aggressive, you think that I am going to get rid of you, come on Lyon, you have been a big part of this company, such a thing isn't happening”
I assured him, hoping that he could finally understand the picture and judging by the look on his face, he seemed to have relaxed, the muscles on his jaw eased up.
“Alright Sir, I just wanted to be clear on where I stand” he expressed raising to his feet as he went ahead to tug his tie properly.
“One more thing Lyon!” I called out as he was about walking away, and as he turned around, I needed him to see the darkness that lingered around my face and know what it means.
“Chloe is my wife, there is a bracket to that word, you might have more experience regarding this company, but no matter what happens, you do not disrespect her or her suggestions!”
I warned, he was silent, the air was tensed for a brief moment before he nodded his head.
“Yes Boss!” He expressed and walks out of the office...
