Chapter Ten: Seeking Her

Radames/Anatoly left Russia, he left alone, Gio was too busy mourning the loss of Katya and Natalia to care about leaving. After Natalia had thrown him out Radames had returned a few days later to find her dead in her room. It was as if she had died from heart break. She had taken Katya's death hard and know she was gone and Radames was traveling alone once again. Even if he was being forced to watch from a distance, he had to find Bastet again. One day maybe he could do the right thing and just share his immortality with her. But in her next life he couldn’t do anything, his father had made that clear. Radames knew better than to go against a strict order from the gods, this was his punishment for letting his soulmate die alone. There was no denying he had been selfish; he could’ve shared his immortality with her. So, they wouldn’t have eternity together, they would still get quite a few thousands of years together. That should’ve been enough for him, yet it wasn’t and now because of his greed he was going to pay the price. Radames had no idea where to go or where to look for her next. But he did know she wouldn’t be born in any place she had already been born in. That alone left out quite a few places. After a lot of thought he finally decided. He would go to America, there was something deep within him that told him she would be born there. Fate has a funny way of guiding people. He left Russia behind, and as he always had he assumed a new identity. He traveled across the United States of America until he found a small town by the name of Salem, Massachusetts and it was there he made his home. Radames quickly learned that the people in this small town were extremely religious and superstitious. He used this to his advantage and after five years he ended up becoming the town mayor with a board of people serving below him. The religious fanatics were so afraid of what they called witches. People with power or a natural talent for seeing the future. There were many innocent people that were put to death because they were accused of witchcraft or of being witches. Radames used this fear to his advantage, if the focus was on witches no one would notice his lack of aging. So, for five years he kept up the facade. Until the night the entire town heard it, the cries of two babies being born at the same time. While the others saw it as an omen whether good or bad, Radames, now called Damian Glandaire knew it was special...
